Brielle’s POV

She matched my glare looking unfazed, Zane stepped in front of me quickly keeping us apart.

"You might want to watch your tobe, Angelina," Zane reacted.

"I said nothing wrong, she does look bad. " she insulted unbothered.

"You will utter your words with respect, she is my brother's mate." Zane urged, i could see his muscles tense when he uttered his words.

"That's not possible ," the woman uttered in disbelief. Her eyes widening as she took steps backwards, obviously lightheaded, "The Moon Goddess only grants one mate to a person. There's no way!"

I kept my face as calm as I could wondering what her relationship with Lucien was. She was really hurt to receive the news.

Her cheeks flushed red, and her hands clenched into fists I could tell how frustrated she was from one glance.

"So mates are replaceable now? Lost one and get yourself a new one? Is that how it is?"

"I don't care what you think," Zane replied with a cold smile. "The fact remains."

"Enough!" Lucien's voice cut through the air, harsh and exhausted. "I don't have the strength for this right now, I almost got devoured by a mountain beast. It's been a long day. I just want to rest."

"But Lucien..." she started, taking a step towards him.

"I said, enough!" Lucien snapped, his tone more desperate than angry now. "Please, just leave me alone."

The woman looked like she'd been slapped. She glared at me one last time before storming off, her heels clicking sharply on the floor. Lucien's shoulders slumped, and without another word, he followed her out of the room.

I watched them go while Zane turned to me with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about Angelina," he said softly. "She just needs time to process everything."

I nodded, though my mind was still buzzing with questions. "Okay," I said, trying to push the encounter with her out of my mind.

"Let me show you around," Zane offered. "This place can feel like a maze at first."

I followed him through the grand entrance of the estate. The house was stunning, with tall ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and walls adorned with beautiful paintings.

"Wow," I breathed, taking in the sight. "This place is amazing."

Zane chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty nice."

We walked through the spacious living room, where a large fireplace crackled warmly. The plush furniture looked inviting, and the entire room had a cozy yet luxurious feel.

"It's hard to believe this is my new home," I said, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the grandeur.

Zane smiled kindly. "You'll get used to it. Come on, I'll show you to your room."

We climbed a grand staircase, the steps covered in rich, red carpet. The walls were lined with portraits of Lucien and Zane, I couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated.

"Here we are," Zane said, stopping at a door on the second floor. He pushed it open, revealing a spacious bedroom. The room was beautifully decorated, with a large bed, a sitting area, and tall windows that let in plenty of light.

"This is for me?" I asked, unable to hide my surprise.

"Yep," Zane said with a grin. "All yours. I hope you like it."

"It's perfect," I replied, walking in and taking in every detail. The king size bed under a chandelier and the view from the window was breathtaking, overlooking the estate's lush gardens.

Zane watched me with a thoughtful expression. "I know this is a lot to take in," he said gently. "If you have any questions, just ask."

I turned to him, biting down on my lip to calm my nerves, "I do have one question. Who exactly is Angelina?"

Zane sighed and leaned against the doorframe. "Angelina is Lucien's first mate's twin sister," he responded.

"Splitting image but different at heart,"

"Oh," I said softly, feeling a pang of sadness for her despite what a bitch she was I couldn't help but feel bad. "That must be so hard for her."

"It is," Zane agreed. "Losing her sister was devastating, Lucien had been helping her get through the grief and they have been best friends ever since"

The word best friend still stood out to me because it appeared more than that from my perspective.

"It's tough. But try not to take her anger personally. She's hurting, and sometimes, people lash out when they're in pain."

"I understand," I said quietly, it would be better if I avoided her, it was a huge house and what were the odds of running into her again.

"Well I will let you settle in your room, I'll go get somethings to make you feel at home see you later Brielle " Zane said warmly I responded with a smile and with that he left.

Alone in the big room I decided to explore a bit. I noticed another door and wondered where it led. When I pushed it open, I gasped. Inside was a luxurious bathroom. Marble floors, a deep soaking tub, and elegant fixtures made it look like something out of a magazine.

"I could use a bath," I murmured to myself.

Quickly, I began to undress, eager to slip into the inviting water. I filled the tub and watched as the steam rose, filling the air with warmth. As soon as I sank into the water, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. The bath felt like heaven, easing the tension in my muscles.

Just as I was starting to relax, I heard a knock on the door. My heart skipped a beat. I sat up, water sloshing around me.

"Who is it?" I called out, trying to keep my voice steady.

"It's Zane," came the reply. "Are you alright?"

Panic shot through me. I needed to get out and cover up. Quickly, I climbed out of the tub, water dripping everywhere. I looked around frantically for a towel but couldn't see one.

In my hurry, I slipped on the wet floor, knocking over several bottles and a stack of fluffy towels. The crash echoed in the room, and I landed awkwardly, barely catching myself before hitting the ground.

"Brielle!" Zane yelled, concerned , then he opened the door.

"No, wait!" I yelped in pain, but it was too late.

Zane stepped into the bathroom, his eyes widening as he saw me. I was stark naked, crouched amidst the mess I had made. For a second, we both froze.

"Oh, God, I'm so sorry!" Zane blurted, quickly grabbing a towel and rushing over to cover me.

Before I could even wrap it around myself, the door swung open again. This time, it was Lucien. His eyes flicked from me, still half-wrapped in the towel, to Zane, who was looking just as flustered.

"What the hell is going on here?" Lucien's voice was low and dangerous, his expression darkening as he took in the scene.

"Lucien, it's not what it looks like," Zane muttered, stepping back with his hands up.

Lucien eyes had an undescribable rage that I somehow felt within myself. He stormed out of the room, furiously the door behind him.

