Alison

I stood at the back of the mansion, my phone trembling in my hand. It was midnight, and I had woken up to see that Aiden had returned my call from earlier, and now I couldn’t bring myself to call him back because of my fucking guilt.

Aiden’s words from our last conversation haunted me: “Did Damien ever touch you?”

I closed my eyes. Shame rushed over me as I remembered my encounter with Damien. How had I allowed that to happen? If Hugh hadn’t showed up I would have let Damien go farther.

Suddenly, Damien’s voice echoed in my head, “You’re doing things to me that I don’t fucking understand.”

Was it just lust for him too, or something else entirely? I shook my head. Why did I care? Damien was a killer.

It was sad that no matter how many times I say this. It still didn’t change anything.

I couldn’t stay in this limbo. I needed to leave. My fingers hesitated over my phone screen, but finally, I called Aiden.

“Alison,” Aiden answered quickly. “What’s going on? I have been calling you.”

I exhaled shakily. “I was sleeping. I’m so sorry.”

“It’s fine.” Aiden grunted.

“So why did you call earlier?” His voice was stern, and his concerned tone had disappeared. “I hope you have some tangible information.”

“I do.” I replied sharply. “I know what Damien is planning. He’s targeting the Pérez family, and he’s also working towards turning the gangs against each other without them having the slightest clue that he was behind it.”

Aiden grew silent, and for seconds, I didn’t hear him say a single word.

“Did you hear what I said?” I asked, glancing behind me. The sound of rustling tress, made me fear that someone might be near, but I was wrong. It was just the wind.

“We need to turn his plans against him. I’ll figure something out. Don’t worry.” I heard Aiden say.

“How?” I pressed. “How are you going to contact all those mafia men without Alberto? Damien has wiped him out.”

Aiden was quiet for a moment before he replied, “I have my ways. Just focus on your part, Alison. You need to figure out more details of his plans and get evidence—recordings, documents, anything. We can’t act without solid proof.”

I bit my lip. “Aiden, I don’t know if I can stay here much longer. This place… Damien… he’s—”

Aiden’s voice softened as he cut me off. “I know it’s hard, but you have to stay strong. You’re doing this for your father, remember?”

I wanted to tell him how close I was to losing myself, how close I was to letting Damien pull me into his darkness. How close I was to letting my guard and letting him fuck me. How close I was to cheating on him.

‘You don’t need to worry.’ My mind bellowed. ‘Aiden cheated to. He kissed Mabel.’

That was different. I hurt him. This was…

My thoughts trailed off when I heard footsteps approaching.

“I have to go,” I whispered urgently, ending the call.

***

The next morning, I found Damien already awake, sitting in the study with a cup of coffee in hand. He was staring at a document and was unaware of my presence.

I hesitated at the door before stepping in.

“Good morning,” I said cautiously.

Damien looked up. He flashed me a sharp gaze, and I saw a hint of irritation in his eyes.

“Who told you to come in here?” He quizzed.

“I just wanted to check on you,” I said. “You were pretty drunk last night,.”

“Well, you’ve checked on me,” he said flatly, gesturing toward the door. “Now you can leave.”

His bipolar side was reactivated, and today he decided to show me his cold side.

I turned to go but stopped myself, gathering my courage. “Damien, about last night… you mentioned your plans to bring down the Pérez family. I was thinking, maybe there’s something I can do to help?”

Damien’s eyes narrowed. “You’ve done enough,” he said coldly.

“Are you still angry about the whole shooting stuff?” I asked, my voice softer now. “I promise to do my best next time.”

Damien stood abruptly, towering over me. “I don’t have time for this, Alison. I have important things to do. If I need you, I’ll let you know. Now leave.”

I swallowed hard, fighting back the sting of his words. Why was he acting so cold? Like he didn’t want to have anything to do with me. I hope that wasn’t the case because if it was. It would be game over for Aiden and I.

I stared back at Damien. I felt the urge to speak, but before I could say anything else, one of Damien’s men appeared at the door.

“Sir, you have a visitor,” the man said.

Damien nodded. “Let her in.”

‘Her?’ I repeated inwardly in a shocked tone.

A moment later, a striking blonde with dark blue eyes stepped into the room. She was wearing a leather pant that highlighted her curves perfectly. She glanced at me briefly before walking past me into the study.

Damien gestured toward the door with a warm look on his face. “Shut it,”

I stood there, watching as the door clicked shut behind her. Something about the way Damien’s demeanor shifted with her presence left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I tried to walk away, to mind my own business, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that lingered within me.

