Stan’s POV
I wake up with a pounding feeling in my head, which I blame on the many tequila shots I took last night. And why is Marie or was it Dennise still on my bed?
“Hey Stan, last night was fun. We should do it again sometime”, the lady, whose name I don’t remember said and got off the bed into her dress. I’m unsure of what happened last night, so I do not respond.
“Call me, okay?”, she said as she walked out of my apartment.
After she is gone, I try to recall the events of last night. I remember talking to my dad and him whining about me taking the family business seriously, and I think we ended up fighting. We definitely ended up fighting. After that, I went to the bar to hang and get a drink. As usual, people from the bar recognize me and come to me for all kinds of favors, from jobs to partnership to things I can't even remember. Gerald, my good friend will always say, “these things come with being the heir to a well known and successful winery.” Maybe he is right. Every girl at the bar from last night was all over me and I bought so many drinks. I blame Gerald for not showing up, if he was there I wouldn't drink so much.
“Fuck! Gerald didn’t come for a reason” i cuss and pick up my phone to call him. After five rings, he picks up.
“Bro, what happened yesterday?” I asked immediately he answered.
“Not all of us are heirs to billionaires Stan, some of us have to work to get to that level,” he replied and I instantly felt bad.
Without thinking it through, i say “once the company is mine, i want you to be the chief accountant. Not just cos you’re my best friend, you’re also very good at what you do and i’ll make sure you’re paid your worth at Hughs.”
“You want to take the company now and move to New York? Thought you preferred being the billionaire’s son without doing a thing?” he scoffs.
“Very funny Gerald, very funny. Well, only change is constant and nobody really knows me in the big city. I’m tired of being asked for favors everywhere I turn around here.”
“I feel you. Make sure you don’t forget the promise you just made man, I'll be needing that big break.”
“Of course, I'll talk to my dad now. He’ll be so happy and proud,” I scoff.
“Later dude,” he says and ends the call.
My dad John Hughs is not one to talk about serious matters over the phone, except he’s trying to remind you of the already discussed matter. So, I dial him to let him know I'll be coming home for dinner. As usual, he tries to convince me to take over the company. Once I told him I'm coming home tonight for dinner, I felt his mood brighten.
I look around my apartment after the call with my dad to be sure everything is in order. Thankfully, the lady from this morning didn’t leave a souvenir, because if she did I would have trashed it seeing there was no way I could reach her. I don’t even remember her name. Every other thing in my apartment is in place, so I step into the bath and wash off the events of last night. It’s 6pm when I pull up into our gigantic home in the middle of chicago. I always wonder how my dad pulled off owning a structure like this in the city. You only see houses as big as this in the country. I park my mercedez in the garage, get to the front door and our butler Henry is waiting to greet me.
“Good evening sir, trust you had a smooth ride over,” he greeted and took my purse.
“Yea sure Henry. Thank you.”
“I’ll go get your mom and dad, then dinner will be served sir,” he told me and hurried off, after dropping my purse on the stand close to the dining table. I’m tempted to go upstairs to my old room, but the family will be coming down any minute now and mom would start her lectures on etiquettes, which I do not want to receive so I stay put. Few minutes later, they come down speaking in hushed tones, and i’m sure they’re talking or betting about why i came.
“Good evening mom, you look lovely.” I said, kissing her on both cheeks when they reached the dining room.
“My dear son, I've missed you. You don’t call your mama anymore.” Mom pouts.
“Hey dad. Mom, I call you once every week.” i defend. She does this everytime i call her or visit. Our calls every week are longer than an hour.
My dad scoffs, “if you want to live, call your mom everyday son.”
We all laugh and get seated for dinner. There is an unspoken rule in the house that we must never talk while eating, whatever we must say in the dining room should be about the food we’re having. I know my dad can’t wait for dinner to be over so we can talk about why I really came. After dinner, we all head to the sitting room while Henry goes in to get a bottle of wine as requested by my mom. Once the wine gets served, he leaves and my mom looks at me to start the conversation.
“I am ready to take over the company,” I say, cutting to the chase.
“You owe me 5000 love, tell you.” my mom calls out to my dad.
“Wait, you bet on me? When will you two stop this?” I question, feigning surprise.
