.Brielle’s POV

Terrified by the big reveal, I cowered on the ground like a child.

“Stand up! What sorcery did you use on me?” Alpha Lucien asked angrily.

“What? I didn't do anything.” I cried as fear began messing with my mind.

The clueless alpha looked confused as he began muttering to himself.

“Lucien! Is this real? Are you sure it's real?” Zane asked also in disbelief by what had just occurred.

“Would I lie about such a thing? I felt it, I smelled it, sensed it!”Lucien exclaimed.

“That means, she is your second mate,” Zane pointed out with his jaw dropped.

“How is that even possible?”

I looked at both brothers cluelessly as I tried to make sense of what was going on.

“We can't take her back to Chase, Lucien.” Zane voiced after being mute for a while.

“Chase would kill her and you know that for sure.” He added as he walked up to his brother who had his hands on his cheek.

“ If we don't take her back and Chase finds out, it's going to be an all-out war.” He pointed out as he looked at me with a fierce gaze.

“Besides, we don't know her. We can't sacrifice the safety of our people for her.” He added angrily as spittle flew out of his mouth like shrapnel.

“You can't abandon your mate Lucien! It's not our way!” Zane exclaimed furiously at his brother.

“She is not my mate!” Alpha Lucien yelled back.

“I had my turn and now it's over. My real mate is gone and I don't know what or who that is but she is not my mate.” He stated, pacing back and forth.

“How do you explain what you felt? The moon goddess doesn't make mistakes Lucien. Think logically,” Zane protested.

But his brother's mind was shattered by the new revelation. I stared at both of them confused by what they were going on about.

“Brielle? Did you do anything?” Zane asked me. I tried speaking up, but my body was too shaky to respond.

“Look at her! She has been through a lot already. You can vividly see the way she shakes Lucien. She is as oblivious about it as we are.” Zane pointed out.

The worst fear I had then, was being taken back to Chase. After learning his ex-wife killed herself from depression, I knew mine wouldn't be difficult to decide. Especially when I was being brought in by his worst enemy.

“Please! Don't let me go back there.” I cried out.

“We have so many unanswered questions

If you let her go, those questions would remain unanswered.” Zane voiced.

I felt a flicker of hope since the Wolf Prince was by my side.

“She comes with us but you are responsible for her. Everything she does wrong falls on you. Are we clear?”  Alpha Lucien finally responded.

“Yes, I agree to that,” Zane said to his brother. The wolf prince just threw himself in the court to save my head.

“Let's move out before sunset in case there are any more mountain beats roaming around the woods.” Alpha Lucien commanded as he walked away into the woods.

“Don't worry, he is going to clear his head. My brother is slow to anger but difficult to restrain when angry.” Zane said as he unlocked my chains.

“Why are you helping me?” I asked because I was getting confused by his actions.

“You are a mystery and I don't like leaving my mystery unsolved,” He replied with a smirk.

“I didn't know what happened. I swear to you,” I broke into tears because I was still scared of what Alpha Lucien might do to me.

“It's okay because it just isn't possible and it had never been heard of. All creatures of the moon had been blessed with one partner, the mate.” He explained.

“My brother already had a mate and they were both in love. So, you coming into the picture messes with the knowledge we had grown with.” He concluded.

“It's time to go!” Alpha Lucien exclaimed from behind a tree.

I walked behind both brothers as we headed to their packland. My legs began to tremble as the distance was becoming too much for me and I hadn't eaten in two days.

“Are you okay?” Zane, who turned around to check on me, asked.

“Yeah, it's just that my feet are getting numb,” I complained to him as I rested my back on a tree trunk.

“The snake bite plus you haven't eaten after losing a lot of blood is more than enough reason for it to.” He responded as he took a look at the leg.

Alpha Lucien stared at us angrily with his eyesight gazed at me, filled with hate.

“We need to go!” He yelled at his brother who paid no attention to him.

..

“You shouldn't put any more strain on the leg,” Zane stated after taking a look at it.

“Well she has to work, doesn't she?” Lucien asked angrily.

“Or what do you want us to do? Carry her on our backs like horses?” He scoffed.

“Yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do,” Zane answered firmly. The powerful Wolf Prince took me up from where I sat to his back without me moving an inch.

“It's not going to be comfortable but try to relax.” He whispered as I laid my head comfortably on his back. Unlike his brother, he seemed to be more interested in me.

His back wasn't as soft as a bed but it sure was comfortable because of its broad nature.

We walked for a mile before the Pack City began coming into sight.

“Welcome to Eclipse, Luna Brielle,” Lucien stated as I was already wowed by the City's beauty.

“Let's wash up first,” Zane recommended. We went to a stream nearby and I was asked to wash up all the smuck I had gathered from our journey.

I was in the opposite direction from where the brothers were for privacy. I took my time because the water felt so refreshing on my skin.

