Simonetta thankfully does not try to follow us. I did happen to release the Coven just as we were passing so there is a chance that she was held up by those that used to follow her. They definitely did not seem too pleased with her when we were walking past. "Did you see their faces?" Hazel says as she rushes up to walk next to me. I am unable to stop the giggle that escapes as I glance over at her. This was by far one of the most rewarding punishment that has been handed out by the Goddess. Her showing the Coven her true colors really did do a number to her followers."I sure did. I highly doubt that she is easily going to be able to find anybody to listen to her after that. She did it to herself." I say."I know that there is no way that I would follow somebody like her. I really did get lucky with having you take over the Coven. It seems almost as if that is where our Coven was headed with Morden in charge. You definitely made it possible for all of us to be able to move on. Than
The walk to the pack territory goes rather smootly after all. We do not encounter any more witches as the next few hours pass. The walk itself goes quickly without being stopped by any others. When we get within a mile of the territory, I feel the Earth responding to a group walking towards us.As they get closer, I prepare myself for who all it could be. It is most likely witches coming to stop us before we get too close to the pack's territory. There is a chance that they were just luring us into a false sense of security so that we would let our guard down before we finally made it to safety.Hurriedly, I cast the illusions back on all of the rescuees so that they are once again hidden in plain sight. If it is the witches I do not want them to be able to see who they are looking for right away. As soon as the illusions are in place, the rest of the group seems to realize exactly what is going on and they prepare for company. We keep walking at a measured pace. I have no way of kno
When I finally begin to wake up we are already back underground with the pack. It takes me a while to gather what is going on as there are so many voices around me. Finally, I am able to pry my eyes open just a crack. There is a hand holding onto mine and without even looking I know exactly who it is. What I did not expect, is that my father is sitting next to me on the other side as well. I seem to be in some type of hospital room underground."What is going on?" I ask groggily. It feels like there are razorblades in my throat as I try to talk. I am not quite sure that my words were easily discernable without proper lubrication but Dante seems to have no troubles figuring out what I need most. He grabs a cup that is sitting on a table close to the bed that I am laying on and moves it towards me. I want to guzzle down the ice cold water that is in the cup but as soon as I swallow the first sip I realize that that is not really an option. The cold water might feel good but it is also
That night, I can hear the party going from my bedroom but so far I have managed to keep myself away from everyone. Not necessarily because I do not want to see them all but because I can still feel the exhaustion coursing through my body. It is not for quite a few hours before I finally see somebody."Nice to see you sitting up. I take it you are starting to get hungry?" Elle asks as she carries food in.The smell of the food causes my mouth to water and my stomach to grumble loudly. Whatever it is that she is carrying in smells absolutely divine. It is definitely not the vegetable medley that she normally brings for me. There is some meat mixed in there. Hopefully of the red variety."More than hungry." I groan as I swing my legs over the bed so that I can sit at the table.Dante is laying down next to me in bed. He is just as tired as I am after watching my trip back but being unable to help. The stress of the situation was far too much for him to just sit there and be unable to do
I already know from the way that Elle looks at me that things did not go quite as smoothly with her son as she had hoped. He has so much anger from the past that it is hard for him to get to know either of us at this point. If he has problems letting me in then I can only imagine how hard it must be for him to talk to her since he has to blame her for the death of his mate."He was not exactly thrilled to see me. He did not tell me that I had to leave immediately either though." She says with a knowing smile."I take it you heard about my less than enthusiastic first meeting with him then. I really expected a little more out of him but getting to know him better has helped. He really is just worried about this pack. They have turned into his family and he has thrown himself into saving any of the orphans he can out of some sense of obligation that he has towards me. We are working on getting to know each other slowly though. He has not tried to kick me out since I first got here." I t
"What is that noise?" I ask sleepily sometime later. From outside I can hear a bunch of yelling. Earlier I would have said that it was from everybody having a party but this sounds different. It sounds rowdier and not in a good way. Voices are raised and have some anger attached to them. What could have caused all of this to happen?"I will go and check. You just stay here and continue resting." Dante says to me."Only if you agree to keep our mind link open. I do not want to sit here in suspense waiting to hear from you. If that is the case then I will just get up and go with you now." I inform him."I would not dream of keeping you out. I know better by now." Dante says leaning down to kiss my cheek.I cannot help but give him a worried smile as he gets up to check on everything. The voices have not quieted down at all since I woke back up. Are we under attack again? If so then I have to get up. It might not be something that serious either. Still, I do not like the thought of some
Elle, Julia and Hazel ended up all sleeping in the pack house with all of the rescuees to keep them from having another panic attack. They were able to keep in contact with us by having Eric stay up there to keep Rand informed of everything that is going on. From what I gather, Eric and Savannah once had a thing together. Eric only became head of security for the pack once she was taken and he proved his worth by doing everything possible to try to find her and keep the rest of the pack safe. Even though I never had a doubt, they were completely safe above ground for the night. During the day, my witches are going to all be switching duty so that they can all get some sleep while we determine the best way to get the pack moved. It will have to be done quickly and without much fuss so that we can make sure that we get them there before the Coven decides that they might want to change their minds once again. It most likely will not happen after how Simonetta treated them but it is stil
It took hours for anybody to come to a concrete decision on location for the pack. Eventually, the decision was made for them to move to where they thought that the pack would feel safest at. It is the same area that I had proposed as being the easiest to protect them from. Figuring out how long to wait to move there, that was yet another issue. Turns out, even though the pack has been living underground for the past few years, Rand still has a rather large sum of money set aside for further emergencies. He does not however, have enough for both the land and rebuilding. That is what we are currently trying to figure out."We have plenty of money to loan you until you are able to pay us back if you need us to. It will not bother us in any way. Besides, it is like helping family." Dante tells Rand with a pointed look in my father's direction.Frank does not seem too impressed with taking that sum of money from his daughter's mate though. Instead, it almost seems to spur him on more whe