My dad hands my mom 2000 and promises to give her the balance once they’re up in their room. Then he faces me, “I'm glad you want to, son, really glad. You just have to stay here for a month and see the production process, before heading over to New York to be in the business proper. I’ll have my lawyer work out the details for putting you in charge. Thank you son, I'm really glad you came around.”
“One more thing dad, I want Gerald to be the chief accountant working with me. Before you disagree, I made a list of the companies he has worked for and sent to your email. He is really good, and I want to continue your legacy with people I trust.”
“You owe me 2000 bucks for this one too, you now owe me 5k John.”
“You know everything Vanessa, I'll give that to you. And, I like that you want to start out with people you trust, son, so I'll check the email and get back to you as soon as possible,” my dad responds with a smile on his face.
The dinner and conversation ended pretty well for the first time in a long time, and my parents look happy and satisfied. I leave the house at 8, and drive straight to a bar to celebrate and probably find a hot chic to bring home tonight.
Stan’s POVGetting to the bar, I'm greeted by two hot chics that take me to the bar stand for drinks. Who am I to decline such a delicious offer? I follow them right in with my hands on both their waists. After getting drinks, they pull me up to the dance floor and we dance till we are tired and I invite them to spend the night over at my apartment. Thankfully, I didn’t have too much to drink, so I tip the bartender and the valet and drive out of the bar’s garage with two hot chics to my apartment which was 10 blocks away. This time I ask for their names and try to remember and not mix them up. Alice and Yvonne, Alice is the one with blue eyes like ice and Yvonne has brown eyes, i say repeatedly in my head on the way up to my floor. Once we get into my apartment, the action begins. Seeing that Alice and Yvonne are very experienced, I let them do what they planned to do. They take off their dresses and take turns undressing me. The night ended with everyone feeling satisfied, and I kne
It’s Tuesday, the day I go out to the city to look for a space for my pastry shop. I got ready just in time for the realtor I saw online last night to call.“Amelia? Hi, this is Josh Brown. The realtor from last night.” “Oh hi, this is Amelia. Yes.”“Good. I have three spaces to show you today, if you can come to the address I just texted you in fifteen minutes.”“On my way. Thank you.”I end the call and check my text for the address and put it on my map as i go out to my car.“First day of the rest of Amelia 2.0,” I said to the steering wheel as I adjusted my car seat.I text Emma the address for the space and the realtor's address and phone number for cautionary purposes, then hit the road. I get there in ten minutes and Josh is already there waiting.“Nice to meet you Josh, sorry I kept you waiting.”“It’s okay. Ready to check the space now?’ he asks, and I nod in excitement. We proceed to check the space, this one isn’t like I envisioned it. I take some pictures and ask him the
Amelia’s POVOne month later, the pastry business is up and running. I gave it a homely feel, thanks to Pinterest for the ideas and I took Emma’s advice to put the business on Instagram. Running the business alone has not been easy, and I plan to employ an extra hand once I pay dad back, which is soon. The wine company opposite me is planning their opening party, and I was contracted to handle their dessert by their HR person, Charlie. Charlie is a regular at the store, so she must have convinced them to use my cakes as their dessert. I was invited to the winery to see their budget and make arrangements on where the dessert would be placed. This contract would help boost my social media and on site business, because the winery is a famous one with a large number of followers. Their budget was huge for a 300 person party, but it would help me pay my dad back and have some change to put back in the business, so I took it and tried to hide the joy on my face. I brought some sample cakes
Amelia’s POV After leaving the winery, I head over to my shop on the other side of the road. I sent a text to inform Emma of the progress of the contract when I sat down behind the counter. “Hey, the meeting went okay. But i need an extra hand :-)” Her text comes in almost immediately, “I’ll be there after work. When’s the event again?” “In two days.” After replying to her, I call my suppliers from the farmer’s market for everything I’ll be needing. The items I ordered arrived before Emma, so I started setting them up in my storage. By the time I was done setting up, Emma came in. “You better get an extra hand soon, or pay me to work for you.” she teased as she walked in to meet me. “You’ll always be my first employee.” I say, hugging her. When I pulled out of the hug, I saw Charlie walking over to the shop. “Hi again, Amelia. Hello miss?” Charlie greeted as she walked in. “Emma. Emma is just fine.” “Charlie, this is my best friend, Emma. Em, this is Charlie. She works in t
