Alison

The dungeon was colder than I had expected. As I sat on the hard stone floor, hugging my knees. I tried to shake off the chill, but the real frostbite was the regret gnawing at my insides. My plan had backfired.

Aiden had told me to find a way to get involved in Damien’s schemes, and what had I done? Barged into his study, demanded a place in his plans, and ended up locked in this hellhole. Great job, I thought bitterly.

Gemma’s taunting voice pulled me from my thoughts. Her cage was just opposite mine.

“Look who’s down here with the rest of us,” she said with a sharp laugh. Her face pressed against the bars of her cell. “Let me guess—you pissed off Damien, or he’s finally figured out you’re useless.”

I didn’t respond. I turned my head, looking at the cold floor.

“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” she pressed. “Or maybe it’s Damien? He’s good at shutting people up.”

“Shut up, Gemma,” I muttered, leaning my head against the wall.

“Touchy, touchy.” She grinned, her voice filled with mockery. “Well, enjoy your stay. You’ll be here a while. Damien doesn’t let go of grudges easily.”

Her laughter echoed as I closed my eyes, trying to tune her out. I replayed my conversation with Damien in my head, dissecting every word.

I had been impulsive, reckless even, and now I was paying the price.

Aiden was going to kill me. That was if he would ever get the chance to see me again. I might end up rotting in this freaking cage.

‘What was I thinking?’ I sighed. I spent hour after hour thinking about how my actions had messed things up.

Gemma made it worse by taunting me with her words.

I didn’t know that I fell asleep until I heard the sound of the cage rattling.

“Get up.” A voice said.

I opened my eyes to see one of Damien’s men standing outside my cell.

I didn’t act at first. I was confused. Why was he telling me to get up? Was he going to shoot me? Or worse, bury me alive based on Damien’s orders.

“I said get up!” He repeated, and I obeyed this time.

“Damien wants to see you,” he said, unlocking the cell door in a fast manner.

I stared at him, confused. “Why?”

“I don’t have an answer to that. Now Let’s go.”

As I stepped out, Gemma’s voice rang out behind me.

“What about me?” she yelled, rattling the bars of her cell. “You can’t just leave me here while she gets a free pass!”

Then her voice dropped only to pick up again. “But if you’re going to kill her, I have no problem staying here.”

“You’re going to be dead meat Alison!” She taunted. “You will end up being nothing but a memory.”

“Hey you listen to me.” Her tone sounded hoarse. “Make sure you remind Damien that I’m still down here once you’re done with her.”

The guard ignored her, motioning for me to follow. I glanced back at Gemma, her furious face pressed against the bars, and for a brief moment, I felt a bit uneasy.

Then I reminded myself that Gemma’s taunts were the last thing I needed to care about right now.

The walk felt endless. My heart thudded in my chest, and my palms were slick with sweat. What did Damien want? Was he going to lecture me again, or worse, kill me like Gemma said, or was he going to punish me further?

When we arrived, the guard opened the door, and we stepped aside. Damien was seated at his desk, his head bent over a stack of papers. The light from the chandelier made shadows reflect across his face, making him look even more intimidating.

I gulped really hard, realizing the next moment determines whether I lie or die.

“Sit,” he said without looking up.

I hesitated, then slid into the chair across from him. The room was silent except for the faint rustle of paper as he finished whatever he was working on.

Finally, he set his pen down and leaned back in his chair, his darkened blue eyes locking onto mine.

“Why did you send for me?” I gathered the courage to speak. I was so desperate for answers, and the fact Damien was stalling left me with no choice but to speak.

“You wanted to redeem yourself right?” he asked, and I shook my head.

“I’m going to be giving you a chance to do so.” He replied.

I felt relieved. So I wasn’t going to die or be punished. Actually, getting punished didn’t seem like a bad idea.

I paused as that thought settled in my mind. Here I was again, thinking about Damien in the wrong way.

“Why the sudden silence?” Damien’s voice caught my attention.

“I thought you wanted that girl to handle the job.”

He shrugged, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “I did. But then I thought about it. Why pay an outsider a ridiculous amount for something you could do for free?”

There was this look on his face that made me feel he had other reasons for his sudden change of plans, but I didn’t press further.

“So are you in?” Damien asked, as he leaned forward. “Or do you want to pull out ?”

“No!” I said sharply. “I’m in.”

Damian narrowed his gaze, and I saw him ease back into the chair. The way looked at me was quite different from the way he looked at Silvia when she walked in.

Once again, I was starting to feel jealous.

I pushed the feeling aside, forcing myself to speak up. "So what’s the job?”

