Chapter 18

Nicholas' point of view

I knew my brother was going to be here today. The rogue attacks had gotten worse and we had to try our best to secure the perimeter.

I invited some Alphas to come over too for lunch. Last week, one of the rogues wounded my beta severely.

We set traps for them. They entered the traps but before my soldiers could get them, they had escaped. 

It seemed someone was here giving them information.

It seemed we had a middle man problem. I left Charlotte in the room. Today was the end of our bonding moon. 

I called it a bonding moon because I used the week to bond and have lots of sex with her.

My Alpha energy was replenishing and I felt like I was strong enough to go camping in the woods. I would go with my beta, my brother, Landon, my friend, Alpha Liam and a few other alphas that would volunteer. 

I also made sure to do right by Clara so that my unborn baby's blessings can be transferred to me. 

I moved Clara into a bigger room, paid for her to have the best interior designers so that she could furnish her room, I even gave her money to buy some baby items.

I needed all the blessings I could get. 

My wife came into the garden and hugged the guests. 

She looked very graceful. She wore a long shoulderless gown that exposed her boobs. While I was making love to her one of these days, I noticed that the mark I had given her had disappeared.

As our mate bond got stronger, I would remark on her again.

I noticed the lustful eyes of Landon staring at her.

I did not like it at all. If I had my way, I would hide my Luna inside the room till they left.

His wife too…this slut! Why was she staring at my wife's boobs like that? I could swear I saw her licking her lips.

I would make sure that Landon and his wife would take the room at the far end of the pack.

These days my Luna had been acting so strange, I did not need people tempting her and giving her mother watering offers.

“So tell me, Nicholas. What have you been giving to our Luna, she looks so shiny and plump! I like what I'm seeing,” Riley asked me. 

“Is she pregnant with a pup?” I turned to look at Charlotte, her face looked sickly, disappointed and dull.

“Congratulations Charlotte!!” Riley continued. I knew Riley was just doing this to upset me. 

Landon should better ask his Luna to watch her mouth. What a lowborn! 

She should be grateful my brother married her. Sitting among the highborn does not make you one. 

“When you give birth to a pup yourself, you can ask my Luna that question again,” I fired.

It was a shade.

I expected Landon and Riley to be annoyed but they just looked at each other and laughed.

Their laughter was loud and confusing. Charlotte looked at me. I'm sure she was confused as well.

“Awww… we're so sorry. We know nothing. We were just teasing her,” Riley dryly said.

“The moon goddess gives and takes,”Landon added. 

I mindlinked my beta to come over to the patio. I needed something to ease the tension. As I was about to leave the garden for a stroll with my beta, Alpha Liam and his luna, Chloe came in.

They were my second guests for the day. 

They were also welcomed to sit with us. Luna Chloe was another talkative and nosy person. I had my hands full today.

After everyone had greeted themselves, Clara walked in unexpectedly.

Damn Clara. Why now?! Why do you have to come here at this time? 

“Hi everyone,” Clara greeted and no one answered except Landon. She knew I was annoyed at her.

Why would you show up at an official pack meeting where my Luna is when you were not invited?  

“Hiii” Landon waved at her. Everyone was staring at her, wondering why she was here and who she was.

“Nick, the baby wants a massage!” Clara demanded and rubbed my shoulders affectionately.

Out of all times, today?!

I could feel Luna Chloe pinching her husband. Gosh. The news would spread.

“Clara, you can leave. My beta would arrange that for you.” I tried to reason with Clara but she would not listen.

“The baby wants you!!”

Charlotte stopped sipping her wine. She was now staring into nothing. 

Thankfully my beta came into the scene and took her away.  

“Now who was that?” Riley asked. 

“Mmmm…she tugged on Nicholas' shirt and called his name affectionately. Do you need a prophet to tell you who she is?” Luna Chloe replied Riley.

They had just met, they did not even know each other prior to this but gossip had already united them.

“Oooohh…” Riley howled. My brother, Landon, shook his head.

“How far along is she? Alpha?” Luna Chloe directed her gaze towards me. “Is there something you're not telling us?” Chloe continued to poke her tiny nose into my business.

“Chloe. Mind your business woman! How many times have I asked you to stop poking your nose into men's affairs?” Her husband , Alpha Liam, had to intervene.

Thank you moon goddess?!

“If you continue, I'll never take you along on official meetings. You'll stay inside the pack till you grow grey hairs. Would you be happy then?” Liam scolded his wife.

Luna Chloe lazily sipped from her glass. “All men are the same. Why won't you defend him, Charlotte is my sister and I deserve to know!!!” 

“It's alright Chloe. I'm okay.” Charlotte spoke. 

“It's alright, guys. I think we ladies need some alone time,” Riley said as she grabbed Charlotte and walked away.

She motioned for one of the servants to take her bags and show her to her room. Thank God Riley took Charlotte away.

Knowing the kind of woman Chloe was, she would not stop asking questions.

“Ahemm!” Chloe coughed. “I need to be shown to my room too. I'm uncomfortable and I need a shower.” She stood up and I called a servant to show her to her quarters.

It was now me and the boys. Good. Now we could speak about what we came here for, not some lazy chatter.

“Brother. We have something to discuss. The rogues. What's up with them?” My brother, Landon, asked.

I knew Landon would not even bother to ask me anything about my situation with Clara.

He was not in the best moral state to question me. He was married to a whore that no one was sure would ever give him kids because of the many abortions she had when she was younger.

“Brother, I think we have an insider. There's someone in this pack helping out the rogues and giving them information. I just need to find out who,” I answered my brother. Landon was scratching his beard.

He was experienced when it came to fighting rogues. His pack was very secure.

“And who do you think it may be? Have you checked and screened everyone?” Landon was asking the right questions.

“I swear, I don't know.” It could not be me, it was not my maids. There was no one new in this pack and I trusted my Beta.

Alpha Liam opened his mouth to speak. “Speaking of which, I heard there's a rogue in your pack.”
