Chapter 7 The Past

I laughed right at his face. "Should I feel touched? I don't care. I won't come back to you." I snatched my hand back and left.

Yves shouted, "So you don't care about everything we went through?"

I looked at him. "You're going to be a father. What's the point of bringing up the past?"

Yves paled. He remained rooted to his spot even after I'd gotten into my car. We used to have a baby. Well, I was pregnant. Unfortunately, I kept to a busy schedule, meeting our clients due to our business, which translated to heavy drinking.

When I came back one day, my stomach screamed out in pain. I went to the loo, and when I was done, the lavatory looked like it came straight out of a horror movie where a body was carved up over it. I was petrified, and Yves took me to the hospital.

I had a miscarriage. If I didn't try to stay healthy, getting pregnant again would be difficult for me. The doctor scolded Yves and me for being so careless. When he found out I was drinking, he was enraged.
