Brielle’s POV

She matched my glare looking unfazed, Zane stepped in front of me quickly keeping us apart.

"You might want to watch your tongue, Angelina," Zane reacted.

"I said nothing wrong, she does look bad. " she insulted unbothered.

"You will utter your words with respect, she is my brother's mate." Zane urged, i could see his muscles tense when he uttered his words.

"That's not possible ," the woman uttered in disbelief. Her eyes widening as she took steps backwards, obviously lightheaded, "The Moon Goddess only grants one mate to a person. There's no way!"

I kept my face as calm as I could wondering what her relationship with Lucien was. She was really hurt to receive the news.

Her cheeks flushed red, and her hands clenched into fists I could tell how frustrated she was from one glance.

"So mates are replaceable now? Lost one and get yourself a new one? Is that how it is?"

"I don't care what you think," Zane replied with a cold smile. "The fact remains."

"Enough!" Lucien's voice cut through the air, harsh and exhausted. "I don't have the strength for this right now, I almost got devoured by a mountain beast. It's been a long day. I just want to rest."

"But Lucien..." she started, taking a step towards him.

"I said, enough!" Lucien snapped, his tone more desperate than angry now. "Please, just leave me alone."

The woman looked like she'd been slapped. She glared at me one last time before storming off, her heels clicking sharply on the floor. Lucien's shoulders slumped, and without another word, he followed her out of the room.

I watched them go while Zane turned to me with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about Angelina," he said softly. "She just needs time to process everything."

I nodded, though my mind was still buzzing with questions. "Okay," I said, trying to push the encounter with her out of my mind.

"Let me show you around," Zane offered. "This place can feel like a maze at first."

I followed him through the grand entrance of the estate. The house was stunning, with tall ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and walls adorned with beautiful paintings.

"Wow," I breathed, taking in the sight. "This place is amazing."

Zane chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty nice."

We walked through the spacious living room, where a large fireplace crackled warmly. The plush furniture looked inviting, and the entire room had a cozy yet luxurious feel.

"It's hard to believe this is my new home," I said, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the grandeur.

Zane smiled kindly. "You'll get used to it. Come on, I'll show you to your room."

We climbed a grand staircase, the steps covered in rich, red carpet. The walls were lined with portraits of Lucien and Zane, I couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated.

"Here we are," Zane said, stopping at a door on the second floor. He pushed it open, revealing a spacious bedroom. The room was beautifully decorated, with a large bed, a sitting area, and tall windows that let in plenty of light.

"This is for me?" I asked, unable to hide my surprise.

"Yep," Zane said with a grin. "All yours. I hope you like it."

"It's perfect," I replied, walking in and taking in every detail. The king size bed under a chandelier and the view from the window was breathtaking, overlooking the estate's lush gardens.

Zane watched me with a thoughtful expression. "I know this is a lot to take in," he said gently. "If you have any questions, just ask."

I turned to him, biting down on my lip to calm my nerves, "I do have one question. Who exactly is Angelina?"

Zane sighed and leaned against the doorframe. "Angelina is Lucien's first mate's twin sister," he responded.

"Splitting image but different at heart,"

"Oh," I said softly, feeling a pang of sadness for her despite what a bitch she was I couldn't help but feel bad. "That must be so hard for her."

"It is," Zane agreed. "Losing her sister was devastating, Lucien had been helping her get through the grief and they have been best friends ever since"

The word best friend still stood out to me because it appeared more than that from my perspective.

"It's tough. But try not to take her anger personally. She's hurting, and sometimes, people lash out when they're in pain."

"I understand," I said quietly, it would be better if I avoided her, it was a huge house and what were the odds of running into her again.

"Well I will let you settle in your room, I'll go get somethings to make you feel at home see you later Brielle " Zane said warmly I responded with a smile and with that he left.

