Brielle’s POV

“You ran from the Crescent pack and dared to come to Eclipse. Some nerve you have,” Zane blurted angrily.

“I didn't mean to come here, the tides brought me here,” I responded crying my eyes out because I felt like I had walked into my death, and judging by the stories, it was going to be a death far worse than Chase.

Lucien turned around to place new wood in the burning fire. That was when I confirmed that he was indeed the alpha when I saw the alpha tattoo on his back.

“You fell from the edge of the cliff at Crescent?” Lucien asked with his gaze fixated on the burning wood.

“Not fall, I jumped off it. It was either that or face torture from Chase.” I responded.

“There is no way anyone can survive that fall. It's impossible,” Zane protested

“You are lying!”He added in a loud voice, sounding furious.

“I'm not lying.” I cried out even louder as my panic level increased.

“Did you know that your Alpha Chase once had a bride? My sister Laurel was in love with Chase. She looked over the fact that he wasn't her mate and loved him with all of his heart.” Lucien explained. He walked up to me, staring into my eyes with his fierce gaze.

“And do you know what he did?” He grunted. I nodded ignorantly at the question.

“He tormented her, made her his Puppet. Forced her into depression until she took her own life falling from that very cliff you jumped.” He growled.

“Laurel was my twin, the strongest being I had ever seen. How come she died while you, a puny fragile girl, survived?” Zane said.

“I don't know, the last thing I recalled before here was jumping. I don't know how I survived.” I responded.

“I don't want another war with the Crescent pack. At dawn, I am sending you back to Chase.” Lucien decreed.

“Please don't let me go back! Please, he would kill me.” I cried out.

“We can't break the peace treaty we had brokered with the Crescent because of you. So, try to rest easy. We leave at first light.” Zane responded.

“Brielle? I hope you understand that thousands of people's lives are on the line here. I can't put my pack in jeopardy.” Lucien explained. I opened my mouth to reply but there were no words.

“I'm sorry for the trouble,” I apologized.

Lucien lay down close to where the fire was while Zain looked troubled and restless.

“You can't sleep like that,” He remarked as he came with the key to my chain to free me.

“I never knew about your sister,” I spoke out, breaking the uncomfortable silence between us.

“It wasn't public knowledge,” He replied as he tried removing the chain that was wrapped around the tree.

“Did you find your true mate or was it Chase ?” He asked while he freed me.

“No! Maybe I don't have or maybe I am just destined to be somebody's flesh bag.”I responded.

He tied the chains around my hands and legs but this was more comfortable than being strapped to a tree.

“What about you?” I asked.

“Not yet but she's out there I can feel her close by every day.” He replied as he lay facing me.

“What about your brother? I heard the great Alpha Lucien is a killer who raped and wedded all the Lunas from all alphas he had butchered.”  I started with a smile I had to put on to make the question less awkward.

I was still scared of the brothers but I couldn't die with all these blank spaces in my mind.

Lucien, who I had thought was asleep, scoffed at my statement.

“I had a mate.” He voiced.

“Had?” I asked, confused as to why he had mentioned it in past tense.

“And he doesn't go around raping or killing. It's just a lie spread by the council.” Zane stated.

“The council? I questioned, sounding very clueless like a foreigner.

“The council of alphas is made up of all the alphas in the werewolf realm. They make silly demands and kill as they deem please. it's like a cult with no leader and all leaders” Zane explained.

Then it became clear to me that they had been spreading the rumors about Lucien just because he didn't want to join their Alpha cult.

“So as you can see, I am…”

Lucien got interrupted by roars coming from the woods. It sound was coming from all around us.

“Wild beasts, I think the one we killed belonged to a pride!” Lucien panicked. They both stood up ready to fight against the pride of wild mountain lions that had surrounded us.

“Brother! There are so many of them!” Zane exclaimed loudly.

“Free me! I can help.” I voiced in a shaky tone. I was scared because the growls were getting closer.

“Can you shape-shift ?” Lucien asked.

“What?” I panicked because he had asked what I was safe about.

“It's a full moon, Brielle! Can you shapeshift?” He blurted.

“No! I can't!” I responded swiftly.

