86. Stand-off

Time seemed to stop as I looked at the gun pointed at my head. Afraid of making any sudden movements that would make his trigger finger twitch, ending me here and now.

"Now. I think you have something I'm after." Blaze hissed.

"I don't. I swear. I don't have anything you'd want." I replied, feigning ignorance.

"I don't believe that." Blaze remarked.

"It's true. I have nothing you'd want."

"And what is it you think I want?" Blaze asked, making me turn my head slightly as if trying to read his mind.

"See now... I know you have exactly what I'm looking for. If you didn't, then why would you be so adamant to come here of all places? When you should be resting in the hospital." Blaze remarked, stepping closer to me. Not once moving the gun even a fraction of a millimetre away from me.

"I was just getting some clothes. As you can see there's not a good selection at the hospital. I thought Haley might want some as well."
