Chapter 55

Claire's POV

"How was dinner?" Jenn asked as she took a handful of popcorn and placed it in her mouth. After dinner with Gwen's parents, I told Stephen, Steven, and Gwen that I wanted to spend the rest of the night with Jenn. Jenn and I had been spending less time together than we used to. I knew that once I moved onto the twelfth floor with all of them tomorrow, we would see each other less. That is why I wanted to spend the night having a sister night. I could tell they didn't like the idea but understood and agreed without arguing.

"It was okay. Her mother barely said two words the whole night," I said

"That's strange. Were both her parents nice to you?" Jenn asked

"Yeah, Gary apologized for everything he said to me before, and Gwen's mom seems very sweet. It was just strange that she never talked. Whenever one of us talked to or asked her a question, Gary would answer for her," I said.
