Ciara was taken aback by the question. Aside the fact that she hadn’t expected that, she had not even remembered about her baby.

She had been so engrossed with thinking about the situation of things that issues of her pregnancy completely evaded Ciara. Usually, that would have been her utmost concern. That would have been the first question that she would have asked, but mysteriously, it had completely evaded her memory. Ciara concluded that it had something to do with the attack. Besides, she was still recovering and trying to remember all that happened vividly, and not in flashes.

Involuntarily, as soon as the question came out of Aunt Mary’s mouth, Ciara’s hand flew to her stomach, and she began to cradle it. She could not feel anything and Ciara became instantly worried. Tears welled up in her eyes.
