Alison

The next morning, I woke up with a heavy feeling in my chest. Last night’s events played on a loop in my mind—Damien’s outburst, his threats, and the way he’d shoved me toward the edge of that rooftop. It left me shaken, but I knew better than to let my fear show.

As I stepped out into the hallway. My eyes fell on Damien. The tension between us couldn’t be ignored as we stared into each other’s eyes.

I hesitated for a moment, but before I could walk past him, he flashed me the same cold expression he’d worn the night before.

“Here,” he said, thrusting a small packet into my hand. I stared down at it, wondering what could be inside.

“What is this?” I asked, in a low tone, that seemed to come out as a whisper.

“Something to spike Rodrigo’s drink,” he replied flatly. “If he invites you to his home—which I’m sure he will—make sure you add this to his drink. It’ll knock him out for a good while giving you some time to get the contract.”

I nodded, slipping the packet into my pocket. This was the first time I’d been asked to do something like this, and I had a feeling it wasn’t going to go well.

“I’m coming with you this time. I’ll be waiting outside.” Damien added. “If things go according to plan and find it difficult to knock him out, call me immediately.”

He held out his hand, motioning for my phone. I hesitated, but handed it over. He punched his number into it before shoving it back at me.

“Don’t screw this up,” he said, walking past me without another word.

Later that day, I arrived at the ranch to meet Rodrigo for our usual horse riding session. My nerves were on edge, but I forced a smile as I greeted him. He seemed to notice nothing unusual, and soon enough, we were out in the open field.

After the lesson, Rodrigo invited me back to his house, just like he had done before.

I agreed, playing the part of the charming, slightly naïve woman he seemed to think I was.

As we drove, I noticed a car behind us, and after studying it carefully I realized it was Damien’s car. The car disappeared when we arrived at Rodrigo’s home.

Rodrigo’s home was just as impressive as I remembered—sprawling and luxurious, with tall windows that let in the afternoon sunlight. We settled into the living room, and he poured us both drinks.

“You know I didn’t take you for a girl who knows the good stuff!” Rodrigo said, pointing to the drink on the table.

I smiled as the thought of my times with Aiden crossed my mind. He was the reason why I could identify any wine—the good stuff, the bad stuff, and the strong ones.

My smile widened as I peered at Rodrigo. “I owe my wine knowledge to my endless adventures.”

“So you travel a lot?” He said as if to clarify and I nodded.

“I guess I should try that soon.” He added. “Leaving my business and traveling endlessly sounds like a good idea.”

“It is!”

As we continued to talk, Rodrigo’s phone buzzed. He frowned, glancing at the screen before excusing himself to take the call. I watched him disappear into another room, his voice rising in irritation as he argued with someone on the other end.

This was my chance.

I looked at the drink he’d left on the table, the glass sweating slightly from the condensation.

My hand shook as I pulled out the packet Damien had given me. For a moment, I hesitated. Should I go through with this? Or should I use the distraction to search for the contract Damien wanted?

The sound of Rodrigo’s voice echoed loudly, reminding me that I didn’t have much time. Deciding to stick to Damien’s plan, I tore the packet and quickly poured the liquid into Rodrigo’s drink.

I barely had time to compose myself before Rodrigo returned, looking irritated but trying to mask it with a polite smile.

“Sorry about that,” he said, settling back into his chair.

“It’s no big deal,” I replied, forcing a casual tone.

Rodrigo didn’t seem convinced. “It feels like a big deal,” he muttered, picking up his drink and taking a sip.

“I told you it’s fine,” I replied, trying to make my tone sound more convincing.

He didn’t dwell on that matter as he asked me about my famous adventure.

The minute I stopped talking and Rodrigo took over, I could barely focus on what he was saying.

My eyes kept darting to the glass in his hand, watching as he took another sip, then another.

“You know,” he said, leaning back slightly, “I never asked—where are you originally from?”

His question caught me off guard, but before I could answer, I noticed a slight change in his expression. His brow furrowed, and he blinked a few times as if trying to clear his vision.

“This... this drink is strong,” he mumbled, shaking his head slightly. “I didn’t expect it to hit me this quickly.”

He rubbed his temples, his movements sluggish. Panic started to creep in as he looked at me, suspicion flickering in his eyes.

“I feel...off,” he said in a slurred tone. “Did you... did you do something to my drink?”

My heart raced. “What? No, of course not!” I said, trying to sound shocked and offended.

But Rodrigo wasn’t buying it. He stood up, swaying slightly as he moved closer to me.

“Who sent you?” he demanded, his voice rising despite his clear struggle to stay conscious.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I stammered, backing away.

He took another step toward me, but he betrayed him, and he collapsed to the floor with a heavy thud.

For a moment, I just stood there, frozen.

My mind raced with a thousand thoughts, but I knew I couldn’t afford to waste time.

