I carefully held my breath, making my movements slow and steady as I reached over to mute the machine. I managed to do the first one flawlessly. I then reached over and muted the second. Once the machines were muted, I removed the IV carefully from my arm. I used the blanket to cover the blood that came out and checked it soon after. My arm had thankfully stopped bleeding, only a small trickle had come out. I shifted my legs off the bed and tried standing up. It wasn't easy at first, but thankfully my legs began to work with me rather quickly. I looked around the room for anything that I could use. Unfortunately, the only thing I could find was a pair of scrub pants in the bathroom. They seemed to be clean and were probably there for me once I had a chance to shower. I wished there were shoes, however, I wasn't so lucky. I snuck up towards the door, and silently checked to see where all the guards were. Unfortunately, there were two guards stationed outside of my room. So escaping
...Zane POV...We had been at this for over an hour now. Jace was giving me a crash course into being a spy. He was teaching me everything I needed to know so that way I would be safe once I was out there. Right now we were going over how to use a gun. I've never so much as looked at one before. Guns were not my thing. So to be holding one was a completely different experience altogether. I couldn't explain why, but I started to feel a bit antzy. I put the gun down on the table, much to Jace's dismay."What are you doing?" He asked."I just need to check on my brother." I stated. I couldn't even explain why. Only that for some reason I felt like something was wrong.I walked out of the room, walking directly towards Damian's room. Jace was quick behind me, but remained in the hallway as I entered Damian's room. I looked into the room, expecting my brother to be sleeping. So call me surprised when I walked into his room to see it abandoned."Where did my brother go?" I ask.Jace immed
Time seemed to stop as I looked at the gun pointed at my head. Afraid of making any sudden movements that would make his trigger finger twitch, ending me here and now."Now. I think you have something I'm after." Blaze hissed."I don't. I swear. I don't have anything you'd want." I replied, feigning ignorance."I don't believe that." Blaze remarked."It's true. I have nothing you'd want.""And what is it you think I want?" Blaze asked, making me turn my head slightly as if trying to read his mind."See now... I know you have exactly what I'm looking for. If you didn't, then why would you be so adamant to come here of all places? When you should be resting in the hospital." Blaze remarked, stepping closer to me. Not once moving the gun even a fraction of a millimetre away from me."I was just getting some clothes. As you can see there's not a good selection at the hospital. I thought Haley might want some as well.""Mhmm. So that's why you evaded your guards and snuck out of the buildi
“All this time! You were the mole! You’re the one that split us apart! And for what?!” I shouted, no longer able to contain my fury.“For what?” She asked, suddenly looking straight at me.”“I did all this because I love you. And you used to love me before that b*tch got here!“ She shouted.“Have you lost your f*cking mind? I never loved you, and you never loved me. It was just sex and nothing more. You were nothing more to me than a decent lay. But after being with Haley, I realized you weren’t even that!” I shouted, pissed that she was the one behind all of this.Blaze laughed at my confession, which only seemed to annoy Sadie all the more.“You don’t mean that.” She whimpered.“Let me get this through that thick skull of yours. I have never loved you. You never wanted me, but the lifestyle being with me gives you. You want fame and power. You never loved me. And you’re kidding yourself now, believing otherwise.” I say.“Take it back!” She shouts. However, by this point I had stoppe
...Haley POV...I felt as though I was floating on a cloud. Nothing made sense. I didn't know where I was or why I was here."Hello?" I called out, hoping someone would hear me. However, the air around me remained silent.I could hear this annoying beeping in my head, but no idea where it was coming from. I looked around, only to see nothing. I focus on my other senses, hoping to be able to pick up something familiar.Tingles begin to erupt from my skin, immediately making me think of Damian. He's the only one that has ever been able to make me feel that way. I twist myself closer to the sensation, hoping to get closer to Damian. I feel the familiar warmth of his body spread into my own and find my eyes rowing tired. I relax into the comfort of his embrace. An alarm ringing wakes me from my sleep. I open my eyes trying to figure out where the sound is coming from, only to be surrounded by darkness yet again. I cover my ears wanting the alarm to stop. What's going on? Where am I? Where
When I woke up, my head had stopped pounding. I could still hear the faint beeping, but luckily it had quieted down. It was no longer so loud that I couldn't concentrate on anything else. I smile as I see Damian enter our room. Making me realize that we were back in Damian's condo. A place that felt like home to me. Damian walks over to me and places a kiss on my lips as he sits on the bed next to me."How are you feeling?" He asks.I contemplate his question as I try to think of an answer."The doctor said you may be in pain for a while. Do you remember what happened?" He asks.I tilt my head in confusion."No. What happened?" I ask."You were in an accident. You were on your way back home when you were struck by another car." Damian explains.I nod my head in understanding. "What about Colton? Is he ok?" I ask."Colton? Who's Colton?" "My driver. Remember the one you hired to be my personal driver?" I reply, not quite sure how Damian forgot him. Damian has always been nothing but
It seemed like forever before Doctor Matthews finally left her room along with the nurses. Doctor Matthews walked me into her room, closing the door before speaking."Is everything ok?" I ask."Yes. Actually, that's why I brought you in. We believe Haley responded to your proximity to her.""What? How?" I ask."We're not entirely sure, but from the time you were with her, we were able to detect brain functionality. We think your presence helped to bring her back.""Bring her back? Does that mean she's awake?" I ask."No. I'm sorry, but no, she's not awake. But we think that if you spend more time with her, we might be able to bring her back.""What do you mean? I'm feeling a bit lost here.""Studies have shown that when people are placed in a coma, their brain helps to calm the person by using memories to create a sort of reality for them. Many patients have said that they never realized they were in a coma, as it didn't feel as though time had stopped.""Is that a bad thing?" I ask.
I continue running, not caring where I go. I just need to be away from here. Wherever here is. Why was this happening? What's going on? Why do I keep waking up in places, but with no idea of what's going on? It's like I know what should be happening, but nothing is the way it should be. I'm so confused by what's going on. Part of me wishes to see Damian, while another part of me wishes to never see him again. The beeping becomes louder until I find myself surrounded by darkness once more. I cover my ears wishing for it to stop when another sound takes over. The beeping begins to subside as I find myself in my condo in New York. I hear someone knock on the door, and instantly run to go grab it. There in front of me is Jessica holding a little boy. My eyes grow wide in realization."MAVERICK!" I call out as happy tears run down my cheek.Jessica smiles as she walks into my condo, handing Maverick over to me carefully. "Somebodies happy to see you." She coos to Maverick as she places hi
