CHAPTER 11

Luther grinned as Charlotte brushed past his hiding spot. He had heard everything that transpired between them and was proud that she didn’t let Milton fool her. He watched her walk out of sight and stepped out just as Milton was leaving.

Their eyes met, and Luther sent a mocking smile Milton’s way.

Milton glared at him, his brows knitting in anger. “How long have you been standing here?”

“Since you walked in. I wanted to see what you would say to Charl, but I had no idea you were going to say something so pathetic. I don’t understand you. You're mad at her for moving on after the marriage, even though you moved on before the marriage ended.”

Milton’s teeth gritted. “My life is none of your business, and stay away from Charlotte.”

Luther’s lips curled into a grin. “Why would I stay away from her? Like she said, I won’t leave her even if our hair turns gray.”

Those words angered Milton, and his fists tightened.

“I should be the one asking you to stay away from her,” Luther added before
