“Come on sweetheart, let’s go” my mother shouted through the painted white door.
I let out a large sigh, realising it was now time to admit defeat. I walked across the pale grey carpet reaching the other side of my room and sat before my lit up vanity mirror. My hands reached for the pink tangle teaser resting on my white IKEA desk and brushed it through the ends of my long, creamy blonde locks. I looked up at myself in the mirror and noticed my usual olive skin had paled. I frowned upon witnessing my appearance, realising my ocean blue eyes had started to cloud. I could not believe I was really leaving, half of me genuinely believed my parents were bluffing the whole time. However, seeing most of my belongings boxed up and placed in the boot of my fathers car proved otherwise. With one final look in the mirror, I put some clear gloss on my natural plump lips and cast a final look of approval over my outfit. We were travelling for 2 hours to reach the academy so I needed to be comfy, deciding on wearing light grey joggers which singed in at the waist and my ankles with a white square neck ribbed crop top. I pulled my joggers up slightly as I liked my ankles to be showing and slid on my grey yeezy’s. I stood up and turned to the door. “Goodbye room, I’ll miss you. Wish me luck in hell”. I huffed and walked out my now old bedroom to my parents in the car. Within moments, we were on our way. It has been an hour and 40 minutes since we set off to the academy, with only a few miles left until we were there. “I can’t believe you are doing this to me. Do you not love me?” I huffed in the backseat. “Of course we love you, that’s why we are doing this. It’s time to grow up Serena, you are 19 in a month and yet to outgrow your rebellious ways or even access your wolf”. My mother exclaimed from the front seat, whilst looking over her shoulder at me. I rolled my eyes, I never understood why she was so frustrated that I hadn’t shifted yet. She was human so it’s not like it effected her. “We’ll be back to see you before you know it” my father promised. “We will be here for your birthday and the time will fly by”. “Do you both not realise the irony of sending me to the King’s academy to train me to be a warrior, when we don’t even know if I have a wolf” I laughed at the disbelief. “You do!” My fathers smile dropped off his face in irritation. “Ah yes, I forgot you could predict the future Dad” I rolled eyes. I looked out the window, seeing nothing but enormous trees that blocked the view which was beyond them. The road was narrow and quiet. It seemed as though there was nothing else around other than the trees. “I love you both but I hate you both”. My mother laughed, “you’ll be fine Serena, just don’t do anything stupid whilst you are here please. I don’t want you getting in trouble with the King”. As my mother mentioned the King, my stomach flipped and an aspect of excitement jolted in me. How bizarre. Moments later, we arrived at an estate. We were greeted with large black metal gates which were adjoined to 10 ft red brick walls established around the land, ensuring no one passing by would be able to peek onto the grounds. Overprotective much? Standing by the gate were 3 young males, all who looked to be in their early twenties however with the way werewolves aged, I couldn’t be certain. One of the men stepped forward to the drivers side of the car. His slicked back, shoulder length, dark blonde hair was slightly blowing in the wind. As he approached the car, his jawline relaxed and his chocolate eyes focused on my father. “Can I help you?” The unnamed male asked, with a smile on his face. “We’re dropping off our daughter. She’s a new student” my father replied whilst turning his head back to me. “Her name is Serena Blackmore”. The unnamed male looked at me and nodded his head. “Welcome Serena” he smiled “I’m sure you’re going to love it here”. He turned around and nodded to the other males guarding the gate. I heard a loud buzz and before us, the tall gates begun to open. Ahead was a long narrow drive, covered in sandy gravel, in between acres and acres of greenery. To my left were around 30 students practicing combat training. The students looked to be in their late teens. They were being led by a woman who didn’t seem much older. Her brown hair was tied in a low ponytail, whilst she demonstrated the correct stance for the move the students were learning. To my right, students were running laps round the field. They all seemed to be taking the running seriously, with determination in all of their faces, whilst a man with jet black hair supervised in the middle of the field. He held a whistle in his mouth and appeared to be giving the students instructions on the pace they should be running at. Oh god help me, I am many things but a runner isn’t one of them. “Mother, you know I can’t run. Do you see the torture you are leading me too?” I asked, in my usual dramatic tone. My mother laughed and shook her head, choosing to ignore my ridiculous