I had too many questions in my head.

More than I would have liked to admit, but I didn't feel like answering them right then and there. Jackson carried me and led me to the cabin. Mr. Fert wanted to approach, but my mate asked him to let me process the information so we could talk the next day.

The problem was that I didn't know how to do that because my mind was a hotbed of ideas.

Doubts about what had happened between my mother and father clouded my judgment to the point of collapse. When I awoke, Jackson kissed me on the forehead and asked how I was doing.

"I don't know," I said with some confusion. "I feel like there's part of my past that I'm never going to get back. And that feels unnatural."

Just then, someone knocked on the door in a hurry, and Jackson came out to see. Then Mr. Fert's voice was heard in the living room.

"Is he all right?" asked Jackson. "He looks pretty bad."
