Chapter 19: Mother's refusal

Anita smiled and turned to face her mother after staring at the mirror one more time. She loved the brown design and color of the oversized loose gown that Temisa bought for her; it actually fit her length but was a bit loose.

"Where are you wearing this to?" Mrs. Tonia inquired, her face twisting in irritation.

"To work, Mom. Didn't you hear what my father said this morning? Anyway, the company requested that all their female workers, both old and new, wear oversized clothes, and that's exactly what I'm doing—testing the clothes," Anita smiled.

"Oversized clothes? No, I never heard that. Are you sure, or are you lying to me so no man will ask you out?" Mrs. Tonia asked, and Anita burst out laughing.

"Mom!" Anita replied, laughing uncontrollably. "Why should I dress shabbily just because I don't want a guy to ask me out? Seriously, Mom, that's the new CEO's orders, from what I heard and read on their company's page on social media."
