The assumption of the manager confused the two guests. They were not aware that he never linked the Head of State's broadcast to them. The derogatory remarks from the public about Kings Land and the Field Marshal were injurious to their reputation and they could not redeem it. Rather, they resigned themselves to their fate.

“Let us pray that we leave Canterbury alive,” he whispered.

“You just said my mind. They are unknown enemies and we ignorantly crawled into their den,” the minister responded and they focused on the television.

Presently, the hunger in their stomach should wait while they watch out for what will befall them.

At Laura's House

She was in that sad state until the close of business when she got home and hoped to find succor from her parents but what she met was beyond her. It could be likened to one who dined with Satan's big brother.