I pulled out my phone and quickly dialed Damien’s number, my hands shaking so badly that I almost dropped the device.

The phone rang once, twice, three times—but he didn’t pick up.

“Come on, Damien,” I muttered, pacing the room as I tried again.

Still no answer.

I looked down at Rodrigo’s unconscious form, my mind racing. What was I supposed to do now? I couldn’t just leave him here, but I couldn’t stay either.

An easy feeling bubbled up in my chest as I tried to come up with a plan. Damien’s words echoed in my head: ‘Don’t screw this up.’

I sighed heavily, trying to think harder. I couldn’t screw this up. I just couldn’t.

Damien Two fucking days had passed, and I was still monitoring Alison like a hawk.Gemma’s words replaying in my mind like an unwelcome echo fueled my actions. I told myself I was doing this to protect my operation, to figure out if there was any truth to Gemma’s accusations. But deep down, I knew there were other reasons. I wanted to be close to her. This morning I stood at the balcony, my arms resting on the cool metal railing as I stared down at Alison in the garden. She stood there, her arms wrapped around herself as the evening breeze played with her hair. There was something haunting about the way she moved—almost as if she carried a weight too heavy for her. During that time, I followed her around. I noticed her behavior had shifted—subtle things that most wouldn’t notice. The way she avoided looking me in the eye when I walked past her, the way she clutched her phone as if it held a lifeline, and the way she moved through the house quietly, wanting to be unnoticed. AlisonI hated being in this damn mansion. Every second I spent here, I felt like I was drowning.Damien was still avoiding me, and Gemma—God, Gemma—was as annoying as ever. The only peace I found was in the garden, where at least the air was fresh, and I could pretend for a little while that I wasn’t trapped in this never-ending nightmare. I stood among the roses, letting my fingers brush against the petals absentmindedly, trying to push away the thoughts clawing at the edges of my mind. The silence around me was comforting, but it didn’t last long. The sound of approaching footsteps made my shoulders stiffen. I turned around, and my eyes landed on Damien. He stood there casually, hands in his pockets, watching me with an expression I couldn’t read. “The weather is lovely, isn’t it?” he said. I blinked at him, confused. What the hell?“It is,” I replied slowly, unsure of where this was going. Damien nodded and looked up at the sky as if he truly cared about the weather. “My un

Alison I arrived at Damien’s study early, just as he’d instructed. The mansion was eerily silent at this hour, the only sound being the faint rustling of leaves outside. As I approached the study, I hesitated, my hand hovering near the door handle. That’s when I heard it. A low grunt. Followed by a moan. I froze. Another moan, this was louder than the first. My pulse quickened as I stepped closer, my curiosity betraying me. The door was slightly ajar, and against every rational thought in my mind, I peeked through the gap. Damien was naked. My breath caught in my throat. Gemma was bent over his desk, her hands gripping the wood for support as he thrust into her. The slow, controlled movement of his hips, the way his fingers dug into her waist—everything about the scene in front of me should have made me turn away. But I didn’t. Instead, heat coiled low in my stomach, and an unwelcome pulse of arousal ran through me. I was getting wet. ‘What the hell is wr

Alison Damien had told me the mission will be simple. Very simple. I should have known better than to believe him. Because here I was, back at the Perez mansion, my pulse hammering in my ears as I stared at the all-too-familiar estate that had nearly cost me my life the last time I was here. “What are we doing here, Damien?” I hissed, gripping the edge of my seat. “You said it was—” He cut me off before I could finish. “No more questions, get out of the car.” I blinked at him, mouth slightly parted in shock. “But I—“ “Don’t make me repeat myself, Ally.” His tone was sharp, and I knew there was no point in arguing. I exhaled through my nose, frustration growing inside me, but I did as he said. The cool night air hit my skin, and I crossed my arms over my chest, glaring at him. ‘I wouldn’t be silenced.’ I thought as I positioned myself in front of him. I needed answers. “Have you forgotten how things turned out the last time we were here?” I reminded him. “Because I sur

Alison Later the next day, Hugh brought out a bottle of whiskey and poured drinks for all of us. He lifted his glass with a smirk. “To us,” he said. Damien raised an eyebrow but didn’t pick up his glass. “Let’s not celebrate too soon.” Hugh rolled his eyes. “Come on, Damien. Have a little faith. Things are going to turn out just fine.” Damien scoffed, taking a slow sip from his glass. “That’s what you said last time we went up against Aiden. It didn’t exactly end well.” Hugh chuckled. “Touché.” He leaned back against the couch, stretching his legs out as he swirled the amber liquid in his glass. “You know, Alison, Damien wasn’t always the brooding, overprotective type. Back in the day, he was the one causing all the trouble.” I raised an eyebrow. “Oh really?” Damien let out a groan. “Hugh, don’t.” Hugh grinned, clearly enjoying himself. “Oh, I absolutely will.” He turned to me, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “There was this one time when we were kids—maybe fifteen