“You are a grown werewolf and you can't shape-shift? How is that even possible?” Zane lashed out angrily.

In an instant, both brothers' clothes ripped to pieces as fur came out from their flesh. Their palms turned into paws while their faces grew whiskers. They growled and roared in pain as I heard the sound of their bones breaking into pieces forming a wolf.

They turned around to look at me with their blood-red eyes. Lucien appeared to be the black wolf while Zane was the wolf with the brownish fur.

I was still admiring the amazing transformation of the alpha brothers when two mountain lions had a jump on us.

It was a battle between savage beasts as the brothers tried to overpower the wild mountain lions. I tried to break loose from my chains but it was made too tight.

I was still struggling with it when I heard a loud growl behind me. I turned to see red glowing eyes staring at me from the bushes.

“Help!” I yelled as the wild beast ran to attack. It was about to pounce on me when Zane intercepted it mid-air.

I was able to get my hands loose from the chain but my legs were still stuck. The mountain lion had overpowered Zane, biting all over him.

It turned to me with its fierce blood-red eyes. I almost blacked out as my body began trembling. I closed my eyes as soon as I saw it coming to attack.

I had accepted my fate but was shocked when I heard a loud squirm. I opened my eyes to see Lucien in front of me guarding me like an angel with the mountain lion slayed at its feet.

I looked at his black beautiful fur and I felt drawn to it. It was like a spark within me was ignited when I placed my hands on it.

My body felt electrocuted as soon as my fingers came in contact with him. His wolf form looked at me like he had felt the same shock I did.

My heart began racing as sweat covered my body. I felt an undeniable pull to him like I had been searching for him all my life.

In an instant, he transformed back into a human with his eyes widened and jaws dropped in shock.

“What was that?” I asked, looking around confused.

“How did you do that?”  Lucien asked angrily.

“I didn't do anything,” I responded, still confused by what had happened.

“What happened?”Zane, who had also shape-shifted back into a human, asked.

“Brother, what did she do?”

“We just mate bonded,” He responded with eyes wide open in disbelief.

“She can't be my mate,” Alpha Lucien doubted out loud.

Lucien's POV. The day had been long and exhausting, but it wasn't over yet. My body ached from the recent things I had going on, and with everything stressing me out, all I wanted was a moment of peace. Instead, I found myself dealing with more drama. I looked at the papers for the budget for the rest of the year and noted how many meetings I had to be present for. Things were difficult here. I paced the floor of my study, trying to calm my racing thoughts. I couldn't stop thinking about Brielle. I was angry, yes, but in a way, I could understand. I hadn’t been present enough, and it must have been sort of strange for them. That was a lie. I was too selfish to do that, to understand where she was coming from, but how could I say that? It was a cruel twist of fate for me, and I didn't know how to handle it. A leader who couldn’t lead his thoughts. Zane walked in, looking hesitant as he saw the look on my face. I must have looked irritated. “Lucien, we need to talk about someth

I could still feel the rush of wind as I fell off the cliff, the ground rushing up to meet me. It was the same feeling I had experienced when running away from Alpha Chase. The memory still haunted me, leaving me shaken. Why can’t I just have a bit of rest? Things had finally been going good for me, and now this! After that night, the nightmares didn't stop. They became more frequent and even more intense. Almost every night, I would wake up gasping for breath, my body trembling with fear. The panic attacks started soon after. I would find myself struggling to breathe, my mind racing with images of falling and dying. The fear and anxiety were overwhelming, and I didn't know how to cope. Zane noticed the change in me. That night was the first time that my nightmares had featured Zane. Zane tried his best to be there for me, although I hadn’t told him anything save for the fact that I had nightmares, but I needed something more. Someone who understood my fear. That was why in spite of our complicated relationship, I found myself running to Lucien. Somehow, I felt he might understand better. I found Lucien in his study, buried in his work as usual. His eyes met mine, and I saw that he looked concerned for a split second. “Brielle, how may I help you?” He asked, standing up. I hesitated, feeling a bit stupid. “I need your help, Lucien. I’ve been having nightmares, and they’re getting worse. I don’t know what to do.” His expression softened a bit. “Of course, I’ll help you. Tell me everything.” I told him about the nightmares, the hallucinations, an

