Claire's POV "Claire, can we talk?" Gwen asked as she sat next to me in Calculus. Before I could respond, the bell rang, and Mr. Thompson started class. About fifteen minutes later, Stephen and Steven walked into class and took their seats across from Gwen and me. "Claire," Stephen said while Mr. Thompson was talking, but I ignored him. I didn't want to have this conversation in a class with a bunch of werewolves who could hear everything we were saying."We don't have to talk in here, but after class, we are going to talk this out," Stephen finished. My eyes stayed on Mr. Thompson as he talked. I didn't dare look at Stephen, Steven, or Gwen all through class, but I could feel their gaze on mine the entire time. I could sense through the bond Gwen and I shared that she was hurt that I wouldn't acknowledge her and also felt terrible that she made me upset. When class was finished, I grabbed my bag and started to leave the room. Stephen grabbed my hand and began walking somewhere. Gwe
Claire's POV "This is a really nice house. I can't believe you two built it," I said. After we were done with our activities, Stephen and Steven gave me a tour of the house. It had a family room, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom on the first floor. On the second floor, there was a bathroom and four bedrooms. The master had a walk-in closet. The was a backyard with a fence around it. "I am happy you like it. We can stay here sometimes if you like," Stephen said "That sounds good," I replied "Instead of going back to school, I think it would be better for all of us to sit here and talk," Stephen said. We were outside, and there was a deck with a table and chairs. We all sat at the table and waited for him to continue."I am going to get straight to the point. I don't like that you were in the car with Gary this morning," Stephen said."Not this again. What is your problem with my dad?" Gwen asked"I don't trust him," Stephen replied"And I don't trust him either," Steven said"I
Claire's POV "Where did you go today?"Jenn asked as she got into the car." We had to take care of some Pack Business," Stephen said Sure you did. Next time you decide to skip, bring me with you," Jenn said. "I don't think you would want that. You might see something," Steven started, but I cut him off "Are you excited about your shifter party?* I asked Stacy " Yeah, it's going to be fun. I'm sorry we can't throw you one. You shifted before me, so your party should be first," Stacy said "You have no reason to be sorry. I don't mind not having a party. I want you to enjoy yourself today, Okay," I said "Okay," Stacy replied. "Where is Gwen?" Jenn asked "She has something she needs to take care of," Stephen said "There you are. Claire, do you mind helping me with the food? Boys, I need you to help your father move the tables where I want them," Tanya said Sure I can help," I said "Okay, mom," Stephen and Steven said simultaneously. They both kissed me and then went to find t
Gwen's POV "Gwen, where are you going," Claire asked as I began walking toward the woods "For a run, I will see you back at the Packhouse," I replied. I needed to get away from her before I said something I would regret."Okay," I heard Claire say before I made it through the trees. I stripped out of my clothes and shifted into my black wolf. I couldn't believe Stephen and Steven. I will not lie, my dad hasn't been the best, but he was trying. Why did Stephen and Steven want to ruin that for me? They knew how terribly I wanted my dad to be there for me, just like Sean is there for them.I hated how they tried to make it seem like I couldn't protect Claire. I would die for her. What was worse was the fact that she appeared to be on their side.I ran for about an hour and ended up at my parent's house. I retrieved a shirt and pants that I had hidden in the trees close to my parent's house and put them on. "Hey, Honey. I didn't expect to see you here. Your father and I were about to h
Claire's POV"Why is Gwen sitting all the way over there? Is she mad at you or something?" Jenn asked. I couldn't believe Gwen would act like I was nothing to her and totally ignore my existence as if I weren't even here."I don't know. Maybe to spend time with her parents," I said, not wanting Jenn to get upset. I looked at Gwen, who wouldn't even spare me a glance."I can't believe Gwen is acting so childish. I am going to say something to her," Stephen growled."Shh, please don't start anything. I don't want to ruin Stacy's day," I whispered. Stephen closed his eyes and took a deep breath before looking back at me. "Fine. I won't say anything right now, but after the party, I am going to tell her about herself," Stephen saidIt had been two hours, and Gwen still hadn't come over, looked, or said anything to me. Gwen, her mom, and her dad were talking to some members that Stephen told me were from another Pack. Stephen told me they were the Beta family of the Pack called The Claw P
Jenn's POVI couldn't believe Gwen was acting as if Claire meant nothing to her. From the moment she walked into the backyard, she had been acting like my sister wasn't even there. If I didn't know either of them, I would never have thought they had never met each other before. I could tell that Claire was feeling hurt by Gwen's actions. What pissed me off the most was when Gwen began to flirt with some guy that Stephen told us was named Jeremy. I looked at Claire, and it looked like she was about to cry.Everyone was shocked when Claire pushed Jeremy down on the floor, but I wasn't. Claire has always been a badass. I can't even remember how many females and males she fought with to defend me while we were in foster care. She doesn't take shit from anyone and always had my back. My sister had to grow up early after the death of our parents and stand up for me while we were in foster care. She has always made sure that I am alright and always puts me before herself. When I found out t
Gwen's POV"I think it is time that my family and I left. I can tell we aren't welcome here," my dad said"Sonya and Gwen are welcome here anytime," Sean said. He and my father have never gotten along, but he has always been kind to my mom and me. My mom is from Crescent Pack, while my father and his parents moved here when my father was a teenager. I never asked what Sean's problem was with my father, but I was sure it was his attitude. My father always acted as if he was better than everyone else. Sean liked to treat everyone equally, no matter what their rank was."No offense to you, but if I am not welcome, then neither are they," My dad said. He held his hand out for my mom to take, and she took it without hesitation. My mom was the only one that my father treated with respect. They stood behind each other no matter what. "Gwen, let's go," My dad said, and then he and my mom began to walk away."I am sorry," I said, looking at Sean and then at Tanya. I didn't spare Stephen and S
Gary's POV"I didn't tell Gwen to ignore Claire. All I said was that Gwen needed to let her know that it wasn't okay for Claire to treat Gwen differently than the Alphas," I said. "Don't lie to me, Gary. You know you told Gwen to ignore Claire. Now, look what happened," Sonya said "I am sorry, okay, but Claire doesn't deserve our daughter," I said, causing Sonya to gasp."Don't say that, Gary. The Moon Goddess is never wrong," Sonya said, causing me to roll my eyes, not wanting to tell her that I felt the Moon Goddess was wrong mating Gwen to Claire. Not wanting to argue anymore, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her to me. "You are right. I am sorry," I said"I hope you mean that," Sonya said "I do," I lied and kissed the top of her head. "I am going to go apologies to Sean for what happened today," I said "I think that's a good idea," Sonya said. I kissed her softly and went to my car. I wasn't really going to see Sean. I had other plans that I knew Sonya would dis