Stan’s POV I’m in my office going over some documents, when Gerald walks in. “Busy?” He asks. “Not really, just going over some things.” “Charlie was helpful by the way. I like it here already.” “You have to, unless all my efforts to want you here would be in vain.” We both laugh. We went over some plans for the opening party and I was getting hungry, so I asked Gerald to come with me to lunch. We head out, since this is not a typical office with lunch rooms. “When will your car get here?” Gerald asked on our way to the restaurant. “I’m thinking next week. I miss that guy.” The rest of the drive was quiet, we got to the restaurant, ate and headed back to the winery. We stopped for a second and I looked across and noticed that I've never noticed the chocolate shop all the while I've been coming in. I tell the driver to hold on for a bit. “Gerald, have you noticed this shop across?” I ask. “Obviously since it's the only building I see from my office.” “I didn't notice it unti
Amelia’s POV Emma arrives a little after 6pm. I texted her to come dressed for the party, since I now had an employee. When she came, I introduced them and got ready for the party in my kitchen. By the time I came out, Emma and Cara were bonding. That’s how it is with Emma, she’s a free and happy soul, once she’s invited she lights up the whole room. “Ahem. Can we go now?” I ask, startling them but getting their attention. “This dress is beautiful Ame.” Cara said, smiling. “Thank you Cara. you can lock up once it’s 7 and please be here on time tomorrow, okay?” “Yes ma’am.” she replied, taking the stance of a military officer. We all laugh. We leave the shop, but the road is quite busy with cars and people making their way to Hughs Wine for the party. We go in and immediately see Charlie. “The chocolate princess and her best friend. Welcome.” She said, and kissed our cheeks. “Thank you Charlie, you look good.” Emma responds. I should leave them to talk, “I'll go grab a drink. A
Stan’s POV We got to my room before I found out her name. Lina. I probably won’t remember it in the morning, but I need to know it now so I don’t moan out another person’s name. “Didn’t think you'd approach me tonight.” She started, probably wanting to know more about why I approached her. New York chics definitely like to know their men. “You’re my type.” “I’ll assume your type is slender, brown hair, perky boobs, round ass, kissable lips and fuckable cunt.” “Nailed it. And you my dear Lina, have them all. Couldn’t let those pass me by tonight.” “Do you like to go gentle or rough?” “I can’t promise to be gentle for long Lina.” “Good, I like it rough. I’ll just take a quick shower to get this sweat out and I’ll join you in bed.” “Take your time.” I smile as she walks into the bathroom. I haven’t had any woman over since I moved here, and I’m not trying to start anything serious with any woman, but Lina looks like the kind of woman I can keep around for a while, or it’s just
Amelia’s POVIt was a bright Sunday morning in July, and I made plans to surprise Mike in his apartment which was three streets away from mine. Every summer since we started dating five years ago, was spent travelling, exploring new cities and food, having mindblowing sex and meeting new people to expand mike’s crazy business ideas. This year, one of his ideas kicked off into an actual plan so we could not travel anywhere for summer as he was working. I decided to surprise him by coming to his house Sunday morning to transform it into the city we planned to visit, and store some of their local cuisines which I got from some restaurants downtown in his refrigerator. And they were hard to order from because it was summer and some people apparently love trying new food in summer. His building looked the same, tall, classy and intimidating in the choicest part of the city with Tom, the doorman who has been there for over 10 years and was friendly to everyone going in or coming out of the

Amelia’s POVI tried my best to avoid crying on the ride home. I just looked out of the window and thought about the past five years, how Mike was the first long relationship I had and how all the vacations we took every summer made me love him more. I also wondered if he didn’t want to go on this vacation with me because of Kate or was it Kat? The tears were rushing down now and thankfully the driver was pulling up in front of my small apartment. It was nothing fancy like Mike's, but it was mine and I was going to get on my bed and cry for my life. I got down from the cab and spot my corolla with the stupid photo sticker of me and mike on the boot entrance. I walked to the car and tore the sticker out and cussed at everything I could think of. Why was Mike breaking up with me now? How many people have their lives figured out after three years of graduating college? I was going to answer those questions after I ate some Italian food. Once I got into my apartment, I went straight to t
