The men looked at me with some fear.

I couldn't change, but I didn't need to. On my own, I was strong, fast, and lethal. So I raised the whip to strike Circe across the face without mercy, and the terror in them was enough.

"We killed her," one of them said without hesitation. "We took her out of here almost dead in life, so we drove away and left her dead somewhere in the forest."

"You're lying," I said in a hurry, and I swung at him. "My Omega is not dead."

"She is," said another earnestly. "I swear to the Goddess she is; she was grave; we saw the mark of rejection, and the pain of it left her dying. The girl wasn't going to take much more, so we took her out and killed her for mercy. You can say what you want, but we did what we had to do. If she had held out any longer in the dungeon, she was still going to die because the damage from the broken connection is indescribable."

"It's lies," I said immediately.

"It's not; you can consult the elders to tell you the consequences
