It’s Tuesday, the day I go out to the city to look for a space for my pastry shop. I got ready just in time for the realtor I saw online last night to call.
“Amelia? Hi, this is Josh Brown. The realtor from last night.”
“Oh hi, this is Amelia. Yes.”
“Good. I have three spaces to show you today, if you can come to the address I just texted you in fifteen minutes.”
“On my way. Thank you.”
I end the call and check my text for the address and put it on my map as i go out to my car.
“First day of the rest of Amelia 2.0,” I said to the steering wheel as I adjusted my car seat.
I text Emma the address for the space and the realtor's address and phone number for cautionary purposes, then hit the road. I get there in ten minutes and Josh is already there waiting.
“Nice to meet you Josh, sorry I kept you waiting.”
“It’s okay. Ready to check the space now?’ he asks, and I nod in excitement.
We proceed to check the space, this one isn’t like I envisioned it. I take some pictures and ask him the price for this space. Even though the price is not so bad, the space isn’t what i’m looking for, so we head over to the next space. I drove us there, and on the drive there I got to learn more about Josh and I could tell he liked me and wanted me in one of his properties. As we got into the street of the second space, which was a five minute drive from the first space, I knew this space would be the one. The street is a busy one, offices and residential houses are scattered around the street. When we pull up in front of the space, I fall in love with it. This was definitely the one. I look across the street and see what looks like a newly completed building with a huge signage that says ‘Hughs wine’, and I smile to myself. This is definitely the universe saying something, wine and chocolate are best friends and this space will be New York’s new favorite place for both wine and my chocolate.
“Josh, this is the one. I’m taking it.”
“Thing is, a lot of people have booked to see this space next tuesday. To claim it, payment has to be made before or by the end of the week.”
“Can we go over the fees I need to pay? And can I take some photos?”
“Sure, I'll send them to you as soon as I get back to the office. Once you make payments, we sign an agreement and I hand you the key to the space.”
“Like the sound of that. Thank you Josh.”
“You’re welcome. Have a good day.”
“Thanks, you too.”
A car pulls up in front of the space to pick up Josh, and as locks up the space he waves goodbye, enters the car and zooms off. My phone rings, my dad. I answer on the third ring.
“Hey princess, how are you?”
“Good dad, how are you?”
“Better than I was yesterday.”
“Ha ha, still got jokes, don’t you?”
“Always. I read your text this morning. How is that plan coming along?”
“I met with the realtor earlier and saw a space I really love, but I have to pay for it before the weekend so it’s not taken by someone else. The area is good for business.”
“The price okay? I’m willing to invest as long as this is what you want, princess.”
“Will get to know the price by evening, and thank you dad. I’ll pay you back once the business is standing on its feet. I have some money saved that can cover my rent and buy some items I need for the shop. I just need money for rent and pastry items and equipments.”
“Let me know the total cost of what you need soon, okay?”
“Sure dad, thanks. Love you.”
“Love you too princess. I have to go now.”
“Bye dad.”
After the call ended, I got into my car and sent the photos I took to Emma and drove to the farmer’s market that was 20 minutes away. I get there, park by the road and head to the bakery item section. After telling a few vendors what I plan to achieve, they give me prices for the things I need with their contact card and point me in the direction of the flea market where I can get furniture for the space.
The flea market had a lot of beautiful things that were so affordable. I got some tables, chairs, lights, boards, and some utensils. If Emma finds out I shopped for these items before paying for the space, she’d kill me. But those items wanted me to take them so bad. I take the smaller items, and give my address to the delivery man to bring the bigger and heavier ones. I get back to my car and my phone chimes, indicating a text. The text is from Josh about the rent and every payment i’m supposed to make, the rent and utility bill was quite moderate.
I get home really exhausted, after drinking a glass of juice from the fridge I get my journal and start writing out the cost for everything I need. It all summed up as $4,500, I picked up my phone to call my dad. He doesn’t respond, he should be working right now, so i send him a text with a breakdown of everything i need and sleep off. I wake up to the sound of my doorbell.
“Coming.” I shouted to whoever was at the door.
“Hey girl.” Emma greeted as she hugged me.
“I saw a lot of furniture just outside on my way in, who’s moving?” Emma asks.
I can’t lie to her, even if that was all I wanted to do, “All mine for the pastry shop.”
“You paid for it already?”
“Not yet, still waiting to get the money from my dad. But those furniture called out to me and I answered.” I tell her dreamily.
“We both know furniture can’t speak, but they are really beautiful and would suit the place you sent. Proud of you girl.” She looked genuinely happy and not mad.
I check my phone and see a voicemail from my dad and a notification from my venmo. Dad sent $5k. I quickly sent him a text, promising to call him as soon as everything about the business is settled.
“Everything okay?” Emma asked.
“Perfect. About paying for the space and living my dream.”
“I’m here if you need any help, okay? And I'm staying the night, so we can go over the plan and arrangement.”
“I love you. Thank you.” I hugged her.