I stopped mid-step, turned back, and opened the door in a slow manner. I silently hoped for the door to not give me away. I didn’t want Damien to know I was eavesdropping.

I could see Damien lean back in his chair, watching the lady walk towards him. He had a sly smile on his face that made it seem like a way satisfied to see her.

No! It couldn’t be, maybe. I was misinterpreting the whole situation. I looked back at him and the look on his face grew.

The lady was close to his desk, and I watched as she leaned against it.

My chest tightened. I didn’t know why I felt so unsettled by the scene before me, and I couldn’t ignore the pang of jealousy twisting in my gut.

Allowing my emotions to take over, I opened the door wide, stepping into the study.

If it was years ago, I would have been clamoring at her feet.Silvia and I dated once, and after we broke up, I decided to keep our relationship purely centered on business. Well, for Silvia it was a different story. She still tried to use her charms on me even though she knew it was never going to work.“I thought you wouldn’t show up,” I said, pulling myself out of my haze of thoughts. “You ignored my calls.”Silvia scoffed, brushing a strand of blonde hair off her shoulder. “And here I thought Damien Cruz never doubted me. Have you forgotten who I am?”I smirked, my arms crossing over my chest. “I haven’t forgotten. That’s why, the moment my men told me I had a visitor, I knew it was you. No one else would be bold enough to show up unannounced.”Silvia flashed a sly smile and sauntered over to the c

Alison The dungeon was colder than I had expected. As I sat on the hard stone floor, hugging my knees. I tried to shake off the chill, but the real frostbite was the regret gnawing at my insides. My plan had backfired.Aiden had told me to find a way to get involved in Damien’s schemes, and what had I done? Barged into his study, demanded a place in his plans, and ended up locked in this hellhole. Great job, I thought bitterly.Gemma’s taunting voice pulled me from my thoughts. Her cage was just opposite mine.“Look who’s down here with the rest of us,” she said with a sharp laugh. Her face pressed against the bars of her cell. “Let me guess—you pissed off Damien, or he’s finally figured out you’re useless.”I didn’t respond. I turned my head, looking at the cold floor.“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” she pressed. “Or maybe it’s Damien? He’s good at shutting people up.”“Shut up, Gemma,” I muttered, leaning my head against the wall.“Touchy, touchy.” She grinned, her voice

His words hung in the air as thoughts swirled in my mind.“Where are you going with this?” I finally asked.Damien’s lips curved into a sly grin, and he burst into laughter, his deep chuckle reverberating through the room. “Oh, don’t tell me you thought I meant riding as in the sexual activity. I was talking about horse riding.”My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and I averted my gaze, muttering under my breath. I was so stupid!“You’ve got a dirty mind, Alison,” he teased, his laughter subsiding.“Now, hearing you say this has made me curious?” He raised a brow. “Why don’t you show me just how good you are at riding?”His darkened gaze and raised brow made me gulp as his words echoed in my head.“I’m waiting, Alison!” He leaned backward, pointing at his lap.The tone of his voice was mystic, and at that point I began to imagine myself in him.“Are you shy Alison?” He asked. AlisonThe underground horse-riding betting spot was unlike anything I’d ever seen. A sprawling arena with a clamor of horses.Damien and I arrived dressed for the occasion—wide-brimmed hats, polished boots, and leather jackets. We were a bit over dressed but Damien made it seem like it wasn’t a big deal.He turned to me, pointing toward a man near the horses. “That’s Rodrigo.”I turned my head in the direction he was pointing at.I expected Rodrigo to be much older, but I was wrong. He was surprisingly young with a tattoo decorated on his right hand.“Can you see him?” Damien questioned, his voice catching my attention.“Yes!” I replied.“Good,” Damien said briskly. “Remember to go ahead with the plan when you approach him. “I hesitated, questions growing in my mind. “But what if—”Before I could finish, Hugh appeared beside Damian, also in disguise. He tipped his hat slightly, hiding his face, but I could still recognize him.“What are you doing here?” Damien asked in a shocked ton

After several thoughts, an idea finally popped up in my head.“My friend ditched me,” I lied, shrugging. “She’s not answering my calls, and I have no idea how I’m getting back to the hotel.” Rodrigo studied me, his dark eyes unreadable. Then, to my surprise, he smiled. “I could take you to your hotel.” I blinked, caught off guard. “Don’t you need t