Lucien and I drank the tea in silence and my mind was on how complicated the situation was. Lucien looked out of the window like there was something important waiting for him out there. “Alright, you may come back in now, so we can begin the ritual.” The priestess said, walking away. When we got back, the curtains had been drawn, and the room was dimly lit by candles, casting flickering shadows on the walls. The air was thick with the scent of herbs and incense, like she was burning more than what I could initially smell. I sat nervously, watching the priestess as she prepared the summoning ritual to bring forth the spirit that was making me fearful and restless. Lucien stood beside me, his expression tense. It was like neither of us knew what to expect. The priestess placed a bowl filled with strange powders and herbs in the center of the room and held a bowl wit

I know from experience that when doctors form a pack to deliver a news to someone, especially my family, it was never something pleasant.“Prince Zane, Lady Brielle…”“Let me cut you off there Doctor,” Brielle said with groans of pain as she sat up to look at them in the eyes. “I already know about your judicial crap, so deliver the bad news,”I sighed heavily and relaxed my back on the chair to listen to what he had to say.“Your scans and test result came in, and there was no forced entry in the vagina that we can use for a rape case, although

Brielle’s POV. I went to sit in my room, super annoyed. Why Rio had just tried to do that didn’t stick out to me, and I was annoyed. He had been acting so well lately, but it was when I had finally told him that he was a good person that he decided to act out? What was it with men? I shook my head, proud of myself for pushing him away, and I started putting together the money I had. I’d leave the clothes here. I came here with nothing but my clothes, and I’d leave that way. It wasn’t like anything I was being offered here, I wouldn’t be able get it by asking Zane or Lucien to do it for me. All the ease of mind that this place had offered me suddenly went up, and I was ready to burst into tears at this moment. I should have known that something was up when he was throwing this party for me. You don’t throw parties for just anybody. I wasn’t interested in him, so I would never encourage him to like me like that. There was a soft knock on my door, and I knew who it was. “Don’t com

Brielle’s POV. A little over a week had passed since I had got here, and I was starting to feel comfortable, too comfortable. Staying here no longer felt like a vacation, but I felt like I was actually at home, which wasn’t something nice if one thought about it deeply, but that’s not the point here. I came out to see pretty lights, tents and decorations going up, and I was pleasantly surprised, because who doesn’t love a nice party? Especially when you could smell nice things cooking, and you think of the enjoyment in store for you if you attended. I wasn’t informed of any parties, and since I wasn’t a native here, I was as confused as a newborn mouse. I heard Rio shouting something to someone, and waited for him to finish with what he was doing. Soon, he walked up to me. “You’re finally up. I thought we’d have to send in a doctor.” He pulled me into a one armed hug from the side. “Yeah.” I friend as we pulled away, touching my belly. “I was really tired.” “You need as mu

Or do you need something?” Before I could answer, he continued. “Maybe I’ve been a bad host, but I’d like for you to tell me whatever it is that you might need, and it will be provided.” Well, that was odd. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that he saw me as the alpha of a powerful kingdom, and was trying to suck up to me. “No! You, everything you’ve done has been wonderful, believe me. I just like to stay up late sometimes.” He nodded. “So do I. Actually I stay up most nights, because sleep doesn’t come easy to me, so…” “I think I get it.” I said, walking in front of him, and the guards followed us closely. He lingered at the door of my assigned room before I chuckled slightly. “You can come in, we were having a conversation before I started coming here anyway.” I sighed as I settled down onto the bed, looking up. After that terrifying attack, I didn’t want to be out on my own in a space I didn’t know, so I was hoping that the guard would help me. The space was big and beautiful, with tall trees swaying gently in the breeze and flowers in full bloom, and their pretty colours was a feast for the eyes. The pack members moved about with purpose, and some even waved at me, and I wondered just how nice these people could be with how good they were treating me when they didn’t even know me or anything. I wondered when I’d be cleared to go home too. What would Lucien and Zane think of my disappearance? Would they be worried? Angry? A pang of guilt hit me as I realised that I had thought about Lucien before Zane, but I quickly pushed it aside. I needed to focus on healing, both physically and emotionally and being
