Daisy's POV

The knock on the door wasn’t loud, but it sent a shiver through me.

I stood still for a moment, heart steady but alert. The kids were fast asleep in my room, unaware of who was at the door.

I walked quietly to the entrance and looked through the small side glass.

It was Dickson. He stood there with snow in his hair, hands in his jacket pockets, eyes fixed on the ground.

I opened the door slowly but didn’t move aside.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, my voice low but firm.

“I needed to see them,” he said quietly, not raising his eyes.

“They’re asleep. And you weren’t invited.”

He nodded. “I know. I just… I couldn’t sleep without knowing if they’re okay.”

“They’re fine. You can go now.”

He looked up then, and the sadness in his eyes was something I hadn’t seen in a long time.

“Daisy,” he said softly, “I don’t want to fight with you. I just want to be in their lives. I know I’ve made mistakes. Big ones. But I’m still their father.”

I crossed my arms. “You only show up when something bad happens. What kind of father is that?”

“I’ve been around,” he said quickly. “You just didn’t see me. I’ve kept my distance because I didn’t want to cause trouble for you. But during the fire… I couldn’t just stand by.”

I sighed. “You were brave that night. But that doesn’t erase everything.”

He took a step forward. “I’m not asking for much. Just a chance to help. I want to do better, Daisy.”

I shook my head. “Helping isn’t just about saving someone once. It’s about showing up every day, even when things are quiet. Are you ready for that?”

“Yes.”

I studied his face. He looked tired. Honest. But I wasn’t sure if I could trust that yet.

“Not tonight,” I said quietly. “They finally feel safe again. I won’t ruin that. Come back tomorrow. We’ll talk.”

He nodded slowly. “Okay. Thank you… for not slamming the door.”

I almost smiled. “You’re lucky they’re asleep.”

He gave a small laugh and turned around, walking back into the snow. I closed the door and leaned against it, feeling a mix of emotions I couldn’t explain.

Back in the room, my kids were still sound asleep. I slipped under the blanket beside them, pulling them closer.

“I’ll keep you safe,” I whispered. “No matter what.”

The next morning, the kids woke up full of energy again.

“Mum, what’s for breakfast?” one of them asked, stretching like a cat.

“I’m making pancakes today,” I said. “With honey and berries.”

“Yes!” they shouted and ran to the kitchen table.

As I mixed the batter, I heard one of them whisper, “Do you think we’ll see that man again? The one from the fire?”

I pretended not to hear.

After breakfast, we cleaned up together, just like the day before.

The doorbell rang again. This time, I didn’t have to look. I knew it was Dickson.

“Kids,” I said softly, “go to your room for a bit. Mum needs to talk to someone.”

They nodded and left.

I opened the door. He stood there again, the same look in his eyes.

“You came,” I said, stepping aside.

“You said I could,” he replied.

We sat in the living room, the silence between us thick.

“So,” I said, folding my hands. “What do you want exactly?”

“I want to be there for them,” he said. “I don’t want to mess things up. I just want to be part of their lives.”

I sighed. “They’ve started asking about you. I told them nothing.”

He looked down. “That hurts, but I get it.”

“I didn’t know what to say, Dickson. How do you explain everything without breaking their hearts?”

“Let me tell them,” he said. “They deserve to know.”

I looked at him for a long time. Then nodded. “Okay. But I’ll be right there when you do.”

Later that evening, we called the kids to the living room.

“Kids,” I began gently, “there’s something you need to hear. And someone here who wants to speak with you.”

They looked at Dickson and sat down quietly.

He knelt down in front of them.

“I know you’ve seen me before. I was there during the fire. I helped bring your mum home. But I wasn’t just helping her… I was helping you too. Because… I’m your mum's friend.”

Silence.

One of the girls tilted her head. “You’re our mummy's friend?”

“Yes,” he said, his voice shaking a little. “I haven’t been around like I should’ve been. But I came to check up on you guys.”

They looked at me.

“It’s true,” I said. “He is.”

Another long pause. Then the oldest boy stood up and walked over to Dickson.

“Do you like pancakes?”

Dickson blinked. “Um… yes?”

“Good. Because mum makes the best ones.”

The boy hugged him tightly. Slowly, the others followed. My eyes filled with tears, but I wiped them away before anyone saw.

Dickson looked up at me. “Thank you.”

I gave a small nod. “Don’t mess it up.”

That night, I lay in bed again, the kids asleep in their own room now, and I finally felt something I hadn’t in a long time—hope.

The future wasn’t perfect. I didn’t trust everything yet. But I had my kids. I had peace for now. And that was more than enough to keep going.

Rosa's POV

I had waited a long time this evening. The moon outside was full and silver, it's very bright and warm, it glowed into the room through the large windows of the apartment. Everything inside was quiet, soft, and warm. No howls. No duties. No pack business. Just us.

Lycan had promised me this night, and he never broke promises.

I stood in front of the mirror, brushing my long black hair down my shoulders. I wasn’t wearing much—just the silk slip he had picked out for me last week, the one he said made me look like a goddess born from fire.

