We ended up being so late for dinner that we just skipped it altogether. Might have also been because once we were done I passed out out of sheer exhaustion. Luckily, Amora was there to make excuses for us. I would rather them not think that we were doing what we were actually doing. I wake up with an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Something about the witches leaving to come this way is just not settling well with me. I feel the need to get to them quickly. I let Kevin know that I want the witches to wait for my arrival before leaving but he informs me that they left over an hour ago. He assures me that he will let Julia know what about my feeling as I rush off to find Dante. It does not take long to find him using our bond. He is in the main area with half of the pack. Rand is there talking to him while Amora is still in bed and my father is in the discussion with the other two guys. Walking up to them quickly, I bid them a fast hello before getting to the point."Dante, I woke up w
"Wow, that was fast. I had not expected you to find us for at least another hour." Julia says as she rushes forward to hug me. "There are witches lining the route from here to the pack. I took out a couple of pockets of them but we have to move fast." I say looking between Julia and Hazel."I guess we will have to be swift. Any chance that you can get us all to move even faster?" Hazel says as she walks towards me."I am not sure. I would rather not risk it unless I have to. More stress on this baby cannot be a good thing. Otherwise, I would transform into something large and fly us all." I tell her.Julia gives me a small pat on the back before turning back to the others. In total there are 5 witches as well as the werewolves that are being transported. The wolves are all in the middle of the circle of witches for protection but I do not like it. For one, they look almost like prisoners once again and I never want them to feel like that again."I have another idea as well. I will ma
As we approach the area the witches are over, I sense some type of disturbance so I have everybody stop. Reaching down to the ground, I run my fingers through the dirt. It is not as packed down as it was before we got here. Either the ground composition is changing, or the witches did something to make sure that we did not try this option. Since I am not a big believer in coincidences when it suits somebody against me, I spread my awareness out further to check for any traps."What is it Laina?" Hazel asks as her and Julia walk up and join me."I am not sure. I think that the witches were being preemptive and did something to the Earth in this area. It is not the same as before." I say worriedly. They both reach out and touch opposite walls of the tunnel that I have been digging. Slowly, we join our awarenesses together as we look into the mystery of what exactly is going on here. We dive down farther but there is nothing that we should have to worry about for hundreds more feet. Mov
At the last moment, I slow down to a stop. I do not want to worry the werewolves with the fact that we are close to being surrounded but there is no way through without facing the witches that are waiting for us. As soon as we stop, the witches begin to close rank. They do not know that I am here as they seem to be measuring us the way that they would average witches. Even Aurora is there with them. This could get entertaining."Alright, everybody stay in formation. We are going to make it to the pack shortly. I just have to take care of these witches here really fast." I tell them all.I have to hand it to our former captive werewolves, they do not so much as show any nerves as they hold their places on the outside of our formation. Hazel and Jade stay in the center pretending to look scared as four of the witches walk out of the trees surrounding the path that we are on. "Well, well, what do we have here? These do not look like the werewolves that I am looking for. Maybe you could
"Do you really think that you are going to be able to intimidate me into just letting you pass?" Aurora snears."No, I just wanted you to know that you do have the option. You are not a robot. You have a voice. If you want it heard then you have to make sure that you are heard. Nobody is going to do it for you." I tell her.The witches in my Coven were all turned into machines by Morden. They did not know how to become their own people. They did not even get to learn every aspect of magic that they wanted to. Instead, they only learned what she allowed them to and had to deal with not knowing any more about their powers. It took quite a few trust exercises, competitions and extra training sessions for them to begin opening up more. Now, it is almost laughable to think that any of them were willilng to go along with everything that Morden had made them do. If I were to ask them to do some of the stuff that she had told them to do then they would openly revolt. "You do not know what yo
"What are you doing here Laina? Don't you have a Coven and a pack to run?" Simonetta asks with a syrupy sweet voice as she walks forward. "And you have a Witch Council to bully into doing as you say. If you can be here then so can I." I point out helpfully. She scoffs as she runs an eye over me. I did not think to hide the small bulge in my stomach and her eyes light up greedily with knowledge as she runs her eyes down my stomach. "Well, well. It sure looks like you have been busy ever since we left you to run your Coven. How far along are you now? I doubt that you tried to conceive before we left you alone." She asks. "That is none of your business. My body and my family is of no concern to you." I tell her. "I thought that you were going to let the girls go. You left them in my care." "I did. Not to go back to their families though. That was not a part of the plan." She tells me. "Oh, and why not? They have done nothing to deserve this treatment from you. If they need to make
Simonetta stares at me in anger as she processes what I said. She still does not see werewolves as equals. I can see the gears turning in her eyes as she thinks over what I said to her. There is no way that she agrees with me about being a bully but I want to see how she justifies what I said to her."I am no bully. I am just top of the food chain. There is nobody that has ever been able to challenge me. You might be stronger than me but I have the experience that you are missing. You have been learning to use your magic for only a few months. How do you think that you would be able to beat me?" She asks with venom. "I have already beat you. Multiple times. Why do you think that now would be any different? I just took your Coven out by myself, without blinking. I do not think that you are going to be much of an issue." I tell her."Ha, my Coven is nothing compared to me. I am worth more than everyone of them. WIthout even trying." She spits.Behind her, the allegiance in some of her
Simonetta thankfully does not try to follow us. I did happen to release the Coven just as we were passing so there is a chance that she was held up by those that used to follow her. They definitely did not seem too pleased with her when we were walking past. "Did you see their faces?" Hazel says as she rushes up to walk next to me. I am unable to stop the giggle that escapes as I glance over at her. This was by far one of the most rewarding punishment that has been handed out by the Goddess. Her showing the Coven her true colors really did do a number to her followers."I sure did. I highly doubt that she is easily going to be able to find anybody to listen to her after that. She did it to herself." I say."I know that there is no way that I would follow somebody like her. I really did get lucky with having you take over the Coven. It seems almost as if that is where our Coven was headed with Morden in charge. You definitely made it possible for all of us to be able to move on. Than