Alone in the big room I decided to explore a bit. I noticed another door and wondered where it led. When I pushed it open, I gasped. Inside was a luxurious bathroom. Marble floors, a deep soaking tub, and elegant fixtures made it look like something out of a magazine.

"I could use a bath," I murmured to myself.

Quickly, I began to undress, eager to slip into the inviting water. I filled the tub and watched as the steam rose, filling the air with warmth. As soon as I sank into the water, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. The bath felt like heaven, easing the tension in my muscles.

Just as I was starting to relax, I heard a knock on the door. My heart skipped a beat. I sat up, water sloshing around me.

"Who is it?" I called out, trying to keep my voice steady.

"It's Zane," came the reply. "Are you alright?"

Panic shot through me. I needed to get out and cover up. Quickly, I climbed out of the tub, water dripping everywhere. I looked around frantically for a towel but couldn't see one.

In my hurry, I slipped on the wet floor, knocking over several bottles and a stack of fluffy towels. The crash echoed in the room, and I landed awkwardly, barely catching myself before hitting the ground.

"Brielle!" Zane yelled, concerned , then he opened the door.

"No, wait!" I yelped in pain, but it was too late.

Zane stepped into the bathroom, his eyes widening as he saw me. I was stark naked, crouched amidst the mess I had made. For a second, we both froze.

"Oh, God, I'm so sorry!" Zane blurted, quickly grabbing a towel and rushing over to cover me.

Before I could even wrap it around myself, the door swung open again. This time, it was Lucien. His eyes flicked from me, still half-wrapped in the towel, to Zane, who was looking just as flustered.

"What the hell is going on here?" Lucien's voice was low and dangerous, his expression darkening as he took in the scene.

"Lucien, it's not what it looks like," Zane muttered, stepping back with his hands up.

Lucien eyes had an undescribable rage that I somehow felt within myself. He stormed out of the room, furiously the door behind him.

"Why is he angry?" I inquired, lost about the reason for his tantrums.

"Isn't it obvious?" Zane replied with heavy deep breath.

"You are his mate,"

I grabbed my towel tighter as the realization set in. He was feeling the same pull of connection I was. I gasped, wondering if he was having thesame thoughts that was haunting my mind.

Epilogue Third Person's POV “How are you holding up?” Rio asked Brielle after the council of Alpha that was held in the Eclipse pack. Brielle decided not to attend the meeting because it felt like torture to be around people at the time. “Fine, everyday, a new process and new method of looking forward,” She responded with a smile. Rio's face was covered in slash scars that were still healing. “It's been weeks but I can still feel the tension,” he confessed as he laid his back against a post. “Crescent pack has begun a democratic form of leadership that will be overseen by Eclipse and the Blue Moon. As from now on, they will elect their own leaders,” “You know soon, this method will spread across other packs,” I pointed out. “Looking forward to it,” he replied with a grin. “It surely beats being born into a responsibility you didn't ask for,” “True,” Brielle reacted. “Everything is going fine, I'm free but yet I don't feel free,” He walked to her side and exhaled heavily. “

Brielle's POV“You think anger adds to strength, it doesn't,” Chase's wolf said. I was spooked when I heard it speak, it wasn't possible for a wolf to speak but I knew Chase wasn't a normal alpha like the rest. He had his paws in Lucien, crushing him to the floor. Rio and Zane were holding the rest of the alphas back and Angelina stood by the corner. She was the first one to notice me. “Why are you doing this?” I asked him. They were all shocked to see me on my feet. I held the dagger I had pulled out of my back and a sudden relief came over me. “Impossible,” Chase remarked. “You won't just die,” “No!” Angelina roared. Lucien transformed back and hurried to me. His body was scarred with claw marks and slashes. “How? Where? What's going on?” He was surprised to see me. His hands couldn't let go of mine as tears escaped his eyes. “I'm sorry, I should have protected you,” “I'm here now and we have a job to finish,” I said to him as I wiped his tears. “It's strange seeing you cry

Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I

Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo

Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D

Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever
