...Zane's POV...I was fast asleep when I heard my phone go off. Normally I have notifications silenced while I'm at home, however, one managed to get through. Jessica had fallen asleep not long after we reached our room. We had set up Maverick on the bed, and Jessica had fallen asleep nestled close to him. It was such an adorable view. I had never really thought much about having kids. But in the short time, Maverick has been with us, I was starting to wish for kids of our own. I was loving being a father, or in this case, an uncle. Jessica also seemed to be adapting to the lifestyle quite quickly as well. I knew she would be a fantastic mother. One of Jace's men had brought our things to our room. Until we could find out what had happened, Jace wanted us to stay here. The hospital became a sort of safe house. I knew whatever he was about to tell me, was not going to be good."Ms. Cunningham sustained multiple gunshot wounds. She bled out and required multiple transfusions. She was considered clinically dead on arrival, however, we managed to revive her. We managed to stabilize both her and the baby.""Wait.. what? What baby?" I asked, caught off guard. Were we talking about the same Haley Cunningham? Was there another one that had been shot? "Our tests showed that Ms. Cunningham is indeed pregnant. It is still quite early into term, so she may not be aware of it herself. However, the next few weeks will remain critical. Since she lost a lot of blood, she is at high risk of a miscarriage. ...Zane POV... Watching my brother with his son was a truly euphoric moment. I felt my heart swell seeing him and Maverick together. I was happy for my brother. I never thought I would ever have this moment. Not too long ago, I was betting my brother to stay in a relationship because he bounced from girl to girl so often that he was like a bee pollinating flowers. Hours seemed to go by before anyone came out to tell us what had happened. The doctor pulled me aside into Damian's room, as they wheeled his bed back into the room. This time Damian was completely unconscious and didn't appear to be waking up anytime soon. His skin has also lost a lot of colour."What happened?" I asked, needing answers."Your brother suffered from an Arterial bleed. It is very common amongst gunshot victims. They can prove to be fatal, as they are hard to detect. We believe the first gunshot to his abdomen managed to nick one of his larger arteries. Normally, the cut wouldn't have caused any damage, but we believe that the second shot was what caused the damage. As the bullet fractured, severing the vein. It wasn't picked up in our original scans, as the bleed itself was located in a hard-to-reach area, behind the spine. We believe that he may have been bleeding for a while now.
