Chapter 16: Father's apology

Anita stretched and yawned tiredly as she sat on the sofa, feeling sleepy and unable to check the trending news again. She closed her laptop after switching it off and stood up from the sofa to sleep on the bed she shared with Glory, feeling exhausted.

Their mother sold provisions and cosmetics in her shop, Anita hardly visited there since she was usually at school or home cooking. She knew her mom's provision store wasn't big enough and wouldn't be able to cater to all their needs if her father eventually went cashless, especially since the bank her father worked for threatened to freeze his account if the fraudulent activity wasn't resolved.

Anita sighed and climbed into bed to join Glory in sleeping. She prayed silently in her heart to find a better job to be able to cater to all her siblings, her parents, and herself before she finally drifted to sleep.