I turned around to leave when I bumped into something hard.

“Damn it!” I cussed without looking at who it was.

“And she is also strong,” I heard Lucien remarked. I raised my head to see the Alpha shirtless and wet.

“I don't know what kind of silly trick you are playing but I'm unto you.” He threatened as he drew closer to me. I could feel his breath on my face by how close he was to me.

“I mean you no harm,” I answered with head bowed because I couldn't keep up with his intimidating stares.

“Are you sure about that,” He remarked as he tilted my head upward.

I noticed how he stared at me  unmoving,  not taking his eyes off me as he asked; “Are you nervous ?” His demeanor intimidated me, but didn’t stop me from talking anyway,

“For starters, I’d like to apologize for bringing back difficult memories. It was never my intention to.” His unflinching state made me quite uncomfortable, but I continued anyway, “And I am not a magic user as you might think, in fact, I only seek to escape the man who wants me dead,” I stopped to pause to check if he was still listening, and when I saw that he was, I continued; “I would lay low and when I had gathered my st—” My sentence was cut off abruptly when his loud laugh resonated across the large expanse of his woods.

“Because you think you are my mate doesn't make you anything to me ?” He said in a voice laced with mockery.

“No.” I answered firmly, “That’s why I'm begging for your help.”

“And you think I’d waltz into some personal issues you have with someone simply because of some stupid mate bond?” He asked, staring intently at me. His childish reply made me want to scream out in frustration but I couldn’t. At least not yet.

“That’s like putting myself and the members of my clan in trouble because of you!”

“Sir that isn’t what I meant,” I stated with hot tears beginning to blur my vision. “I was only asking for help because I f—”

“I didn’t allow you to come with us just so you can bug me with your problems Brielle!” He snapped, cutting me off.

“Why don’t you just reject me?” I asked, my voice breaking in despair. “Why don’t you just reject me and send me back to Chase?” I let the tears fall freely from my eyes as I spoke. I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I was tired.

Just as I was about to turn away, I felt his hand snake around my wrist, stopping me in my tracks. I looked up at him, probably to find remorse in his fierce red eyes, but instead, I was met with an emptiness. It looked like a grey sea with nothing in it.

“I’m sorry for ever asking for your help,” I muttered ready to pull away, but stopped abruptly when his warm full lips enveloped mine. I felt a strange surge of pleasure run up my back at the feel of his lips against mine.

It felt like heaven. My own personal Heaven…

Lucien's POV. The day had been long and exhausting, but it wasn't over yet. My body ached from the recent things I had going on, and with everything stressing me out, all I wanted was a moment of peace. Instead, I found myself dealing with more drama. I looked at the papers for the budget for the rest of the year and noted how many meetings I had to be present for. Things were difficult here. I paced the floor of my study, trying to calm my racing thoughts. I couldn't stop thinking about Brielle. I was angry, yes, but in a way, I could understand. I hadn’t been present enough, and it must have been sort of strange for them. That was a lie. I was too selfish to do that, to understand where she was coming from, but how could I say that? It was a cruel twist of fate for me, and I didn't know how to handle it. A leader who couldn’t lead his thoughts. Zane walked in, looking hesitant as he saw the look on my face. I must have looked irritated. “Lucien, we need to talk about someth

Lucien's harsh words echoed in her mind, and his rejection was not something she had enjoyed. She couldn't understand how things had spiraled out of control so quickly. One moment, she was trying to find her place in the pack, and the next, she was caught between two men who meant a lot of things to her. Her feelings for Lucien were complex. As her mate, there was an undeniable bond between them, one that should have brought them closer. But Lucien's distance and cold exterior made it impossible for her to feel secure or loved. On the other hand, Zane had been a pillar of support. His kindness and understanding had created a deep friendship between them, and recently, those feelings had begun to shift into something more. She was torn between the bond she was supposed to honor and the growing affection she had for Zan

Brielle's POVI woke up in a cold sweat, my heart pounding as if I had run a few miles. The nightmare that I had was so vivid, it felt real. I could still feel the rush of wind as I fell off the cliff, the ground rushing up to meet me. It was the same feeling I had experienced when running away from Alpha Chase. The memory still haunted me, leaving me shaken. Why can’t I just have a bit of rest? Things had finally been going good for me, and now this! After that night, the nightmares didn't stop. They became more frequent and even more intense. Almost every night, I would wake up gasping for breath, my body trembling with fear. The panic attacks started soon after. I would find myself struggling to breathe, my mind racing with images of falling and dying. The fear and anxiety were overwhelming, and I didn't know how to cope. Zane noticed the change in me. He saw must have seen how anxious I looked, and the worry was always on my face. Maybe it was the way my hands shook when I th

