CHAPTER 4
We’re in the middle of a meadow filled with flowers. White carpet was laid all over the venue. Silver Chiavari chairs with mint green sashes were placed with round tables covered with white cloth. There were also bouquets of flowers place in the middle of the tables.
This is an open venue. I think that it’s already 2pm in the afternoon. The sun was not quite harsh, it was bright enough to make this field alive yet not enough to burn our skin. The breeze was calm as if it anticipates our celebration for this afternoon. The weather was perfect because it doesn’t show any chances of raining.
It was evident when fancy cars started to occupy the lot, nearby.
Sinalubong sila nila Mom at Dad.
The humid weather suddenly made me thirsty.
“Where are you going?” he said sweetly.
Argh! Why does he have to use that tone?! Was this just part of his act?! Our parents are not even close to us, or enough for them to hear him.
“I’m thirsty.”
Anong tinatawa ng lalaking ‘to?!
“So, that’s your term for running away from me?” Ano bang iniisip ng lalaking ‘to?
“Here.” He offered me glass of water.
Ayaw niya akong pansinin? Edi ‘wag! Anong akala niya lalambingin ko siya?! No, NEVER!
It’s a good thing that my two best friends finally arrived.
“Deanne! Shaia!
Shaia is gorgeous not to mention that she’s also prim and proper. Kaya hindi na ako nagtaka pa roon.
“Buti nalang talaga at naawat ni Ream. Siya ang naghatid sa amin rito.” Dagdag ni Shaia.
“Really? Where is he?” I asked them.
Shaia cleared her throat. I wonder why she did that.
“Hello, Mikael! Best wishes to the both of you!”
“Thank you.”
She was punished by the Head Mistress because of you. And you are such a fcking jerk, Mikael!” Si Deanne naman iyon.
“But today is your wedding day kaya, kakalimutan muna namin iyon ni Shaia ngayong araw.” Dagdag pa niya.
Oh my God.
These two are really my best of friends. I wasn’t expecting that.
“Deanne…”
“Ops! Sorry. Shouldn’t have said those.”
“I’m sorry. Mauveine and Mikael, please excuse us.” Pamamaalam nito sa amin at agad na naglakad papalayo.
Sinenyasan ako ni Shaia. Her hand gestures said it all. Deanne was freaking DRUNK! I should have known! Kaya pala ganoon nalang ang inasta niya.
“I’m sorry, Deanne’s drunk.” I said to Mikael.
“It’s alright.”
The ceremony continued. Our parents delivered their speeches. Mikael’s best man, Lynch, then my best friends and some of my classmates, and the last were our parents colleagues and relatives. I’m sleepy.
Everyone was still chatting around.
They were so happy; it was evident on their smiles and heartful laughs.
Mom and Dad were married because of my grandparents will. Napasok din sila sa isang arranged marriage set-up, but they were in loved with each other before the marriage. Kaya wala iyong naging problema sa kanila. But in my case? It’s our parent’s will that mattered, this is a marriage for convenience.
The sunset was just too breath-taking. Its orange hues blended perfectly with the soft blue and violet colors of the sky. The light was reflected by the river nearby. It was just perfect, and sunsets never failed to calm me.
I let out a yawn.
“Are you tired, Mauveine?” tanong ni Mikael sa akin. I pursed my lips and nodded at him. I’m tired with all of this, Mikael.
I must admit that it was comfortable.
Hindi ko na siya tinarayan pa. This is the least I could do to him. I should at least be nice to him for the favor he did to his father, our companies and to me.
“The party will be over any minute now then we’ll head home, so you could rest. Okay?” he said softly.
I only nodded as an answer.
Home.
Could a home feel like one, if you are with someone of whom you don’t love at all?
