Damien

I leaned back in my chair as I watched Silvia step into the study. The minute her eyes rested on me, she shot me a soft look.

“Damien!” Silvia said my name in a seductive manner. If it was years ago, I would have been clamoring at her feet.

Silvia and I dated once, and after we broke up, I decided to keep our relationship purely centered on business. Well, for Silvia it was a different story. She still tried to use her charms on me even though she knew it was never going to work.

“I thought you wouldn’t show up,” I said, pulling myself out of my haze of thoughts. “You ignored my calls.”

Silvia scoffed, brushing a strand of blonde hair off her shoulder. “And here I thought Damien Cruz never doubted me. Have you forgotten who I am?”

I smirked, my arms crossing over my chest. “I haven’t forgotten. That’s why, the moment my men told me I had a visitor, I knew it was you. No one else would be bold enough to show up unannounced.”

Silvia flashed a sly smile and sauntered over to the chair across from me, sitting down gracefully.

“So, why did you blow up my phone with several calls?” She leaned forward, her hands brushing against mine slightly. “Or are you missing me?”

“It has nothing to do with that.” I clarified, pulling myself backward. The brief moment our hands touched seemed to do nothing to me, unlike Alison’s touch. Why was I thinking about her?

“The way you stare at me shows how much you miss Damien me.” Silvia’s voice caught my attention.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself.” I said in a dry tone. “The reason I have been calling is that I have an important mission to discuss with you.”

Her eyes narrowed, a glimmer of amusement dancing across them. “A mission? Let me guess—it’s about your little gang politics. If it’s anything like that, count me out. I’ve already told Jac—”

“It’s not about that,” I interrupted in a sharp tone.

Silvia tilted her head, her lips curling into a teasing smirk. “Then what is it about?”

Before I could respond, the door burst open, slamming against the wall.

“What now?” I muttered, my voice filled with annoyance as I raised my head to see Alison standing in the doorway.

Alison’s cheeks rose as her eyes darted between me and Silvia. “I need to speak with you,” she said firmly with her eyes resting on me.

I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Alison, can’t you see I’m in the middle of an important discussion?”

Alison didn’t budge. “I know, but you can’t just push me away because I made one mistake. That ‘silly mistake’ nearly cost me my life, Damien.”

Why wouldn’t she just let things be?

“I told you I’d call for you when I need you. I’m not pushing you away,” I spoke in a firm voice. “And besides, Silvia is here for a task that you can’t handle.”

Alison stepped further into the room, her voice rising slightly. “I can handle it. Whatever she’s here for, I can do it.”

My frustration increased as I heard her speak. Why was she acting stubborn?

“You can’t and you won’t!” I spat. “And don’t make me repeat myself. I have already said what I have to say. Now leave.”

“So you’re going to choose this blonde bitch over me?” She said, ignoring my words.

Silvia, who had been silent until now, arched a perfectly shaped brow. “Who’s she calling ‘a bitch’?” she asked. “Damien, it’s high time you teach your girl some manners.”

“She’s not my girl,” I snapped, glaring at both women. Then I turned to Alison. “Get out. Now.”

But Alison wasn’t backing down. “I’m not leaving until you give me a chance to prove myself.”

I stared at her, unable to understand why she chose today of all days to act like a fucking bitch. What had gotten into her?

I stared back at her and I noticed she had a determined look in her eyes. Despite the anger rising in me, I kind of found that look pretty sexy.

The moment I watched her take a seat close to Silvia, the desire in me died, and my anger only tripled.

“God, Alison, why won’t you listen? You’re making this harder than it needs to be. Leave before I lose my patience.”

Alison crossed her arms. “I’m not going anywhere until you stop underestimating me.”

I slammed my hand on the desk. “Enough of this.” I said, walking to where she sat. I dragged her roughly towards the door. I arrived outside just in time to catch one of my men passing by.

“Take her to the dungeon and lock her up!” I instructed after calling out to him.

Alison’s eyes widened, and she stepped forward, her voice trembling as she spoke. “Damien, please. I’m sorry. Just give me a chance—”

Her words trailed off as my men dragged her down the hall. I hated what I was doing, but I knew keeping her around would only disrupt my meeting with Silvia.