If I had sent Silvia, she would’ve gotten the job done without me babysitting her.”I shook my head, biting back another retort. His voice picked up, colder than before. “This is the last time I’m going to ask. DamienThe past few days have been the most devastating moments of my life, watching Alison come back from her horse riding lessons with Rodrigo was starting to eat away at me. Every evening, she returned with no tangible information, yet her face glowed with a smile that made my blood boil. I hated seeing her like that. Was it jealousy? Perhaps. I hadn’t been able to make her smile like that in all the time she had been here, yet Rodrigo had her laughing and glowing as if her life wasn’t dangling by a thread. The thought of it made my skin crawl. That evening, as she stepped into the apartment, I couldn’t control myself. The sight of her bright smile pushed me over the edge. I grabbed her roughly by the arm, yanking her into the room before she could even drop her bag. "What the hell is this game you’re playing, Alison?" I demanded, in a sharp tone. She looked at me, startled. "What game? What are you talking about?" I let out a bitter laugh, releasing her arm but stepping closer.

Were you able to see the person’s face?”“I—I wasn’t,” I admitted. “Like I had told you some seconds ago the person was wearing a hoodie and when I yelled he ran out.” Before Damien could respond, the door swung open, and Hugh stepped inside. The tension in my body hadn’t eased, as I still thought about Hugh and what had transpired between us.At this point, my mind was fueled by frustration and anger. I needed a drink. As I headed down to my wine cellar, I barely made it halfway before Hugh stepped out of the shadows, blocking my path. I clenched my jaw. “Not in the mood, Hugh.” He didn’t move, and that made me even more angry.“I don’t want to talk to you.” I declared.“Stop acting like a fucking child!” Hugh said and my eyes widened.“Says the man that acted in a crazed manner.” I groaned and Hugh seemed to take my words to heart because I noticed as. His expression went from neutral to angry.“If anyone was to hear what I did they would commend my actions,” Hugh said. “I acted like a true mafia leader.”“You took matters into your own hands there’s nothing true about that .” Hugh crossed his arms. “I did what was necessary.” I let out a bitter laugh.

Alison I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head as my eyes fluttered open. The world around me was blurry at first, but as my vision cleared, I realized I was in an unfamiliar room. My arms were numb, and when I tried to move, I felt the rough bite of ropes cutting into my wrists. I was tied to a chair. I blinked hard, forcing myself to focus. Then my eyes landed on Hugh. He stood in front of me with a stern expression. For a moment, I didn’t know if I was still dreaming, if maybe this was some horrible nightmare I was about to wake up from. But the cold metal of the chair beneath me and the tight restraints around my wrists told me this was very real. I swallowed hard. “Why am I here?” Hugh smirked and took a slow step forward. “You don’t know?” I shook my head, refusing to let the fear show. “No.” “Well,” he said, pulling out a gun and leveling it at my face, “you’re about to find out.” My pulse skyrocketed, my breath hitching as I stared down the barrel of the gun. I tried to convince myself that maybe I was just overthinking things, but I couldn’t get rid of that restless feeling within me. Where was she? And why was she taking too long?I stood up abruptly, tossing a few bills on the counter, not bothering to finish my drink. I needed to find her. I pushed through the crowd and made my way toward the restroom area, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but there was no sign of her anywhere. I approached a lady coming out of the bathroom stall. “Excuse me,” I said, trying to remain calm, “Have you seen a woman about this tall? Long hair, wearing a dark dress?” I gave her the most detailed description I could muster. She looked at me, furrowing her brow, and shook her head. “Sorry, no one like that.” I raised up my brow, not convinced by her words. “Are you sure? She was with me

I Alison My eyes fell on the drink I was once nursing avoiding Damien’s alluring stare. Once again, Damien had messed with my mind. It was almost like I was stuck in a loop, constantly coming close to something with Damien, but never really crossing the line. That moment, just before he leaned in to kiss me, left me yearning for more. But it wasn’t just that. It wasn’t just his touch or the way his presence seemed to consume me. It was everything. It was the tension between us, the way he could completely control the situation. Sighing, I let myself collapse into the seat, my hand resting on my lap. Damien, noticing my frustration, turned his head to look at me. That sly grin crept onto his face, the one that seemed to make him look so infuriatingly in control of everything. "What’s wrong?" he asked, in a calm voice. Almost too calm. The nerve of him, acting like nothing had happened. Just like what he did when he fucked Gemma in front of me. I wanted to scream at him
