109- overwhelming pain

I averted my gaze to Matteo, my man, he once promised to never die in the hands of enemies.

He sure fought hard to keep the promise.

As I stared at him, The memory of how we met surfaced. Back six years when I was an underboss.

I had just skidded my motorbike to a stop in Lazza territory when he approached me. He was clad in a dark tee and black jeans, similar to how I was clad. I examined him quietly as I took off my gloves and from the outfit, I knew he was another guard assigned to work for me.

"Can I help you?" I raised a questioning brow which he probably never saw because the little light from pathway lights was directed mostly at him. He bowed his head and then spoke.

"I'm your new bodyguard, boss." He notified. He was not even looking into my eyes. I let out a heavy sigh and then climbed off the bike.

"Who hired you?" I asked. I was not surprised anymore because he was probably the tenth person to be hired.