I returned to the room and the minute Silvia sighted me; she let out a low whistle, catching my attention.

“Well, that was dramatic,” she said, leaning back in her chair. “Where on earth did you find that girl?”

I didn’t respond immediately. My eyes lingered on the doorway, a flicker of regret crossing my face. I exhaled sharply, forcing my emotions back under control.

“She’s not your concern,” I said curtly.

Silvia shrugged, her lips quirking into a smirk. “She seems like a handful. Are you sure you don’t want me to train her ?”

I shot her a warning look. “Focus on why you’re here, Silvia. We have work to do.”

Silvia chuckled softly, but her gaze turned serious. “Fine. Let’s talk business. But you might want to deal with your little toy before she becomes she becomes uncontrollable.”

I pulled my hands into fists under the table. I was trying my best not to snap at her.

“Let’s get started.” I said through gritted teeth.

Alison The dungeon was colder than I had expected. As I sat on the hard stone floor, hugging my knees. I tried to shake off the chill, but the real frostbite was the regret gnawing at my insides. My plan had backfired.Aiden had told me to find a way to get involved in Damien’s schemes, and what had I done? Barged into his study, demanded a place in his plans, and ended up locked in this hellhole. Great job, I thought bitterly.Gemma’s taunting voice pulled me from my thoughts. Her cage was just opposite mine.“Look who’s down here with the rest of us,” she said with a sharp laugh. Her face pressed against the bars of her cell. “Let me guess—you pissed off Damien, or he’s finally figured out you’re useless.”I didn’t respond. I turned my head, looking at the cold floor.“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” she pressed. “Or maybe it’s Damien? He’s good at shutting people up.”“Shut up, Gemma,” I muttered, leaning my head against the wall.“Touchy, touchy.” She grinned, her voice

AlisonI stared at Damien with a stunned look on my face. His words hung in the air as thoughts swirled in my mind.“Where are you going with this?” I finally asked.Damien’s lips curved into a sly grin, and he burst into laughter, his deep chuckle reverberating through the room. “Oh, don’t tell me you thought I meant riding as in the sexual activity. I was talking about horse riding.”My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and I averted my gaze, muttering under my breath. I was so stupid!“You’ve got a dirty mind, Alison,” he teased, his laughter subsiding.“Now, hearing you say this has made me curious?” He raised a brow. “Why don’t you show me just how good you are at riding?”His darkened gaze and raised brow made me gulp as his words echoed in my head.“I’m waiting, Alison!” He leaned backward, pointing at his lap.The tone of his voice was mystic, and at that point I began to imagine myself in him.“Are you shy Alison?” He asked. AlisonThe underground horse-riding betting spot was unlike anything I’d ever seen. A sprawling arena with a clamor of horses.Damien and I arrived dressed for the occasion—wide-brimmed hats, polished boots, and leather jackets. We were a bit over dressed but Damien made it seem like it wasn’t a big deal.He turned to me, pointing toward a man near the horses. “That’s Rodrigo.”I turned my head in the direction he was pointing at.I expected Rodrigo to be much older, but I was wrong. He was surprisingly young with a tattoo decorated on his right hand.“Can you see him?” Damien questioned, his voice catching my attention.“Yes!” I replied.“Good,” Damien said briskly. “Remember to go ahead with the plan when you approach him. “I hesitated, questions growing in my mind. “But what if—”Before I could finish, Hugh appeared beside Damian, also in disguise. He tipped his hat slightly, hiding his face, but I could still recognize him.“What are you doing here?” Damien asked in a shocked ton

After several thoughts, an idea finally popped up in my head.“My friend ditched me,” I lied, shrugging. “She’s not answering my calls, and I have no idea how I’m getting back to the hotel.” Rodrigo studied me, his dark eyes unreadable. Then, to my surprise, he smiled. “I could take you to your hotel.” I blinked, caught off guard. “Don’t you need t

