“Are you alone?” Beta Richard asked Steve through the phone.“Not really, sir.”“What do you mean? The sound of clanging kitchen utensils disrupted the morning silence, waking Veronica from her sleep. She rubbed her eyes with her hands to rub off the remnant of sleep from her eyes.