The faint scent of smoke curled around him as he flicked the ash onto the floor. Damien leaned back, eyeing the board. “I really want to know how you got that board.” Hugh exhaled a cloud of smoke. “Can we just focus on the plan?” Damien shrugged. “I’m just saying, it’s a little much.” Hugh rolled his eyes. “Noted but I’m not going to do anything about it.” Damien furrowed his eyebrows but Hugh seemed not to notice. He tapped the cigarette against a nearby ashtray. “Now, let’s get started. First off, thank you for joining in, Alison.” His eyes locked on mine. “I know you’ve been through hell because of Aiden, and I don’t expect you to join but I’m glad you did.” I swallowed hard, my nails digging into my palm. “You don’t need to thank me I’m just doing what’s right.” Hugh nodded. “Good. Alison The moment I rolled to the other side of the bed and found out it was empty. I sat up, quickly.“Damien!” I said, after realizing he wasn’t by my side.‘Where did he go?’ I asked myself. He couldn’t be in the shower because I couldn’t hear the water running.I didn’t want to stay alone, so I threw the covers off my body and went to look for him as I made my way toward the door the voices I heard on the other side of the door stopped me in my tracks. It was Damien and Hugh. They happened to be arguing. I pressed my ear against the door, listening, and the more I listened the more I realized they weren’t arguing they were just talking with loud voices. “You have to choose Damien it’s either her or your grandfather’s contact. To me, both are necessary.” I heard Hugh say. “This isn’t the time to focus on emotions Damien. We need her!”There was a beat of silence before Damien spoke, in a tone that was lower and more controlled. “I’m trying to be considerate.” Hugh let ou

I was exhausted. When we finally pulled up to the house, I glanced at Alison. Her head was leaning against the window, her breathing soft and steady. She was barely keeping her eyes open. I reached over, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Come on,” I murmured. “Let’s get you inside.”She stirred slightly but didn’t argue when I helped her out of the car. Her body clung to me like a second skin as I guided her up the stairs. The moment we stepped into the house, she mumbled something incoherent, already half-asleep. I smiled. “Alright, let’s get you to bed.”I led her to the bedroom, pulled back the covers, and eased her onto the mattress. She barely moved as I tucked her in. As I turned to leave, her hand shot out, gripping my wrist weakly. “Please can you stay with me?”“I’m not goin

The minute the car opened, I felt the cold air hit my face first, carrying with it the distant sound of passing vehicles. Were we on a main road? A city? Was this where I die, before I could process my thoughts, a firm hand gripped my arm. A second later, I felt the ropes around my wrists being yanked loose. Then the blindfold came off. I blinked rapidly as light flooded my vision. When I finally saw who was standing in front of me, my breath caught in my throat. “Oh my God…”I could barely get the words out. It was Damien. He had saved me.My body moved before I could think—I threw myself at him, my arms wrapping around his torso, holding onto him as if I needed proof that he was real.“Damien!” I finally woke.He let out a small chuckle, as he wrapped his arms around me. “Surprised?” he murmured

Alison I pulled my eyes open and I realized I was blindfolded. The black piece of clothing on my face made it difficult for me to see where I was and my wrists bound so tightly behind my back made it hard for me to take off the stupid blindfold. The only sounds I could make out were the low grunts of the men who were moving me around. Where were they taking me? And where was I?Suddenly I was dropped. Pain shot through my body as I hit the hard, cold floor. A groan slipped past my lips, but I barely had time to process the discomfort before the sound of heavy boots retreating filled the air. I swallowed, my throat dry. “Hello?” My voice wavered. “Who’s there?” There was no answer. The silence that followed made me realize I was all alone.I lay still, with my chest rising and falling with panicked breaths. My heart pounded so loudly that it drowned out the quiet. I had no idea where I was. And worse—I had no idea who had me. Regret churned in my stomach. I shouldn’t

Damien The moment I stepped into the mansion, I was shocked when I noticed that everywhere was quiet. I had expected to hear gunfire, shouting, and some sign of life. But instead, the only thing that greeted me was death. Bodies of my men were lined the front of the mansion. My hands tightened around my gun as I stepped past them, my pulse roaring in my ears. Where the hell was Hugh? I moved cautiously through the hallway, my gun raised, and my eyes scanning every shadow."Hugh?" I called out, my voice bouncing off the empty walls. There was no answer. I increased my pace, moving deeper into the mansion. My mind was already thinking about the worst, that something terrible might have happened to Hugh. It was during that moment I heard a sound. It was faint at first but then it became loud, it sounded almost like a groan."Hugh!" I called again, following the noise. This time, I heard him clearly. “Here…” His voice was hoarse, coming from one of the rooms upstairs. I
