CHAPTER 11

“Are you okay?” Luther questioned, glancing at Charlotte as he started the engine and began driving. “You looked like you wanted to scratch his face off.”

Charlotte glanced out the window. “I wish I could. I could only slap him. He is such a pain in the ass. Why is he questioning me like we are still married? Wasn’t he the one who divorced me and never paid any attention to me?”

She groaned, hating that she was remembering those times. “Forget it. That’s all in the past. The new Charlotte doesn’t care about all of that stuff.”

Luther gave her a quick glance before turning his gaze back to the road. “Did he say anything else to you? He left the table as soon as you did, so I guess he went after you.”

“He did.”

“Did he say anything bad?”

She shook her head. “Just some random annoying stuff.”

Luther grinned. He had heard it all, but she had no idea he did. He would just have to pretend he hadn’t heard Milton and deal with it his own way.