CHAPTER 5I woke up when I felt streaks of sunlight caressed my face. I also heard the birds chirping from the window. I walked towards the bathroom area while I let out a yawn. That made me jump. Who the hell I am with?! And how dare him call me by my second name?Tumingin ako ng diretso sa kanya. I was about to panic but it was just…Him. It was Mikael. He was wearing a white tank top and long black pants. I must admit that his physique is way manly than his age. He’s two years older than me. He is twenty, while I’m eighteen. Not to mention that he has such a handsome face, I really can’t argue with that.Vivid memories flashed f
CHAPTER 6What the hell? The woman kissed Mikael on his cheek.Do they have a relationship or something? The woman only showed her silly face of which made Mikael's eyebrows to meet."Zaida! Stop it."Kilala pala siya ni Mikael. Now the only thing I’m wondering is their relationship. I was just rooted at my place. Then the woman faced me, wearing her silly smile. Nanatili siyang nakatitig sa akin. It was just a matter of seconds when something hits her realization."Oh, my goodness! You must be Mauveine Arellano, right?" iniayos niya ang kanyang postura at agad na napabitaw kay Mikael. Tuluyan niya na rin akong nilapitan. Muntik pa nga siyang matapilok.Napatango na lamang ako sa tanong niya. Her expression immediately turned bright."I'm Zaida Valiente, and I'm Mikael's cousin." My jaw dropped open by what she has said.I thought she was his lover or what. Muntik na nga akong masuka sa pinag-iisip ko.I was about to
CHAPTER 7 After I took a bath and got dressed, Zaida’s words still managed to cross my mind. “Mikael’s mother had an affair with another man years back, and that caused his indecent history with girls. Mikael couldn’t even stand his mother, that he moved out of their house right after he knew about it. His relationship with his mother was not the same as it was before, until now. I know, it’s not a reason for him to be a jerk because it was clearly his choice… but please do take a little amount of consideration for my cousin, Mauveine. I don’t want to see him that wrecked again…” I pulled my hair out of frustration. That explains pretty much everything. The day when I formally met Mikael’s parents, he was literally distant to his mother. He must have been so hurt of what happened. But Zaida was right. Mikael’s actions are no longer anyone’s fault because it was his choice. I don’t know if he feels satisfied with girl
CHAPTER 8Napabitaw kami sa pagkakayakap sa isat-isa nang tumunog ang phone ko.Wait---- What the hell just happened?!It was a relief that the phone call made an escape to ease the awkwardness between us.I couldn’t see Mikael’s face because he looked on the other side, while massaging his nape.I could feel my cheeks heating up, so I turned my back on him. I glanced back to my phone, and it revealed the caller. It was Mikael’s mom.Could timings get any worse?I excused myself to Mikael and he let me be. Naglakad na agad ako patungo sa balcony. I let go a heavy and deep sigh before answering the call.“Hello Tita Valeen, yes this is Mauveine.”There was no answer on the other line. Don’t tell me…“Mauveine? Could you please welcome us? I’m sorry for the sudden visit, honey.”I pl
I suddenly remembered my parents. I was used to have my parents’ attention since I’m their only child, and what I’m feeling now seems surreal. They never reached out to since the wedding happened. I feel like they just abandoned me out of nowhere. Those thoughts of mine were quite disturbing and exaggerated, but I managed to set it aside. He was facing the ceiling. He looks so tranquil while sleeping.
CHAPTER 11It was the time when I realized that we’ve been staring at each other for quite some time, when someone knocked at our door. I must’ve looked pathetic wearing such smile at Mikael. I took that opportunity to change my clothes. Is he thinking that I’m going through his stuff? If that is what he’s thinking, then he’s wrong. I would never be that low. I let a heavy sigh out.Hindi ko na siya pinans
CHAPTER 11There was no regret in what we are doing. We stopped the kiss to catch our breaths in. I could feel my heart beating fast, yet I didn’t really put more attention to that. His hands were also getting a hold of my bare waist. I let our gaze meet once more. His eyes were smoking hot and so as he.Napangiti na lamang ako ng wala sa oras at ganoon rin siya. Nasa malalim na parte na pala kami, at hindi ko iyon namalayan kanina.I had decided to dive into the water to take a glimpse of the seafloor. From there I was able confirm that I really stepped on to a bunch of seaweeds. After a minute or so I can’t hold my breath any longer, so I emerged.I was taken aback when Mikael spoke.“It’s your turn now. Would you let me know you more?
CHAPTER 12 “You’re joking right?” Matthew laughed with disbelief. I rolled my eyes at him. I can’t even imagine of how I got into a relationship with this guy! Our skin was touching, and I could feel the heat between us. His familiar scent has now a hint of mint, of which I think he got from his drink. I saw how Mikael clenched his jaw. It only lasted for a second and we pulled away each other’s gaze. “I’m Mikael Jarren Valiente and you are Matthew, right?” As he should! And Jarius Leonel Valiente, Mikael’s father is a multi-billionaire and ruthless businessman.