AlisonDamien’s voice followed me as I stormed upstairs. “Stop walking away when I’m talking to you,” he snapped, the sound of his footsteps growing louder.I spun around at the top of the staircase, glaring at him. “What do you want me to say, Damien? That you left me out there alone?”He crossed his arms over his chest as he spoke. “It was Hugh’s idea.”“Oh, so that makes it okay?” I shot back.“You have no right to be angry at me,” Damien replied sharply. “I don’t see what the big deal is. If I had sent Silvia, she would’ve gotten the job done without me babysitting her.”I shook my head, biting back another retort. His voice picked up, colder than before. “This is the last time I’m going to ask. How did things go?”I muttered under my breath, “Fine.”Damien’s eyebrows arched. “Fine? That’s all you’ve got to say?”“He invited me to the ranch tomorrow,” I added begrudgingly. “And he dropped me off after you left me out there.”Damien’s gaze sharpened. “He didn’t bring you here, did

DamienThe past few days have been the most devastating moments of my life, watching Alison come back from her horse riding lessons with Rodrigo was starting to eat away at me. Every evening, she returned with no tangible information, yet her face glowed with a smile that made my blood boil. I hated seeing her like that. Was it jealousy? Perhaps. I hadn’t been able to make her smile like that in all the time she had been here, yet Rodrigo had her laughing and glowing as if her life wasn’t dangling by a thread. The thought of it made my skin crawl. That evening, as she stepped into the apartment, I couldn’t control myself. The sight of her bright smile pushed me over the edge. I grabbed her roughly by the arm, yanking her into the room before she could even drop her bag. "What the hell is this game you’re playing, Alison?" I demanded, in a sharp tone. She looked at me, startled. "What game? What are you talking about?" I let out a bitter laugh, releasing her arm but stepping closer.

It was the only solace I had, a momentary escape from the chaos of my life.As the steam filled the room, my phone buzzed on the counter. AlisonThe next morning, I woke up with a heavy feeling in my chest. Last night’s events played on a loop in my mind—Damien’s outburst, his threats, and the way he’d shoved me toward the edge of that rooftop. It left me shaken, but I knew better than to let my fear show.As I stepped out into the hallway. My eyes fell on Damien. The tension between us couldn’t be ignored as we stared into each other’s eyes.I hesitated for a moment, but before I could walk past him, he flashed me the same cold expression he’d worn the night before.“Here,” he said, thrusting a small packet into my hand. I stared down at it, wondering what could be inside.“What is this?” I asked, in a low tone, that seemed to come out as a whisper.“Something to spike Rodrigo’s drink,” he replied flatly. “If he invites you to his home—which I’m sure he will—make sure you add this to his drink. It’ll knock him out for a good while giving you some time to get the contract.”I nodded, slipping the packet into my pocket.

Alison Later the next day, Hugh brought out a bottle of whiskey and poured drinks for all of us. He lifted his glass with a smirk. “To us,” he said. Damien raised an eyebrow but didn’t pick up his glass. “Let’s not celebrate too soon.” Hugh rolled his eyes. “Come on, Damien. Have a little faith. Things are going to turn out just fine.” Damien scoffed, taking a slow sip from his glass. “That’s what you said last time we went up against Aiden. It didn’t exactly end well.” Hugh chuckled. “Touché.” He leaned back against the couch, stretching his legs out as he swirled the amber liquid in his glass. “You know, Alison, Damien wasn’t always the brooding, overprotective type. Back in the day, he was the one causing all the trouble.” I raised an eyebrow. “Oh really?” Damien let out a groan. “Hugh, don’t.” Hugh grinned, clearly enjoying himself. “Oh, I absolutely will.” He turned to me, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “There was this one time when we were kids—maybe fifteen