"Why is he angry?" I inquired, lost about the reason for his tantrums.

"Isn't it obvious?" Zane replied with heavy deep breath.

"You are his mate,"

I grabbed my towel tighter as the realization set in. He was feeling the same pull of connection I was. I gasped, wondering if he was having thesame thoughts that was haunting my mind.

Brielle's POV “Walk out with me slowly,” He whispered, hoarsely. “Don't try anything smart with me girl,I'm not in the mood,” “Kidnapping? Again, really?” I voiced to myself as I walked beside him to the exit. He looked baffled, uncomfortably on edge as he stood close to me. “Yo, kitten!” Zane's voice erupted behind me. “Where do you think you are going? We need to get back inside, brainstorming and all,” “Be natural,” Romero muttered quietly. I turned to see a concerned expression on Zane's face as he held onto the wound by his side. He really looked beat and with Romero history with substances, I knew he would kill Zane out of desperation. That wasn't an outcome I can live with. “I just wanted some air, that's all,” I replied to him with a smile. Romero walked ahead a few paces, far enough to avoid suspicion but close enough to act. “The last time you needed air, you got kidnapped. That's not happening, get back in the room,” He shot back. “Please, Zane,” I said softly, l

Brielle's POV We headed out to the hospital to check on Angelina and also to do a thorough checkup on Zane. “Are we safe here?” I asked as we stepped in through the front entrance. “We are not really safe anywhere, kitten,” Zane responded instantaneously. My heart leapt when he spoke, majorly because of the word he said at the end. “Kitten?” I muttered with a soft laugh as I folded my hair behind my ear.“Sorry, old habit,” He smiled at me for the first time in a long time. “Okayy,” Lucien sputtered as he laid Zane on the ward bed. “A doctor will be here to examine you. I'm going ahead to Angelina’s. You too clear have to flames to fan,” “Flames to fan?” I reacted with a confused look. “Goodluck!” He shot back loudly as he exited the room, leaving me alone with Zane. We stared at each other for a while, quietly reading the room and anticipating who was to go first. “I …“Jus…” We both uttered at the same time. The confusion caused us to laugh lightly, reducing the tension i

Lucien’s POV. I kicked the hospital doors open with my shoulder with the detectives hurrying in behind me.. Angelina was almost weightless in my arms, and her body cold and damp with her blood, a lot of it which had drenched up my shirt. Panic shot through me as i quickly laid her on the available stretcher. “Silver blade!” I blurted as one of the nurses came running up to me. “She has a deep stab wound to the stomach. She has lost too much blood, and she’s still—” “Sir, this way!” One of them urged. “We’ve got it.” Her fingers still barely clutched my shirt. Her lips were pale, cracked, and her face had gone cold. “I’ll stay with her.” I said, moving forward with them as they took her in, writing things down. “Please sir.” A nurse said, blocking my way. “We need space to take care of her. We promise to do everything we can.” I hesitated. “If she dies—” “She won’t die, but right now she’s in a tough spot. She needs every second now. It appears that she was ass

  • The Contract Luna's Salvation    Chapter Forty

Lucien's POV.The body reeked of death and the air was chilly to the bones. From the scent and marks on the body, I could tell this one was different. His death took much time and precision, he was killed slowly. I stood beside Detective Rhea at the long table in the cold mortuary wing of the pack's police department, looking down at the newest victim. Another high-ranking wolf taken down like a prey. "This one is different from the rest of the murders." She said. I moved closer to it. The young male's body was a mess, his hands were purple, and had fingers that were crooked and swollen. "What's different about him?" I asked."Something about him must have made our killer take his time," "His fingernails were pulled out." Rhea said, voice low, almost mechanical. "One by one." I looked at the body, frowning."The killer is getting bold because this takes guts," "He was strangled after that, and there are tight ligature marks on the neck. Something strong and thin, pro

Brielle’s POV. Zane was still unconscious. He hadn’t moved, not even twitched or anything. breathing was shallow, and his skin was cold despite the thick blankets wrapped around him and the care he was receiving. I sat by his bedside, my hands trembling as I reached for his. I couldn’t bring myself to touch him at first, not because I didn’t want to, but because I was scared he’d disappear the very moment I did. “Zane.” I whispered, my voice cracking. “I’m so sorry.” Still, no response. Just the silence between us as the healers left. Lucien stood by the window, arms crossed, and he looked ready to kill. He hadn’t spoken in a while, not since they dragged Zane in and dumped the sack of heads on the floor. It was a disgusting sight. Those people had been fathers and husbands, and their lives had been ended so cruelly. “Lucien…” I finally spoke, barely able to meet his eyes. “Let me go back.” He turned slightly but said nothing. “I mean it.” I said louder this time. “Let

  • The Contract Luna's Salvation    Chapter Thirty Eight

Zane's POV. The sorching pain woke me from the drowning darkness of my unconscious. I could feel my blood fighting the silver which was burning through my veins. I opened my eyes. Darkness, and then light. I blinked again, and the light settled. I was strapped to a chair. My arms were tied behind my back and my legs to each sides of the chair. I could feel something thugging my stomach, the sharp pain was endless. I took a look to see the knife still in me. Across from me, sprawled out on a wide, gold-accented bed with satin sheets, was Chase, and he wasn't alone. Dana, the girl I was with, laid on him. The same Dana who had said she only did what she had to do to survive. She was on top of him, naked, and riding him like he was her carriage to bliss. Her back was arched, and her soft moans floated around in the room while her hands dug into his chest. His hands gripped her waist tight, moving her on him with slow, lazy confidence like he owned her. My stomach turned. I k
