Chapter 9: The Neuvern Island and Ucalda

I woke up with a ragged breath. 

I looked around, and thankfully I was still in this room, not losing consciousness and breaking into Cassie's room. 

“Shit!” 

How long have I been asleep? It's already morning! The sun has already appeared!

I ran towards Cassie's room, finding the doctor and the elder discussing in front of her room. 

“What's wrong? Did something happen?” I asked.

The elder faced me, “Here's Alpha Jayden. We've reached the Neuvern island, but we're still confused. Should we take Luna Cassandra with us or leave her on this ship?”

“Wait, explain the procedure first.”

“First, we have to find the plant. Then we extract it and give it to Luna Cassandra."

“How to extract it? Can it be done on the spot or do we have to go back to the ship?” 

“If there's a fire source, water, and an earthen pot, we can do it on the spot.”

“Okay.” I took a deep breath. “The sooner the better, right? We'll take Luna Cassandra there.”

I immediately opened the door of the room where Cassie was resting. 

“Doc, you bring the necessary blood reserves in case she vomits blood again. I'll carry her. Do you understand?”

The doctor approached me with concern, “You'll carry her the whole way?”

I raised one eyebrow. “Why? Do you doubt my strength?” I gave him a sharp look. “Even if I have to carry her around the world on my back, I will. I know you doubt me, but remember that I am the son of Maria.”

“I'm sorry.” 

“Never mind the important thing is to quickly remove these tools because we have to leave soon. There are only two days left as you said.”

We acted quickly. The doctor removed the instruments on Cassie's body while the elders and guards prepared the necessities to extract the herbs. 

Ten minutes later we finally got out of the ship with Cassie who I carried in the front. 

In a short while Cassie, you will wake up again. 

I will free you from your long sleep.

But there's something to know, this island isn't an ordinary island that's just separated from the rest of the mainland of the Pack Nexus, but it's also a deadly island. 

Why deadly? Because there are a lot of rogues, and it's their habitat. For this reason, exploration is better done in the morning than at night when they are active.

In addition, there are also many poisonous plants so do not carelessly hold anything on this island or it will be deadly. 

A few hundred meters into the island, Cassie's body became sweaty, not ordinary sweat but cold sweat. 

Her entire warm body turned as cold as the river water in the morning. 

“Elder, why did her body become cold?” I asked. I paused to confirm Cassie's body temperature. “Is this something bad?”

“Her body became cold?” The elder immediately rushed over to us. He checked Cassie's pulse spots such as on her hands and neck. “This is not a good sign, Alpha Jayden. When the body becomes cold, then it means that her strength is weakened as well.”

I widened my eyes. “Then what should we do? Don't leave her like that. Save her.”

“Please calm down Alpha Jayden. Although this situation does not allow for calm, but if you panic, then we will panic too,” the elder explained.

The problem was how could I not panic? Cassie's body was getting colder and colder. Now it's even like an ice cube. 

Did she want me to let Cassie's body freeze and then panic?

“Please put Luna Cassandra down for a moment.” 

“Hurry up and spread the mat!” I snapped at the bodyguard. 

I gently placed Cassie on the prepared mat. I left her head on my thigh. 

The elder took out very long accountpunture needles. 

I swatted his hand away as he was about to stick the needle into Cassie's forehead. “Are you crazy?”

“This is an acupuncture technique that can raise Luna Cassandra's body temperature, so we can continue our journey. Please let me do it because the sooner the better.” 

But wouldn't it hurt a lot? The needle was so long that it was the length of my palm. 

“The Elders are right, Alpha Jayden. This is the form of treatment. I will also give an injection to maintain Luna Cassandra's immune system.” This time doctor Bram also agreed with the elder. 

Even though I didn't have the heart, I had to do it. 

“Alright, do whatever it is that can make Cassie survive,” I broke off in the end. 

I let them do their job so that Cassie wouldn't be in more pain either. 

Although her face was currently pale and expressionless, somehow I could feel that she was defending against her pain. 

I had to turn my face away to avoid seeing the needle piercing her forehead. 

Cassie's a doctor, seeing her like this really makes me feel sorry for her. She had to become a patient too. 

“I'm done with the puncture.”

I could finally see Cassie again. “How are you, doctor?”

“I just finished too,” doctor Bram replied. 

“Then can we continue our journey?”

They both nodded. 

It's a good thing that this passed quickly. I really couldn't stand it. 

I thought to myself, is this all worth the contract she signed? 

It seems like I should compensate Cassie more. However.... risking her life to help me still doesn't seem worth it.

We went deeper and deeper into the island. Only dense forests and large trees were encountered along the way. 

The Ucalda plant had yet to be discovered. 

It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Whereas after arriving on this island, I thought we would immediately encounter many Ucalda plants and be able to process them into medicine right away. 

I looked down, watching Cassie. 

How long did she have to wait?

“There it is! We found it!” the elder snapped. 

We all immediately looked in the direction the elder pointed. And it was true! The Ucalda plant had been found!

Thank God!

“First of all, please put Luna Cassandra down, without a mat so that her body can touch the roots of the Ucalda plant. Let her head be level with her body, not higher.” 

I immediately carried out the elders' instructions. I slowly placed Cassie onto the ground, on top of the roots of the Ucalda plant that spread widely around this area. 

Right after I positioned Cassie's body, there was a voice approaching. 

It was the rogue, I recognized that voice.

“All guards quickly form a cover for Luna Cassandra. We'll protect Luna and those treating her! Do it now because the rogue is coming closer!”

I took a position in front of where the voice came from. 

Damn it, those monsters shouldn't show up at a crucial time like this! Or maybe they were just trying to mess with me. 

I smiled lopsidedly. Alright if you guys are challenging me, I'll do whatever I want.

I finally changed form, to my wolf form. So did all my bodyguards. 

Not long after, the rogues appeared. 

Without giving them any time to rest, I attacked them. And in one attack, I was able to sever one of their heads. 

This was going to be exciting, a battle with unexpected rogues. 

From ten to twenty. They also kept coming after one by one they fell. 

The atmosphere became tense and I liked it. There would be no need to bother coming here next time to eliminate them if they were all out. 

I let out a long howl, giving support to all the guards who were fighting. And they went crazy afterward. 

Those rogues should know that we werewolves in Pack Nexus are hungry for a fight. 

For a long time, we held back because there was no war to be fought. And the training done by all the troopers was finally not in vain. 

A newly arrived rogue ran towards Cassie. 

Hey, I won't let you get less than a meter away from her fuck!

I took out my claws and tore open his chest. I ripped out his guts and threw his corpse to one of the surviving rogues. 

Some of them start to look scared. 

Look, it's your fault for challenging me and my troops. 

“Alpha Jayden, we are ready to give the cure to Luna Cassandra,” the elder said in a loud voice. 

I let out a long howl, telling all my guards to herd the rogues away so the elders and doctor could do their job. 

And I hoped that.... the Ucalda plant could indeed be a cure for Cassie. 

While we were leading the rogues away, I heard a coughing sound from someone. 

I'll end this now. 

I jumped onto the biggest rogue that was still standing. I deliberately left it at the end so that I could enjoy killing it easily. 

I bit its neck, spun its body around and let go of its head. 

The battle with the rogue was over, it was time to pick up Cassie. 

I transformed back into my human form. I wiped the blood marks on my face roughly. 

“Damn, their blood is bitter!”