whims. In front of me stood a beige building which reached 4 stories. The central entrance was complimented with a tall archway and a double black steel door. The building expanded around 100 metres on both sides of the door, with the ends of both wings extending forward. What the fuck is this place? As we reached the end of the drive, I took in a deep breath. I didn’t know whether to be amazed at the size of the school or irritated at the thought of running laps. My father opened my door and began to remove my belongings from the boot of the car. Shortly, a woman who appeared to be in her late 20’s approached us with a welcoming smile. Her auburn locks were neatly brushed into a low ponytail and her black suit dress hugged all of her curves. She was holding several leaflets and a key, which I presumed was going to be the key to my room. “Hi, I’m Miss White. I’m the King’s personal assistant and I’ve come to help you get settled in. You must be Serena?” She smiled. “That’s me”. I pouted, looking at my parents with one final slither of hope. They shook their heads and my mother stepped forward to the redhead. “I’m Claire, Serena’s mother and this is my husband, Tom”. “Lovely to meet you all. Serena, I get the sense that you aren’t pleased to be here but I promise that will soon change. Let’s get you settled in and take your things to your room. You’ll be dorming with Maddie and she will be your mentor whilst you find your footing. I know you haven’t accessed your wolf yet and that’s no problem, each student has their own timetable which accurately suits their needs” the redhead paused from her speech to pass me my timetable and the academy grounds map. “You’ll be taking combat training for now so you can learn to fight in human form. Once you have accessed your wolf and we learn your abilities, we can then place you in the appropriate class to continue your development. Your mother also informed me you love boxing, so we placed you there too”. I let out a huge sigh, realising this really is my life now. “I know it can be overwhelming, but I promise you will fit right in and the King will meet with you this afternoon to give you a proper welcome.” Miss Wise or whatever her name is said. I don’t want to meet the King, I don’t want to be here and I want to go home. “Please follow me and we will get you set up in your room”. Miss White turned on her heels and began to lead us into the academy. My father grabbed my suitcase and my mother was holding a box of my accessories. I followed the redhead and entered the academy. In front of me was a grand staircase, with marble flooring which had continued from the ground floor. The stairs had white wooden bannisters, which students were using to assist them up and down the stairs. However, on the right hand side of the staircase was a glass lift. We waited patiently for the lift to arrive, before the woman pressed the number 4 on the silver display. We were only in the lift for 30 seconds, but it felt like minutes as I continued to sulk about my life. Miss White turned right upon entering the hall way and took us down a ridiculously long corridor or at least, it felt ridiculously long. On the walls hung certificates and photos of alumni, some of who I recognised and others not so much. Miss White halted outside a grey door and passed me a golden key. “Why don’t you open it?” She smiled at me. I sighed and took the key. Upon unlocking the door, I walked into possibly the largest room I have ever seen.On the left was a floor to ceiling window, which provided an incredible view of the greenery. Against the wall, still on the left, was a double bed with a tall grey wooden headboard. They really like their grey and whites round here, don’t they? Next to the bed stood a white IKEA desk just like the one I had at home, with a vanity mirror on top and across from the bed was a sliding double-door white wardrobe. One of the doors was white, whilst the other had a full length mirror. The right side of the room was almost replicated, however rather than a window there was a glass door leading onto a balcony. Without exiting the door, I couldn’t be sure how large the balcony was however I can assure you that it could easily fit an 8 seater dinning table on it. “Which side is mine?” I asked, already knowing the answer considering the bed on the left failed to have any bedding covers. “This side is yours Serena, please feel free to make it your own and Maddie will be he
As Maddie hurried out the room, I found myself sat before most handsome man I had ever seen. I could feel my tummy turning, as excitement rushed through me. What was that? All I could think about was running and jumping onto this stranger before me. It felt as though the whole world stopped and we were the only two people left. His smirk turned into a devious smile, as he stepped towards me. My heart was pounding through my chest, I’m certain even he could hear it regardless of the distance between us. “Welcome to Amaris, Serena”. His voice was calm and soothing, still walking towards me. “I’m Nate, it’s a pleasure to meet you”. His voice was creating a fire between my legs. His voice, alone. Heaven forbid I saw what rested beneath those clothes, I think I’d suffer a heart attack. I tried to respond but I seemed unable to make a sound, feeling almost starstruck. Instead, I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding and watched him c