The faint scent of smoke curled around him as he flicked the ash onto the floor. Damien leaned back, eyeing the board. “I really want to know how you got that board.” Hugh exhaled a cloud of smoke. “Can we just focus on the plan?” Damien shrugged. “I’m just saying, it’s a little much.” Hugh rolled his eyes. “Noted but I’m not going to do anything about it.” Damien furrowed his eyebrows but Hugh seemed not to notice. He tapped the cigarette against a nearby ashtray. “Now, let’s get started. First off, thank you for joining in, Alison.” His eyes locked on mine. “I know you’ve been through hell because of Aiden, and I don’t expect you to join but I’m glad you did.” I swallowed hard, my nails digging into my palm. “You don’t need to thank me I’m just doing what’s right.” Hugh nodded. “Good. Alison The moment I rolled to the other side of the bed and found out it was empty. I sat up, quickly.“Damien!” I said, after realizing he wasn’t by my side.‘Where did he go?’ I asked myself. He couldn’t be in the shower because I couldn’t hear the water running.I didn’t want to stay alone, so I threw the covers off my body and went to look for him as I made my way toward the door the voices I heard on the other side of the door stopped me in my tracks. It was Damien and Hugh. They happened to be arguing. I pressed my ear against the door, listening, and the more I listened the more I realized they weren’t arguing they were just talking with loud voices. “You have to choose Damien it’s either her or your grandfather’s contact. To me, both are necessary.” I heard Hugh say. “This isn’t the time to focus on emotions Damien. We need her!”There was a beat of silence before Damien spoke, in a tone that was lower and more controlled. “I’m trying to be considerate.” Hugh let ou

DamienThe minute I passed the sign that welcomed us to the city. I felt a bit relieved.I drove through the streets, with so much speed I couldn’t wait to get to my destination and relax. I was exhausted. When we finally pulled up to the house, I glanced at Alison. Her head was leaning against the window, her breathing soft and steady. She was barely keeping her eyes open. I reached over, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Come on,” I murmured. “Let’s get you inside.”She stirred slightly but didn’t argue when I helped her out of the car. Her body clung to me like a second skin as I guided her up the stairs. The moment we stepped into the house, she mumbled something incoherent, already half-asleep. I smiled. “Alright, let’s get you to bed.”I led her to the bedroom, pulled back the covers, and eased her onto the mattress. She barely moved as I tucked her in. As I turned to leave, her hand shot out, gripping my wrist weakly. “Please can you stay with me?”“I’m not goin

The minute the car opened, I felt the cold air hit my face first, carrying with it the distant sound of passing vehicles. Were we on a main road? A city? Was this where I die, before I could process my thoughts, a firm hand gripped my arm. A second later, I felt the ropes around my wrists being yanked loose. Then the blindfold came off. I blinked rapidly as light flooded my vision. When I finally saw who was standing in front of me, my breath caught in my throat. “Oh my God…”I could barely get the words out. It was Damien. He had saved me.My body moved before I could think—I threw myself at him, my arms wrapping around his torso, holding onto him as if I needed proof that he was real.“Damien!” I finally woke.He let out a small chuckle, as he wrapped his arms around me. “Surprised?” he murmured

Where were they taking me? And where was I?Suddenly I was dropped. Pain shot through my body as I hit the hard, cold floor. A groan slipped past my lips, but I barely had time to process the discomfort before the sound of heavy boots retreating filled the air. I swallowed, my throat dry. “Hello?” My voice wavered. “Who’s there?” There was no answer. The silence that followed made me realize I was all alone.I lay still, with my chest rising and falling with panicked breaths. My heart pounded so loudly that it drowned out the quiet. I had no idea where I was. And worse—I had no idea who had me. Regret churned in my stomach. I shouldn’t

Damien The moment I stepped into the mansion, I was shocked when I noticed that everywhere was quiet. I had expected to hear gunfire, shouting, and some sign of life. But instead, the only thing that greeted me was death. Bodies of my men were lined the front of the mansion. My hands tightened around my gun as I stepped past them, my pulse roaring in my ears. Where the hell was Hugh? I moved cautiously through the hallway, my gun raised, and my eyes scanning every shadow."Hugh?" I called out, my voice bouncing off the empty walls. There was no answer. I increased my pace, moving deeper into the mansion. My mind was already thinking about the worst, that something terrible might have happened to Hugh. It was during that moment I heard a sound. It was faint at first but then it became loud, it sounded almost like a groan."Hugh!" I called again, following the noise. This time, I heard him clearly. “Here…” His voice was hoarse, coming from one of the rooms upstairs. I