“Before I tell you all about it. I have one important question to ask you.” Damien’s voice grew stern.

“What’s that?” I asked in a low tone.

Damien’s smirk deepened as he leaned forward. “Tell me, how good are you at riding?”

AlisonI stared at Damien with a stunned look on my face. His words hung in the air as thoughts swirled in my mind.“Where are you going with this?” I finally asked.Damien’s lips curved into a sly grin, and he burst into laughter, his deep chuckle reverberating through the room. “Oh, don’t tell me you thought I meant riding as in the sexual activity. I was talking about horse riding.”My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and I averted my gaze, muttering under my breath. I was so stupid!“You’ve got a dirty mind, Alison,” he teased, his laughter subsiding.“Now, hearing you say this has made me curious?” He raised a brow. “Why don’t you show me just how good you are at riding?”His darkened gaze and raised brow made me gulp as his words echoed in my head.“I’m waiting, Alison!” He leaned backward, pointing at his lap.The tone of his voice was mystic, and at that point I began to imagine myself in him.“Are you shy Alison?” He asked. AlisonThe underground horse-riding betting spot was unlike anything I’d ever seen. A sprawling arena with a clamor of horses.Damien and I arrived dressed for the occasion—wide-brimmed hats, polished boots, and leather jackets. We were a bit over dressed but Damien made it seem like it wasn’t a big deal.He turned to me, pointing toward a man near the horses. “That’s Rodrigo.”I turned my head in the direction he was pointing at.I expected Rodrigo to be much older, but I was wrong. He was surprisingly young with a tattoo decorated on his right hand.“Can you see him?” Damien questioned, his voice catching my attention.“Yes!” I replied.“Good,” Damien said briskly. “Remember to go ahead with the plan when you approach him. “I hesitated, questions growing in my mind. “But what if—”Before I could finish, Hugh appeared beside Damian, also in disguise. He tipped his hat slightly, hiding his face, but I could still recognize him.“What are you doing here?” Damien asked in a shocked ton

After several thoughts, an idea finally popped up in my head.“My friend ditched me,” I lied, shrugging. “She’s not answering my calls, and I have no idea how I’m getting back to the hotel.” Rodrigo studied me, his dark eyes unreadable. Then, to my surprise, he smiled. “I could take you to your hotel.” I blinked, caught off guard. “Don’t you need t

That you left me out there alone?”He crossed his arms over his chest as he spoke. “It was Hugh’s idea.”“Oh, so that makes it okay?” I shot back.“You have no right to be angry at me,” Damien replied sharply. “I don’t see what the big deal is. If I had sent Silvia, she would’ve gotten the job done without me babysitting her.”I shook my head, biting back another retort. His voice picked up, colder than before. “This is the last time I’m going to ask. How did things go?”I muttered under my breath, “Fine.”Damien’s eyebrows arched. “Fine? That’s all you’ve got to say?”“He invited me to the ranch tomorrow,” I added begrudgingly. “And he dropped me off after you left me out there.”Damien’s gaze sharpened. “He didn’t bring you here, did

DamienThe past few days have been the most devastating moments of my life, watching Alison come back from her horse riding lessons with Rodrigo was starting to eat away at me. Every evening, she returned with no tangible information, yet her face glowed with a smile that made my blood boil. I hated seeing her like that. Was it jealousy? Perhaps. I hadn’t been able to make her smile like that in all the time she had been here, yet Rodrigo had her laughing and glowing as if her life wasn’t dangling by a thread. The thought of it made my skin crawl. That evening, as she stepped into the apartment, I couldn’t control myself. The sight of her bright smile pushed me over the edge. I grabbed her roughly by the arm, yanking her into the room before she could even drop her bag. "What the hell is this game you’re playing, Alison?" I demanded, in a sharp tone. She looked at me, startled. "What game? What are you talking about?" I let out a bitter laugh, releasing her arm but stepping closer.

It was the only solace I had, a momentary escape from the chaos of my life.As the steam filled the room, my phone buzzed on the counter. I grabbed a towel and quickly reached for it, relieved to see Aiden’s name on the screen. AlisonThe next morning, I woke up with a heavy feeling in my chest. Last night’s events played on a loop in my mind—Damien’s outburst, his threats, and the way he’d shoved me toward the edge of that rooftop. It left me shaken, but I knew better than to let my fear show.As I stepped out into the hallway. My eyes fell on Damien. The tension between us couldn’t be ignored as we stared into each other’s eyes.I hesitated for a moment, but before I could walk past him, he flashed me the same cold expression he’d worn the night before.“Here,” he said, thrusting a small packet into my hand. I stared down at it, wondering what could be inside.“What is this?” I asked, in a low tone, that seemed to come out as a whisper.“Something to spike Rodrigo’s drink,” he replied flatly. “If he invites you to his home—which I’m sure he will—make sure you add this to his drink. It’ll knock him out for a good while giving you some time to get the contract.”I nodded, slipping the packet into my pocket.

