“I said I’m sorry?” I yelled.

She ignored me.

I watched her hail a cab and get in.

For fuck sake! Why did she give me a hard time? I thought.

I immediately tried to call her. It rang unanswered. My next try I found she’d blocked my number.

The hell with it!

I drove home, furious with her. She had walked out on me. Who the fuck does she think she is? But I had to admit, I really did enjoy the time I had spent with her and my family.

She was the first girl I had taken home to mom. Which wasn’t surprising. Most of the girls I had hooked up with would have given my mom a heart attack if I had brought them home.

The afternoon would have gone as planned if mom hadn’t invited so many relatives, especially her sister, Aunt Viv, who could keep a secret for less than ten seconds.

Now Janet and I were being invited to this fundraiser but from the way we’d ended things just now, I knew there was no way she would go with me.
