“You have a meeting with Mr. Benson at noon.” My secretary announced as I came in that morning.

I smiled. Dad always kept things professional at the office. Nothing but business was discussed, he always addressed Anna and I as Miss. Benson, and any messages were passed through our secretary.

At first it had made been awkward and annoying to be so formal around him, but I later agreed keeping everything strictly business was better for everyone and the company.

And he always made it up to us with extra attention at home.

“Thanks Jill.” I said.

I entered my office, wondering what dad wanted to see me about. Maybe to discuss the deal he mentioned yesterday.

My phone rang. It was Kevin.

“Hey.” He said.

“Hi. Hope you didn’t wake up with a hangover?” I joked.

“All the beer in Texas won’t give me a hangover.” He laughed.

“So what’s up? Another event I am to attend with you?” I asked.

“Not yet. I’m calling about your step mommy problem.”
