“What kept you?” He asked with a broad smile that dazed him.

Before he could recollect himself, the brigadier walked up to them and stood in open-mouthed wonderment. Seeing George standing there was surprising enough but seeing him safe and sound was completely unexpected. Many questions crowded his mind but he could not ask because they were in public and must hide Tim's identity.

“Where are the rest?” Unable to contain his words any longer, he asked all the same.

“They are here.”

“Is that Brig. Dale?” Tim asked.

“Yes. It is me,” he answered and walked in.

He turned, faced his orderly, and instructed him, “Inform the brigadier that they are here.”

“I got it, Brigadier,” he answered and walked away.

George locked eyes with Brig. Dale for a few seconds before he asked him, “How are you?”

“I'm good, Brigadier,” he answered soundly.

The Brigadier shook his head and met Tim on his seat. He was unaware of the trauma that their few minutes of absence had caused them and asked, “What kept yo
