Twenty Six

Nate turned to the fellow students lined up against the wall, silently awaiting instructions.

His lips twisted in amusement, as he observed the drowned students before him, clearly attempting not to laugh.

“Maintenance will be down soon to discover what triggered the sprinklers. In the mean time, please now return to your dorms and change. You’re all permitted to miss your final class of the day” he informed them.

Relief ran through me as I realised I had gotten away with my troublemaking. Students nodded and turned to walk down the hall, returning to their rooms.

I linked my arm through Archie’s and smiled, letting out a satisfied huff.

“Let’s go” I began to pull Archie along, following the students before us.

Archie shrugged and let me lead the way.

“Except you, Serena” a familiar voice said behind me, causing us to halt in our tracks.

Damn it, so close. So god damn close.

I heard Archie giggle at my side as I pressed my lips together and slowly turned to face Nate.
