Chapter 9

George was done dealing with Annie, who was hanging on by a thread. Instead, he turned his focus to finding a way out.

He tried to take his own life several times, but his men and Annie always pulled him back from the edge. He had lost it.

He dropped to his knees in front of his men, begging, “Please, just let me die! Luna is waiting for me!”

Annie, with a blank expression, dragged him toward the treatment room while continuing to prepare his medicine for him.

Seeing George in such a pitiful state made me laugh. I remembered when I had begged George for mercy years ago, feeling utterly humiliated.

I knelt by his bed, clothes disheveled, and pleaded, “George, please, just let me go! I’ll do anything you want. Just let me go and divorce me.”

George, however, looked at me with a deep gaze, a soft smile playing on his lips.
