Chapter 5: The Curse-Breaking Woman

Despite almost losing consciousness, I could feel Alpha Jayden walking in a hurry. 

The moment his foot stepped out the door, the pain in my throat disappeared, completely gone and also the blood from my nose and mouth stopped flowing. 

This strange incident shocked everyone again. 

Alpha Jayden furrowed his eyebrows until they almost fused together. He must be wondering, but I don't have an answer if it's a question about what just happened to me.

“Put me down,” I said.

But Alpha Jayden wasn't listening to me. Instead, he took me back into the house, and locked me in a room. 

He trapped me between his arm and the door. “What happened to you? You.... why are you suddenly dying and healthy again?” He shook my shoulders. “Answer me!”

I pushed him, I was fed up. “I don't know what happened to me either!” My breath is rising and falling with anger. “I don't know why I'm suddenly dying and why I'm suddenly fine. I'm confused too!”

Alpha Jayden's eyes wildly looked into mine, as if confirming something. Then his forehead furrowed and he placed one hand beside my face. “You have healing abilities?”

What? No way! I don't even have a wolf on me. 

But then I remembered I heard a voice claiming to be 'Stephanie' when I was dying earlier. Is that a sign that my wolf has appeared? So I'm not weak anymore? I have a wolf and healing abilities? 

Now I can boldly stare at Alpha Jayden. Doesn't that mean I don't need him anymore if I already have my abilities and wolf? I can make money with this!

It was probably because of my surprised expression at this moment that Alpha Jayden grabbed my hand roughly. “You feel your wolf?” He scrutinized my expression, staring at my face intently. “I guess that's right. It means that your abilities just appeared together with your wolf. You have a rare healing ability, which only one werewolf in a Pack possesses.”

That was amazing! I'm no longer the weak Cassie, no one will dare to step on me again, I'm sure!

He put another hand on the other side of my face. “From now on, you can never leave Pack Nexus. I am changing the marriage contract where you will not be able to divorce me and leave my territory for any reason.”

What? I won't obey him. I pushed him. “You can't decide that on your own! You can't change the contract all you want just because you're an Alpha!”

The gaze in Alpha Jayden's eyes changed, not as sharp as before, but I couldn't interpret that gaze. 

Unexpectedly, he placed his hand on my stomach. “Thank goodness the child is still alive."

I swatted his hand away and kicked his cock until he was in pain. “I will not continue this contract marriage with you!” I ran out of the room, running towards the main hall as it was the only open door.

But everyone's gaze became different, they were not only shocked at my appearance but also shocked to see me back to normal. I could also hear some of them whispering about the abilities I had. An ability that I only realized when I was about to die.

I squeezed this damn wedding dress. There was no point in staying in this place for long. That's why I ran away. But just as I reached the main door, a very tall and beautiful woman got out of her car and walked towards me. 

She looked like a model, and she also looked confident. She looked me up and down, as if assessing my appearance. But I didn't know who she was. 

“Isn't she Alpha Jayden's fiancée?”

“Yes, I thought she was going to be Luna. That's why I'm so shocked.”

Wait, she's Alpha Jayden's fiancée? So Alpha Jayden already has a woman? 

This news hit me, like a wave in the sea that then dragged me into the deep ocean. This is why I hate dealing with powerful person. Because now my fears are coming true, I'm just being used. 

That jerk, why is he still forcing me into a contract marriage with him if he has a fiancée! He can make a child with this woman and there's no need to drag me into his problems!

I suddenly felt a breath on the back of my neck, followed by Alpha Jayden's surprised-sounding voice. “Paula?”

I sighed sadly, I was just being played here. Why did I have to get involved in this mess? 

I turned around and slapped Alpha Jayden out of my disappointment. Then I ran away from his house. 

I ran as fast as I could. I didn't want to interfere in their matters, especially to be accused of being someone else's mistress! 

To hell with that contract marriage and divorce ban, I was going to leave Pack Nexus. 

But it seemed Alpha Jayden didn't want to let me go. He and his guards chased after me.

I ran faster while carrying this wedding dress that was heavy as a rock. I didn't want to be caught and forced into this contract marriage. I didn't want to get into any more chaos because my life was already so chaotic. 

But unfortunately I don't see any place to hide. Up ahead there was only a long bridge and underneath it was only a fast flowing river. 

What should I do? I didn't want to become Luna if only to be used as a child producer. 

They were getting closer, leaving me with no other choice. 

I ran to the edge of the bridge and that's when Alpha Jayden jumped out of the car and chased after me. 

“Cassandra stop! Don't you dare to jump!”

I caught a glimpse of him. You think I'd happily enter into a contract marriage with you with me having the most to lose? No way!

I smiled wryly and then jumped off the bridge.

But that crazy Alpha actually managed to catch one of my hands so that I was now dangling from this very high bridge.

“Let go of me! I don't want to go through this marriage with you! You already have a fiancée so why are you so greedy!” I tried to let go of his hand but he was very strong. He pulled my body up. Even though I fought him, he still managed to save me until I ended up falling on top of him. 

I pushed him off and was about to run away again but he quickly shouldered my body like a sack of rice. 

I put all my strength into kicking and punching, but it was all in vain. Alpha Jayden managed to bring me back to his house.

He put me in a bedroom and locked the door. Then he punched the wall next to me until it cracked. His breathing was ragged and his eyes were red with anger.

“You.... how dare you do such a dangerous thing!”

I laughed sadly. “Why? Because I'm carrying your child? Even though I'm carrying your child, that doesn't mean you can lock me up here in a contract marriage and do whatever you want to me!” 

Alpha Jayden held back my hand that wanted to slap him. “You signed the agreement, so you can't play games with me. I freed you from the nightclub, I bought you.”

“And I want to cancel the contract!” I shouted. I didn't want to lose this argument either because I knew I wasn't wrong. “You already have a fiancée, why don't you just make a child with her if it's actually a child you want?”

“That's none of your business,” he responded in a cold voice. “You can't cancel the contract all you want. And I would never let you jeopardize the baby in your womb.”

I slapped him as soon as I had the chance. “You can't drag me into your problems. I want a divorce with you right now. I'll return the money you spent to buy me.”

He laughed, doubting me. “In what way will you return the money?” Then his gaze turned serious and frightening. “You can't do that because from now on you'll be mine.” 

I elbowed him in the stomach and ran to grab something I could use as a weapon. It was a good thing I found a scissors, so I pointed it at him. “You.... stop right there.” I pointed the scissors at my stomach. “If you come any closer, I'll stab my stomach.”

“Don't act stupid.” He didn't listen to my threat and instead walked boldly towards me. 

“I don't mess with my words!” I pressed the scissors to my dress, ready to stab them into my stomach. 

I don't play around with what I say either, it's better for me and this baby to die together than to have to live a vague life like this. Instead of being framed and used, it's better to leave forever, right?

My life in Pack Arcanum is already suffering, I don't want to suffer anymore here.

I pressed the scissors painfully against my stomach. Even I could already feel the sting as it cut my skin. 

I smiled sideways as I looked at him. “Goodbye, Alpha Jayden.”
