"Malayo ang probinsya niyo, 'di ba?" wika ni Vernon.
Pinag-uusapan namin ngayon ang tungkol sa huling habilin ni Mommy. She wants me to go and see mg grandfather. 'Yun lamang ang huli niyang sinabi bago siya mawalan ng buhay. Hindi man lang niya ipinaliwanag kung bakit kailangan kong puntahan si Lolo o kung anong dahilan at pinapaiwi niya ko roon.
Naaalala ko kasi noong baguhan pa lang kami rito sa Peculium, ayaw na ayaw ni Mommy tuwing napag-uusapan ang Solemn na siyang probinsya namin. Alam niyang kapag 'yon ang usapan ay ipipilit kong umuwi roon at huwag nang umalis.
Hindi ko kasi alam ang dahilan kung bakit ayaw ni Mommy na umuwi roon. Ang natatadaan ko lang noon ay biglaan ang pag-alis namin sa Solemn. At simula noon ay hindi na kami umuwi roon. Kahit isang beses ay hindi ako pinagbigyan ni Mommy kaya labis nalang ang pagtataka ko noong hinabilin niya sa 'kin na umuwi ako roon at hanapin si Lolo.
