Damien

“Alison!” I yelled as the sound of the gunfire filled the air once again. I reached out grabbing her hands and leading her down the stairs.

But the shots continued shattering more glasses, and suddenly the sound of a voice I knew so well filled the air.

“Come on santos!” Ares elder brother yelled. “I know you’re in there.”

“Shit!” I muttered moving in the direction of a room. How did they find us?

‘This wasn’t the time to dwell on that this wasn’t time to think of a way to escape. ‘

I turned to Alison who was shaking beside me. My eyes moved from her to the table at the corner of the room.

“Hide behind that!” I said in a firm voice. “And don’t move until I call for you.”

I watched as she ran in the direction of the table and my eyes landed on her arse. I pulled my eyes away trying not to think of that moment—the feeling of her arse, her wetness dripping into my fingers as I fucked her. I paused that thought.

I felt stupid—Stupid for losing control, but there was something about Alison. She did things to me that no girl has ever done.

The sound of gunshots echoed loudly once again, and reached for my gun in my pocket. it was action time.

I moved in the direction of the sound, and I found myself standing at the hallway with my gun pointed at Rio and his younger brother Edwardo.

Rio’s lips curled into a sneer as he looked at me. "Isn’t this the mighty Damien Santos? Or should I say El Diablo."

Before I could speak Rio beat me to it. "Did you really think you could sneak into my house, ruin my brother’s birthday party, and walk away without consequence?"

I tilted my head slightly. "Ruin?" I said. "I don’t recall ruining anything."

Rio’s younger brother, Edwardo, stepped forward, his face filled with rage.

"You killed our cousin and her boyfriend!" he spat.

A bitter laugh escaped me. I leaned against the wall casually, as though this was a friendly conversation.

"You should be thanking me you know," I said. "I did you a favor. Her ugliness was an abomination to society."

My words struck a nerve. Edwardo’s face flushed with fury as he raised his gun. "How dare you—"

Bang!

The shot rang out, but his aim was off. The bullet zipped past me, entering into the wall.

I didn’t flinch. Instead, I smirked. "Look at you," I taunted. "Shooting like a girl."

That was the breaking point. Both brothers began firing, the sound of their gunshot echoing throughout the mansion.

I ducked, feeling the heat of bullets whizzing past me. My gun was almost empty—just one bullet left. I needed Alison’s weapon.

Edwardo’s voice boomed as I tried to make my way back upstairs. "Show yourself, Santos! Stop hiding like a coward!"

I didn’t reply. Instead, I maneuvered toward the staircase, moving as quickly as I could.

“Found you!” Rio called behind me.

I turned and fired my last bullet. It grazed Rio’s arm, drawing a pained cry from him.

"You bloody bastard!" he yelled, clutching his arm. "I’ll blow your brains out for this!"

Ignoring his threats, I sprinted down the hall and burst into the room where Alison was.

"Stay quiet," I whispered as I crouched beside her. Her chest brushed against my arm, sending an electrifying feeling through me. I shook it off. Focus.

"Give me your gun," I ordered, and she handed it over with trembling hands. I checked the chamber—fully loaded. Perfect.

The brothers’ voices grew louder as they approached.

"Come out, Santos!" Edwardo barked. "Stop hiding like a scared little child!"

I stood readying myself to attack.

Suddenly Edwardo stepped into the room, with his gun pointing in my face.

"There you are," he sneered. "You’re such a coward, Santos. I don’t know why people fear you. After tonight, they won’t because you will be nothing but a lifeless body."

He pulled the trigger, but the shot missed, the bullet splintering the wall behind me. Alison let out a shriek, drawing Edwardo’s attention.

"What was that?" he said, narrowing his eyes.

Before I could react, Rio entered the room as well. Edwardo gestured toward the table.

"Check behind there. I think there’s someone hiding," he instructed.

I leveled my gun at Rio. "Take one more step, and I’ll put you down," I warned.

Rio smirked. He took a step forward anyway. I fired a shot, and the bullet touched his leg.

He winced, shoving his gun in my direction. He was about to fire but I beat him to it, and another bulllet landed on his second leg.

“Fuck!” Rio cried out.

“That would put you in your place.”

My eyes were placed on Rio that I didn’t know Edwardo was preparing to shot. It was the sound of the gunfire that made me turn in his direction.

“No!” I yelled but I was too late. The bullet had hit the little opening underneath the table.

The sound of Alison’s loud cry made my heart race.

"Alison!" I shouted as her cry of pain tore through the room.

I rushed to her side , and I saw blood seep from her chest.

"No," I whispered, noticing her breathing was shallow.

"Alison, stay with me," I pleaded. She didn’t respond and just seeing her in this state made me anger than I have ever been.

“Oh look, the great Santos is in love.” Rio spoke up.

“Don’t worry Damien ,” he said. “If your lover ends up dead, you have nothing to worry about because we are going to make sure you join her.”

The words hit me like a slap. My anger increased. Before I could think, I rose to my feet, and I aimed for Rio’s head.

Rio’s body jerked as the bullet found its mark. He crumpled to the ground, his grin replaced by a blank stare.

“Rio!” Edwardo’s voice cracked as he ran to his brother's side. Dropping to his knees, he cradled Rio’s lifeless body in his arms.

I turned away, and bent to lift Alison. My focus was on her—on getting her to safety. But Edwardo’s voice stopped me halfway.

