I didn’t respond to Vito’s text the other night, so he woke me up with a call the next morning. I stretched my hands to the side table to take my ringing phone.

“Hello,” I answered with a sleepy voice.

“I sent you a text in the night and you didn’t respond.” Vito’s voice sounded from the other end of the line.

I wasn’t going to respond to a rude text.

“Yeah, I didn’t. You were rude.” I snapped.

“I’m sorry, I was just worried. I’m sorry it came out that way.” He apologized.

I let out a sigh. “It’s okay. I’m at Ellie’s house, I’m sure you knew that already.”

“Yeah I did, the driver informed me.”

I pulled the covers tighter around me. “I didn’t want to stay alone, so I had to spend the night with her.”

“I’m sorry I left you for this long, I’ll be back soon.”

“When do you mean by soon?”

“I don’t know yet, but you’ll see me soon.”

“Okay, I’ll talk to you later.” I sighed, sounding disappointed.