AlisonI was still thinking of a plan as I paced around the room. When I moved to the window, I decided to check if I could see the driveway from this side of the house. Maybe I could catch a glimpse of Damien’s car.As I peeked through the curtains,There was no sign of Damien’s car. The driveway was empty, except for Rodrigo’s car. I cursed under my breath.Of course, I should have known better than to depend on him. Damien was always unpredictable—one second, he was barking orders, and the next, he was gone without a trace.I had to figure this out myself. I took a deep breath to steady my nerves and glanced back at Rodrigo, still unconscious. If I was going to make this trip worth it, I needed to find that contract Damien was so desperate for. With shaky hands, I stepped out of the room and into the hallway. The air felt colder out here, the silence almost suffocating. My footsteps were careful and quiet as I moved down the corridor. My eyes darted to every door I passed, my pulse

Were you able to see the person’s face?”“I—I wasn’t,” I admitted. “Like I had told you some seconds ago the person was wearing a hoodie and when I yelled he ran out.” Before Damien could respond, the door swung open, and Hugh stepped inside. As I headed down to my wine cellar, I barely made it halfway before Hugh stepped out of the shadows, blocking my path. I clenched my jaw. “Not in the mood, Hugh.” He didn’t move, and that made me even more angry.“I don’t want to talk to you.” I declared.“Stop acting like a fucking child!” Hugh said and my eyes widened.“Says the man that acted in a crazed manner.” I groaned and Hugh seemed to take my words to heart because I noticed as. His expression went from neutral to angry.“If anyone was to hear what I did they would commend my actions,” Hugh said. “I acted like a true mafia leader.”“You took matters into your own hands there’s nothing true about that .” Hugh crossed his arms. “I did what was necessary.” I let out a bitter laugh.

Alison I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head as my eyes fluttered open. The world around me was blurry at first, but as my vision cleared, I realized I was in an unfamiliar room. My arms were numb, and when I tried to move, I felt the rough bite of ropes cutting into my wrists. I was tied to a chair. I blinked hard, forcing myself to focus. Then my eyes landed on Hugh. He stood in front of me with a stern expression. For a moment, I didn’t know if I was still dreaming, if maybe this was some horrible nightmare I was about to wake up from. But the cold metal of the chair beneath me and the tight restraints around my wrists told me this was very real. I swallowed hard. “Why am I here?” Hugh smirked and took a slow step forward. “You don’t know?” I shook my head, refusing to let the fear show. “No.” “Well,” he said, pulling out a gun and leveling it at my face, “you’re about to find out.” My pulse skyrocketed, my breath hitching as I stared down the barrel of the gun. Damien The hours felt like they dragged on as I sat at the bar. I hadn't seen Alison for a while, and I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that something was wrong. I tried to convince myself that maybe I was just overthinking things, but I couldn’t get rid of that restless feeling within me. Where was she? And why was she taking too long?I stood up abruptly, tossing a few bills on the counter, not bothering to finish my drink. I needed to find her. I pushed through the crowd and made my way toward the restroom area, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but there was no sign of her anywhere. I approached a lady coming out of the bathroom stall. “Excuse me,” I said, trying to remain calm, “Have you seen a woman about this tall? Long hair, wearing a dark dress?” I gave her the most detailed description I could muster. She looked at me, furrowing her brow, and shook her head. “Sorry, no one like that.” I raised up my brow, not convinced by her words. “Are you sure? She was with me

I Alison My eyes fell on the drink I was once nursing avoiding Damien’s alluring stare. Once again, Damien had messed with my mind. It was almost like I was stuck in a loop, constantly coming close to something with Damien, but never really crossing the line. That moment, just before he leaned in to kiss me, left me yearning for more. But it wasn’t just that. It wasn’t just his touch or the way his presence seemed to consume me. It was everything. It was the tension between us, the way he could completely control the situation. Sighing, I let myself collapse into the seat, my hand resting on my lap. Damien, noticing my frustration, turned his head to look at me. That sly grin crept onto his face, the one that seemed to make him look so infuriatingly in control of everything. "What’s wrong?" he asked, in a calm voice. Almost too calm. The nerve of him, acting like nothing had happened. Just like what he did when he fucked Gemma in front of me. I wanted to scream at him
