Chapter 87

"I didn't think you already had a husband. I thought you were here last night as my Chard's girlfriend.” Richard's grandmother said to me as she touched my face. "But I still want you to come back here. We always love to welcome new families.”

Her words drew a smile on my lips because of how warmly she speaks to me as if her voice goes deeply to my heart every time.

"Thank you very much, grandmother." I said softly, staring straight into her sweet and beautiful eyes. "This place made me feel genuinely happy even for a short time that I stayed here and I will be glad to come back every single time to visit you guys and get to know more of you."

All of them that are living in this house are all sweet and kind people. If I have some time left to stay here, I would definitely meet each of them and get to know more about their stories. Their voices and emotions whenever they sing are exceptionally authentic that anyone who listens will know that these people have something deep inside their hearts.

"Oh, we'll be glad to welcome you back." Richard's grandmother said again before she let me go. "You two seem so in love and happy with each other. So I can't help but wonder what happened last night that made your eyes so puffy from crying. I hope some of those strawberries and chocolates somehow helped you.”

My mouth fell open as I feigned a laugh, shifting my eyes to Richard and widening it to question his grandmother's words.

Did he happen to tell his grandmother about last night? I know it shouldn't be that embarrassing but I am.

"It was nice meeting you Mrs. Portland.” Jaxson said sparingly before pulling my arm out of the balcony.

I might be exaggerating but I will miss this place and the warmth that it gave me as I was here.

"So, are we gonna head back to your house or your company?" I asked Jaxson as I am getting in his car.

"I'm gonna drop you to the manor before I go straight to Ruegold." Jaxson said softly while not taking his eyes off the road. "This place is too far, Catt."

"I'm sorry." That was the only thing I told him. I didn't choose this place either. Richard took me here as I am unaware of what is happening because I was thinking more about the painful words I heard from Jaxson and I am busy crying the whole time.

"Well, promise one thing. Hear me out before you decide to run away from me.”

My eyes shifted towards Jaxson as a bitter smile flashed on my lips. "I will try... But it's not that easy Jax, I hope you understand."

I looked around when we got out of the executive village. It seems that there are no residences here and only trees and soil are around.

"It almost seems like we're in a different world, don't we?" I asked Jaxson without looking at him because my eyes were focused outside. I didn't appreciate it last night because it was dark and I couldn't see anything.

My attention was caught when I suddenly heard a song inside the car. I saw that Jaxson turned on the radio as he started singing.

"What are you doing?" I exclaimed in the middle of laughing.

"What? I thought you'd like it?" He uttered as his hand moved to the radio and turned it off.

"I see. The famous Jaxson Madrigal is singing in front of me! Oh my gosh, I'm freaking out!” I exaggerated as I acted hysterically. "My friends won't believe this! Aaaah!” I screeched.

Jaxson's lips pursed together before he turned to face me.