“You’ve just written your own death sentence Santos.” he spat.

I let go of Alison, tilting my head to see Edwardo reach for his gun. During that moment, I pulled out my gun and fired, the bullet striking Edwardo in the shoulder. He stumbled back with a growl of pain.

I turned back to Alison, lifting her into my arms. Her blood stained my shirt, but I didn’t care. She was still alive—for now.

Edwardo, clutching his shoulder, screamed at me. ""I’ll make sure you regret ever pulling that trigger, Santos!

“I’ll end you tonight!" He added.

I ignored him, carrying Alison toward the door. He fired again, but the bullet went wide. He was out of bullet.

I heard him scrambling for Rio’s gun, but I didn’t stop. I pushed forward, my only thought to get Alison out of this hell.

The car they had arrived in was parked outside. I threw open the door and gently placed Alison in the passenger seat. She was fading fast, her breaths shallow.

"Hang in there," I whispered, starting the car.

Edwardo appeared at the entrance. He leveled a gun at me, before he could fire I sped off into the night.

"Stay with me, Alison," I muttered, glancing at her pale face.

In fact, I’m going to start working on the plans right away.”He paused, nodding as if Hugh could see him, then said, “I’m not drunk stop saying that.”“I mean it.” His voice grew rough. “You know what? It was midnight, and I had woken up to see that Aiden had returned my call from earlier, and now I couldn’t bring myself to call him back because of my fucking guilt.Aiden’s words from our last conversation haunted me: “Did Damien ever touch you?”I closed my eyes. He was surprisingly young with a tattoo decorated on his right hand.“Can you see him?” Damien questioned, his voice catching my attention.“Yes!” I replied.“Good,” Damien said briskly. “Remember to go ahead with the plan when you approach him. “I hesitated, questions growing in my mind. “But what if—”Before I could finish, Hugh appeared beside Damian, also in disguise. Alison Later the next day, Hugh brought out a bottle of whiskey and poured drinks for all of us. He lifted his glass with a smirk. “To us,” he said. Damien raised an eyebrow but didn’t pick up his glass. “Let’s not celebrate too soon.” Hugh rolled his eyes. “Come on, Damien. Have a little faith. Things are going to turn out just fine.” Damien scoffed, taking a slow sip from his glass. “That’s what you said last time we went up against Aiden. It didn’t exactly end well.” Hugh chuckled. “Touché.” He leaned back against the couch, stretching his legs out as he swirled the amber liquid in his glass. “You know, Alison, Damien wasn’t always the brooding, overprotective type. Back in the day, he was the one causing all the trouble.” I raised an eyebrow. “Oh really?” Damien let out a groan. “Hugh, don’t.” Hugh grinned, clearly enjoying himself. “Oh, I absolutely will.” He turned to me, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “There was this one time when we were kids—maybe fifteen

He tapped the cigarette against a nearby ashtray. “Now, let’s get started. First off, thank you for joining in, Alison.” His eyes locked on mine. “I know you’ve been through hell because of Aiden, and I don’t expect you to join but I’m glad you did.” I swallowed hard, my nails digging into my palm. “You don’t need to thank me I’m just doing what’s right.” Hugh nodded. “Good. I sat up, quickly.“Damien!” I said, after realizing he wasn’t by my side.‘Where did he go?’ I asked myself. He couldn’t be in the shower because I couldn’t hear the water running.I didn’t want to stay alone, so I threw the covers off my body and went to look for him as I made my way toward the door the voices I heard on the other side of the door stopped me in my tracks. It was Damien and Hugh. They happened to be arguing. I pressed my ear against the door, listening, and the more I listened the more I realized they weren’t arguing they were just talking with loud voices. “You have to choose Damien it’s either her or your grandfather’s contact. To me, both are necessary.” I heard Hugh say. “This isn’t the time to focus on emotions Damien. We need her!”There was a beat of silence before Damien spoke, in a tone that was lower and more controlled. “I’m trying to be considerate.” Hugh let ou

Her body clung to me like a second skin as I guided her up the stairs. The moment we stepped into the house, she mumbled something incoherent, already half-asleep. I smiled. “Alright, let’s get you to bed.”I led her to the bedroom, pulled back the covers, and eased her onto the mattress. She barely moved as I tucked her in. As I turned to leave, her hand shot out, gripping my wrist weakly. “Please can you stay with me?”“I’m not goin

The minute the car opened, I felt the cold air hit my face first, carrying with it the distant sound of passing vehicles. Were we on a main road? A city? Damien The moment I stepped into the mansion, I was shocked when I noticed that everywhere was quiet. I had expected to hear gunfire, shouting, and some sign of life. But instead, the only thing that greeted me was death. Bodies of my men were lined the front of the mansion. My hands tightened around my gun as I stepped past them, my pulse roaring in my ears. Where the hell was Hugh? I moved cautiously through the hallway, my gun raised, and my eyes scanning every shadow."Hugh?" I called out, my voice bouncing off the empty walls. There was no answer. I increased my pace, moving deeper into the mansion. My mind was already thinking about the worst, that something terrible might have happened to Hugh. It was during that moment I heard a sound. It was faint at first but then it became loud, it sounded almost like a groan."Hugh!" I called again, following the noise. This time, I heard him clearly. “Here…” His voice was hoarse, coming from one of the rooms upstairs. I