Amelia’s POVOne month later, the pastry business is up and running. I gave it a homely feel, thanks to Pinterest for the ideas and I took Emma’s advice to put the business on Instagram. Running the business alone has not been easy, and I plan to employ an extra hand once I pay dad back, which is soon. The wine company opposite me is planning their opening party, and I was contracted to handle their dessert by their HR person, Charlie. Charlie is a regular at the store, so she must have convinced them to use my cakes as their dessert. I was invited to the winery to see their budget and make arrangements on where the dessert would be placed. This contract would help boost my social media and on site business, because the winery is a famous one with a large number of followers. Their budget was huge for a 300 person party, but it would help me pay my dad back and have some change to put back in the business, so I took it and tried to hide the joy on my face. I brought some sample cakes
Amelia’s POV After leaving the winery, I head over to my shop on the other side of the road. I sent a text to inform Emma of the progress of the contract when I sat down behind the counter. “Hey, the meeting went okay. But i need an extra hand :-)” Her text comes in almost immediately, “I’ll be there after work. When’s the event again?” “In two days.” After replying to her, I call my suppliers from the farmer’s market for everything I’ll be needing. The items I ordered arrived before Emma, so I started setting them up in my storage. By the time I was done setting up, Emma came in. “You better get an extra hand soon, or pay me to work for you.” she teased as she walked in to meet me. “You’ll always be my first employee.” I say, hugging her. When I pulled out of the hug, I saw Charlie walking over to the shop. “Hi again, Amelia. Hello miss?” Charlie greeted as she walked in. “Emma. Emma is just fine.” “Charlie, this is my best friend, Emma. Em, this is Charlie. She works in t
Stan’s POV I’m in my office going over some documents, when Gerald walks in. “Busy?” He asks. “Not really, just going over some things.” “Charlie was helpful by the way. I like it here already.” “You have to, unless all my efforts to want you here would be in vain.” We both laugh. We went over some plans for the opening party and I was getting hungry, so I asked Gerald to come with me to lunch. We head out, since this is not a typical office with lunch rooms. “When will your car get here?” Gerald asked on our way to the restaurant. “I’m thinking next week. I miss that guy.” The rest of the drive was quiet, we got to the restaurant, ate and headed back to the winery. We stopped for a second and I looked across and noticed that I've never noticed the chocolate shop all the while I've been coming in. I tell the driver to hold on for a bit. “Gerald, have you noticed this shop across?” I ask. “Obviously since it's the only building I see from my office.” “I didn't notice it unti
Amelia’s POV Emma arrives a little after 6pm. I texted her to come dressed for the party, since I now had an employee. When she came, I introduced them and got ready for the party in my kitchen. By the time I came out, Emma and Cara were bonding. That’s how it is with Emma, she’s a free and happy soul, once she’s invited she lights up the whole room. “Ahem. Can we go now?” I ask, startling them but getting their attention. “This dress is beautiful Ame.” Cara said, smiling. “Thank you Cara. you can lock up once it’s 7 and please be here on time tomorrow, okay?” “Yes ma’am.” she replied, taking the stance of a military officer. We all laugh. We leave the shop, but the road is quite busy with cars and people making their way to Hughs Wine for the party. We go in and immediately see Charlie. “The chocolate princess and her best friend. Welcome.” She said, and kissed our cheeks. “Thank you Charlie, you look good.” Emma responds. I should leave them to talk, “I'll go grab a drink. A
Stan’s POV We got to my room before I found out her name. Lina. I probably won’t remember it in the morning, but I need to know it now so I don’t moan out another person’s name. “Didn’t think you'd approach me tonight.” She started, probably wanting to know more about why I approached her. New York chics definitely like to know their men. “You’re my type.” “I’ll assume your type is slender, brown hair, perky boobs, round ass, kissable lips and fuckable cunt.” “Nailed it. And you my dear Lina, have them all. Couldn’t let those pass me by tonight.” “Do you like to go gentle or rough?” “I can’t promise to be gentle for long Lina.” “Good, I like it rough. I’ll just take a quick shower to get this sweat out and I’ll join you in bed.” “Take your time.” I smile as she walks into the bathroom. I haven’t had any woman over since I moved here, and I’m not trying to start anything serious with any woman, but Lina looks like the kind of woman I can keep around for a while, or it’s just
Amelia’s POVIt was a bright Sunday morning in July, and I made plans to surprise Mike in his apartment which was three streets away from mine. Every summer since we started dating five years ago, was spent travelling, exploring new cities and food, having mindblowing sex and meeting new people to expand mike’s crazy business ideas. This year, one of his ideas kicked off into an actual plan so we could not travel anywhere for summer as he was working. I decided to surprise him by coming to his house Sunday morning to transform it into the city we planned to visit, and store some of their local cuisines which I got from some restaurants downtown in his refrigerator. And they were hard to order from because it was summer and some people apparently love trying new food in summer. His building looked the same, tall, classy and intimidating in the choicest part of the city with Tom, the doorman who has been there for over 10 years and was friendly to everyone going in or coming out of the
Amelia’s POVI tried my best to avoid crying on the ride home. I just looked out of the window and thought about the past five years, how Mike was the first long relationship I had and how all the vacations we took every summer made me love him more. I also wondered if he didn’t want to go on this vacation with me because of Kate or was it Kat? The tears were rushing down now and thankfully the driver was pulling up in front of my small apartment. It was nothing fancy like Mike's, but it was mine and I was going to get on my bed and cry for my life. I got down from the cab and spot my corolla with the stupid photo sticker of me and mike on the boot entrance. I walked to the car and tore the sticker out and cussed at everything I could think of. Why was Mike breaking up with me now? How many people have their lives figured out after three years of graduating college? I was going to answer those questions after I ate some Italian food. Stan’s POVGetting to the bar, I'm greeted by two hot chics that take me to the bar stand for drinks. Who am I to decline such a delicious offer? I follow them right in with my hands on both their waists. After getting drinks, they pull me up to the dance floor and we dance till we are tired and I invite them to spend the night over at my apartment. Thankfully, I didn’t have too much to drink, so I tip the bartender and the valet and drive out of the bar’s garage with two hot chics to my apartment which was 10 blocks away. This time I ask for their names and try to remember and not mix them up. Alice and Yvonne, Alice is the one with blue eyes like ice and Yvonne has brown eyes, i say repeatedly in my head on the way up to my floor. Once we get into my apartment, the action begins. Seeing that Alice and Yvonne are very experienced, I let them do what they planned to do. They take off their dresses and take turns undressing me.