I heard footsteps behind me. I didn’t need to turn—I knew it was him.

“You're staring again,” I said with a soft smile.

Lycan’s arms wrapped around my waist from behind, his lips brushing the side of my neck. “Can you blame me?” he whispered.

His voice made my skin heat instantly.

“You’ve been quiet today,” I said.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment,” he murmured, turning me around to face him. “And I didn’t want anything to ruin it.”

He looked at me like I was the only thing that existed. Those grey eyes had a fire in them—one that burned only for me.

“Then let’s not waste it,” I said, leaning into him.

I know your plans towards running Daisy's and her family are still on the move, but let's just enjoy this moment together.

He lifted me into his arms without effort, his lips finding mine in a kiss that was slow but full of hunger.

I felt the strength in him controlled, respectful, but passionate.

He laid me on the bed carefully, as though I were made of glass, but his touch was anything but hesitant.

“I missed you,” he said, his voice raw. “More than I should admit.”

“You can always admit that to me,” I whispered, tracing my fingers across his jaw.

His body moved over mine with ease. He made sure I felt everything his kiss, his warm touch, and his cold breath looks so sweet between us.

We were alone in the room with his nice figure and big dick. Nothing outside mattered. Not the tension in the pack. Not the kids. Not even the guilt we sometimes shared.

Just him and me.

Lycan’s POV

Rosa had always been a storm. But tonight, she was calm and on fire. Controlled, warm, glowing.

I watched her under me, her eyes shining, her lips slightly parted as she whispered my name again and again. The way she said it made me want to burn everything else in the world just to keep her safe.

She wasn’t just my Partner in crime. She was my peace.

The scent of her skin, the softness of her touch made every nerve in my body alive. I kissed her shoulder, her neck, her lips. I took my time. I didn’t want to rush a second of this.

“Lycan…” she breathed.

“Yes, flame?”

“You feel like home,” she whispered.

I stopped for a moment, looking into her eyes. “You are my home, Rosa. Wherever you are.”

We moved together again. Her hands in my hair, my name on her lips. We didn’t speak much, but we didn’t need to. Our bodies spoke a language of their own of years of love, betrayal, pain, and still… a deep, raw connection that nothing could break.

After, we laid together, my arm around her waist, her cheek against my chest.

She was quiet.

“You okay?” I asked, stroking her hair.

“Better than okay,” she replied. “I’m just thinking… we deserve more nights like this.”

“We will,” I said. “As many as you want.”

She looked up. “Even if the pack is against us?”

I smirked. “Let the pack try.”

Rosa’s POV

Everything about Lycan felt like a drug—dangerous but addicting.

“You make me forget everything,” I said.

“Good,” he said. “Forget everything but me.”

I turned to face him, running my fingers along the scars on his chest. He had fought for so much for the pack, for respect, and now, for me.

“Do you ever regret it?” I asked.

“Regret what?”

“Hurting Daisy and other people.”

He looked stunned for a second. Then his hand came up and gently cupped my cheek.

“Never,” he said firmly. “That's not a choice, Rosa. You’re in need.”

His words made my throat tighten. No one had ever said something like that to me before, not like this. Not with such truth.

I pulled him close again, kissing him softly, slowly. The night wasn’t over. It was full of crazy passion and moments.

Lycan’s POV

We didn’t stop after the first time. Or the second. We didn’t need sleep. We only needed each other.

Rosa had always been the strong one. But tonight, I saw every layer. Her softness. Her fears. Her hopes. And I loved every part of her.

I made her promises with every kiss. Promises I intended to keep.

When she finally drifted to sleep in my arms, I just watched her for a while.

She was mine. Not in a possessive way—but in a way where I knew no one else could love her like I did. No one else could touch her soul the way I could.

And I would burn every enemy to the ground to protect that.

Rosa’s POV

It was already morning, everywhere was completely silent and dark.

I turned in bed and saw Lycan still asleep, his arm draped across me.

He looked peaceful. It was rare to see him like this. Even rarer to wake up beside him without worry waiting for us.

I traced his arm gently, not wanting to wake him just yet.

But his voice surprised me.

“You know, if you keep touching me like that, we’re never leaving this bed.”

I laughed softly. “Maybe that’s the point.”

He opened one eye, grinning. “Then I’m not complaining.”

We spent the next few minutes in lazy kisses and whispered jokes.

But eventually, reality had to come back.

“We have to go back today,” I said softly, sitting up and pulling the blanket around me.

Lycan groaned. “Don’t remind me.”

“We can’t avoid everything.”

“I know. But I wish we could.”

I turned to him. “Me too. But as long as I have you, I can destroy Daisy and anything.”

He stood, walked over, and kissed me again, this time more serious.

“You’ll always have me, Rosa. In every way.”

We packed up and left the hotel together. No words needed. The silence was comfortable.

As we got into the car, Lycan took one last look at the place where we spent the night.

“We should come back here,” he said.

“We will,” I replied. “Next time, with less worries.”

He smiled. “And more silk.”

I rolled my eyes but laughed anyway.