Brielle; I couldn’t take it anymore. The nightmares were tearing me apart, and the flashbacks during the day left me constantly on edge. That night was the first time that my nightmares had featured Zane. Zane tried his best to be there for me, although I hadn’t told him anything save for the fact that I had nightmares, but I needed something more. Someone who understood my fear. That was why in spite of our complicated relationship, I found myself running to Lucien. Somehow, I felt he might understand better. I found Lucien in his study, buried in his work as usual. His eyes met mine, and I saw that he looked concerned for a split second. “Brielle, how may I help you?” He asked, standing up. I hesitated, feeling a bit stupid. “I need your help, Lucien. I’ve been having nightmares, and they’re getting worse. I don’t know what to do.” His expression softened a bit. “Of course, I’ll help you. Tell me everything.” I told him about the nightmares, the hallucinations, an

Brielle; The old woman made us to step out of the room for tea while she excused herself to go back into the room. Lucien and I drank the tea in silence and my mind was on how complicated the situation was. Lucien looked out of the window like there was something important waiting for him out there. “Alright, you may come back in now, so we can begin the ritual.” The priestess said, walking away. When we got back, the curtains had been drawn, and the room was dimly lit by candles, casting flickering shadows on the walls. The air was thick with the scent of herbs and incense, like she was burning more than what I could initially smell. I sat nervously, watching the priestess as she prepared the summoning ritual to bring forth the spirit that was making me fearful and restless. Lucien stood beside me, his expression tense. It was like neither of us knew what to expect. The priestess placed a bowl filled with strange powders and herbs in the center of the room and held a bowl wit

Brielle's POV. Lucien and I returned to our regular lives, acting as though nothing important had happened. It was easier said than done, especially with the fact that the secret mission was not something to be taken lightly, and I, for one, had decided to keep Zane in the dark about everything. "Where have you been?" Zane asked when we finally saw him later that evening. He looked worried. "Oh, just running some errands." I said, trying to sound casual. "You know how it is. I had to take a walk." Lucien was right behind me. "How are you?" Lucien asked, completely disregarding the question, just like he had the tendency to do on a normal day. Zane looked at us both with suspicion in his eyes, but he didn't press the matter further. "Alright. Just glad you're back." The thrill of our secret mission and the deception added a layer of excitement to our daily interactions, Lucien and I. Brielle’s POV. I went to sit in my room, super annoyed. Why Rio had just tried to do that didn’t stick out to me, and I was annoyed. He had been acting so well lately, but it was when I had finally told him that he was a good person that he decided to act out? What was it with men? I shook my head, proud of myself for pushing him away, and I started putting together the money I had. I’d leave the clothes here. I came here with nothing but my clothes, and I’d leave that way. It wasn’t like anything I was being offered here, I wouldn’t be able get it by asking Zane or Lucien to do it for me. All the ease of mind that this place had offered me suddenly went up, and I was ready to burst into tears at this moment. I should have known that something was up when he was throwing this party for me. You don’t throw parties for just anybody. I wasn’t interested in him, so I would never encourage him to like me like that. There was a soft knock on my door, and I knew who it was. “Don’t com

Brielle’s POV. A little over a week had passed since I had got here, and I was starting to feel comfortable, too comfortable. Staying here no longer felt like a vacation, but I felt like I was actually at home, which wasn’t something nice if one thought about it deeply, but that’s not the point here. I came out to see pretty lights, tents and decorations going up, and I was pleasantly surprised, because who doesn’t love a nice party? Especially when you could smell nice things cooking, and you think of the enjoyment in store for you if you attended. I wasn’t informed of any parties, and since I wasn’t a native here, I was as confused as a newborn mouse. I heard Rio shouting something to someone, and waited for him to finish with what he was doing. Soon, he walked up to me. “You’re finally up. I thought we’d have to send in a doctor.” He pulled me into a one armed hug from the side. “Yeah.” I friend as we pulled away, touching my belly. “I was really tired.” “You need as mu

If I didn’t know better, I’d say that he saw me as the alpha of a powerful kingdom, and was trying to suck up to me. “No! You, everything you’ve done has been wonderful, believe me. I just like to stay up late sometimes.” He nodded. “So do I. Actually I stay up most nights, because sleep doesn’t come easy to me, so…” “I think I get it.” I said, walking in front of him, and the guards followed us closely. After that terrifying attack, I didn’t want to be out on my own in a space I didn’t know, so I was hoping that the guard would help me. The space was big and beautiful, with tall trees swaying gently in the breeze and flowers in full bloom, and their pretty colours was a feast for the eyes. The pack members moved about with purpose, and some even waved at me, and I wondered just how nice these people could be with how good they were treating me when they didn’t even know me or anything. I wondered when I’d be cleared to go home too. What would Lucien and Zane think of my disappearance? Would they be worried? Angry? A pang of guilt hit me as I realised that I had thought about Lucien before Zane, but I quickly pushed it aside. I needed to focus on healing, both physically and emotionally and being