Over 2 weeks had passed since my run in with the King and I was still completely unable to get him out of my mind. Every night I was having the same dream, over and over again. I found myself in a green field, surrounded with towering trees along the outskirts. There was a white path below my bare feet, which I had followed into the centre of the field. Amongst me, there were hundreds of flower beds consuming the field. The sun shon down on the beautiful lilies and dandelions, making their colours shine brighter. Before me stood a lone blossom tree, in the middle of the field. The branches hung as the blossom had bloomed. It was shaped almost like an umbrella. Under the tree stood a man on his own, but I was too far to see his face. Instead, the sweet scent of vanilla cookies consumed me and I was desperate to reach the source. The scent took me closer and closer to the man and the tree. As I got closer, I recognised the man
Nate’s eyes scanned my body, reviewing my outfit, unsure whether to be turned on or pissed off. I laughed and rolled my eyes before turning around and sitting in one of the guest chairs before his desk. Suddenly my chair was being lifted off the ground. Nate had picked it up and turned it to face him, so I couldn’t have my back to him. He lent down and placed his hands either side of me on the arm rests. His emerald eyes turned black from anger and I rolled my eyes again. “You think this is funny, Serena?” He taunted. “Yes actually, I do. I don’t see the problem” I looked away, avoiding any eye contact in fear of him burning me to the ground with his gaze. He grabbed my jaw and spun my head back to face him. I sighed, “what’s your issue?” “What did I tell you when we last spoke?” “Nothing important.” I got up to walk off, knowing I shouldn’t be speaking to the King like this. He brought up his hand and pushed me
I had stormed out of Nate’s office, livid with his stupid Royal ass. Who did he think he was? He has my god damn birthday tattooed to his wrist and he won’t even tell me why. I swear the man has lost his mind. There is just no arguing with him, regardless of what you say he just doesn’t see reason. Don’t even get me started on the fact that he kept calling me his! I belong to no one but myself. Part of me wondered if he meant I was his mate but again, I thought if that was the case he would just tell me. He probably just wants to claim me as another one of his sexual conquests and nothing more. Well it’s my birthday tomorrow and we’ll soon see what the deal is. If I had a wolf, which my father insisted I did, then tomorrow would tell me who Nate was to me. My King or my mate. “Ugh!” I aggressively pushed open the front door to the academy. Stupid men and their stupid ways. I refused to let him make me a sexual pet. Yes he was gorgeous and yes my heart felt pain
I woke up to bright dazzlingly lights which caused my eyes to squeeze back shut, convinced I would go blind if I left them open. “She’s just opened her eyes!” My mothers voice shouted. Wait.. my mother? Where am I? “Serena, kiddo, can you hear me?” My father’s voice was much gentler than my mothers, thank god. “Yes, I think everyone heard mum” I groaned, attempting to open my eyes once more. Being successful, I looked around to see I was laying in a hospital bed in one of them god awful gowns that showed your whole ass. Speaking of asses, I felt a breeze on mine.. that’s weird. Oh shit, I shot round to see my naked bum had been mooning on who I presumed to be a doctor. “Don’t worry, I’ve seen many over the years and I’m certain I’ll see a fair few more” the woman laughed. “I presume you are my doctor?” I asked. “Yes Serena, I’ve been looking after you since you came in. I am Dr Blake” the woman smiled at me, she looked aw
“Your-your what?” Maddie jumped up, confused on whether to focus on me or Nate. I stared at the man who had driven me insane over the last 3 weeks, but the man who had also risked his life to come and save me. Am I glowing? I felt like I was glowing. I felt like my heart was letting out a bright white light. Emotions spiralled round my body, as the man I was furious at just 1 hour ago was suddenly the only thing I ever wanted. My heart felt like it would was going to burst with joy and my tummy was doing a million somersaults. My eyes started to fill up with tears as I became overwhelmed with emotion. “I’m going to give you two some privacy” Maddie whispered to me, before running past Nate. There he stood, wearing his typical day-to-day attire. His black suit trousers were once again complimented with his black loafers and his chest was partially covered in a grey suit shirt. He ran his hand through his dark brown hair as he stepped towards me. His eyes
The royal shit had actually broke down my bathroom door! I let out half a giggle, before watching him stalk towards me. Whilst waiting for him to reach me, I bit my lip and stared intensely into his eyes, still playing with myself. “Mmm” my back arched as I moaned at my own touch. Less than a second later, Nate pushed my hand away from my pussy. He then lifted me as if I weighed no more than a feather and held me against the wall, putting my legs around his shoulders. He lifted up my arms and held my wrists above my head with one hand, with his spare hand grabbing my ass. Excitement rushed through my body as it desperately ached for his touch. My body was drawn to him in ways I cannot explain, but I needed to feel him. I need him to please me. I had never wanted anything so much in my life. My core was on fire, unable to cool down until it felt his touch. I was addicted to him already… Without warning, my King buried his face between my legs
Five years later…Laughter filled the room next door, followed by a hasty “shh!” by Nate.I shook my head in dismay, chuckling as I overheard the scene. I flipped the duvet off my legs, before shuffling my feet inside the slippers resting at my bedside.I tiptoed across the floorboards, desperately trying to not make a sound, before gently twisting the door to our bed chambers.I creeped along the hallway until I reached the door of our nursery. I quietly rested my head against the wooden frame, listening in to whatever was so amusing.“Ahhh!” Nate exclaimed, before being followed by a concerning loud thud. Giggles echoed thereafter, as footsteps of tiny feet could be heard pitter-pattering along the floorboards.Choosing to go with the element of surprise, I abruptly flung open the door before me. Suddenly, three pairs of alarmed eyes cast over me as they realised they’d been caught in the act.I folded my arms across my chest, pretending to be furious at what I had found. “Well well
“You’re pregnant?” Amber squealed, as she jumped up and down in excitement. “With a baby?” Terror overlooked Archie’s face, he was never much a kid person. “This is so exciting!” Maddie exclaimed, clapping her hands together repeatedly. I laughed loudly at each other their reactions, before placing my hand on Archie’s shoulder. “Yes, Archie. With a baby.” His eyes widened. “Oh goddess.” He muttered, before his eyes darted to the floor. Anyone would think it was him who was having a pup. “Could this day get any more special?” Maddie welled up beside me, wafting her hand against her face in order to protect her makeup. I gleamed as looked at each of my best friends, each so beautiful in their own way. We’d already faced so many challenges together and this would be another to add to the list. Maddie was right, today truly couldn’t become any more special. As Maddie and Amber donned their pale blue bridesmaid dresses, the realty of my future started to set in. This is what we had
Nate had insisted I went to see the nurse this morning, after experiencing continuous dizzy spells and waves of nausea since yesterday evening. I repeatedly told him I’d more than likely eaten something funny, but he wouldn’t settle with that reason. So after a huff and a puff, I stripped off my stubborn boots and finally agreed to see the nurse. Frankly, I think he needed the distraction anyway. So as Nate paced around the nurse’s office anxiously awaiting my blood results, I laid awkwardly on the hospital bed twiddling my fingers, trying not to bring the new hit of nausea I was suffering from to his attention. As the brunette nurse, I now knew was named Mary, reentered her office Nate threw his hands in the air with an exasperated sigh. “Finally!” He muttered, as he took his place back by my side. I rolled my eyes at his dramatics, choosing to ignore his impatience, even though we’d only be waiting approximately 6 minutes. I’d learnt to pick my battles with Nate, some comments j
It had been a draining couple of days since we finally revealed the truth. Questions had been coming at me from every possible direction from those trying to understand what being a hybrid truly meant, which typically resulted in me using some form of magic to demonstrate my capabilities. But the excitement was wearing down, as a new daunting reality started to set in. One that would leave an everlasting effect on my beloved mate. William’s execution day. After going back and forth over whether Nate had made the correct decision, he ultimately decided that he had. In his eyes, he knew it wasn’t right for his brother to escape the consequences another werewolf who had committed the same crimes would receive. So today was the day. Nate would finally say goodbye to his brother once and for all. But that wasn’t the only big event happening today. This morning I would be escorting my mother back to Midsummer, where she will temporarily take control of the throne until I have settled i
Serena’s POVNate tangled the ends of my hair around the tips of his fingers, as he gazed out our chamber’s window absentmindedly. The responsibility of choosing an appropriate punishment for his own brother, well it was never something he had expected to do.This time yesterday he had been expecting a warm family reunion once he had saved William from what he believed was a threat. Who could have guessed William was the real threat. He had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Other than support him in his decision, there wasn’t much I could do. Nate had to figure this one out on his own. Whatever decision he made, I’d stand by him. With a heavy sigh, he turned his head against the pillow and met my gaze. His eyes were sunken, dulled by the burden he bared. “I know what I’m going to do.” His lips formed a tight line.I gently placed my palm on his cheek, offering physical support. “Whatever it is, I’ll be right behind you.”His pupils dilated as a warm smile spread across his lip
Third Person’s POV Serena sobbed uncontrollably as she held her mate’s lifeless body, refusing to accept the fate she’d been handed. She pulled him in closer, stroking the side of his cheek as the tears from her weeps fell onto him one by one. She locked eyes with her mates so called brother. Anger seethed through her, bubbling in her veins every millisecond longer she watched Nate’s killer. “How could you do this?” She spat, venom laced in her voice. William sighed as his eyes darted to the ceiling. “Do you have any idea what it was like? Living in his shadow? Always Nate this, Nate that. He was so bloody perfect, I couldn’t possibly compare.” He gritted through his teeth as he relived the memories. William had always been jealous of the attention Nate had received. He had tried his very best to be the perfect prince for his father, putting in extra hours of combat training and studying until early hours of the morning, learning the perfect etiquette and the responsibilities bei
Third Person’s POV One by one the warriors were discreetly taken out. However, the more that went missing, the more likely it was for the remaining warriors to notice. They were running out of time, it wouldn’t take much longer for their presence to be revealed. It wasn’t the warriors noticing that would be the issue, it was the beckoning call they were likely to make to Skylar. As the bodies piled up behind the abandoned house, Maddie watched from afar as she waited for a signal or saw some form of distress. Hidden behind a overgrown hedge, neck deep in the woods, she desperately tried to remain as quiet as she could. She reminded herself repetitively of all that not only she was capable of, but the loved ones she was watching eliminate the threat. Whilst she was a powerful witch, she’d never actually had to use her powers in a fight before. So her hesitation… well, it was a little understandable. Just as the men set out to remove the final four warriors, one of them caught a gl
“Are you ready?” Nate asked, his voice was mellifluous and calm, slowly easing away my anxieties. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him. His green emeralds bored into mine, flickering with determination.A comforting smile crept onto his lips, reminding me of his certainty. I nodded my head firmly, allowing the fire within the take the reign. “I’m ready.” I demanded. He quickly enveloped me into a tight hug, before capturing my cheeks in his palms and placing a hard, passionate kiss on my lips. This is what I was fighting for.“Go get her, baby girl. Remember, I’ll be close by the entire time. You aren’t doing this alone, we’re a team.” He promised, before softly placing his lips on my forehead one final time.“Leia, do your worst.” His voice echoed in my mind.“You don’t have to ask me twice.” She snorted, resulting in a laugh erupting from Nate.“I didn’t doubt it.” He confirmed. “Okay, update me as often as you can.”I glanced longingly at him once last time
“Alright.” Nate sighed as he released his grip around my waist. “But keep your mind link open so I can have regular updates.” He raised his brows as he narrowed his eyes at me. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at him, as I shook my head ever-so-slightly. “Like I would ever shut you out, wolfie.” I rummaged my fingers through his raven locks, before rising to my feet and offering him a final smile as I left the room and headed toward the academy dorms. “What do you think she looks like?” Leia blurted out suddenly as I dragged my feet against the gravel pathway. “Who?” I asked, knowing she couldn’t be asking about Betty. We’d unfortunately had the luxury of seeing her morbid face every day for the last few months. I couldn’t help but wonder what Nate had planned for her, she may have betrayed us but at the end of it all, she was still his family. Much to his dismay, whether he chooses to acknowledge that or not. “Who else? The wicked witch of the west.” Leia grumbled. I let out a l
