Chapter 86

"Cattleya, can you just please hear me for a minute? This won't be solved if you keep running away from me."

I let out a deep breath as I tried to contain the emotions that is building up on my chest. I can feel my blood rising up to my head as I slowly felt the bottom of my long eyes get hot and my vision blurred. Tears are welling up in my eyes as I turned around to face Jaxson.

I was met with his tired eyes. You can see the tiredness in his eyes, maybe he didn't sleep that's why his under eye is dark again.

I didn't say a word and instead just kept my eyes fixed on him and waited for his words and hoped that whatever he had to say it would somehow ease my broken heart.

My attention was caught when I caught sight of Richard inside the chicken house and peering at me.

His mouth moved, and based on what I understand he said, 'I'm sorry'.

So, it was him who told Jaxson where I am and let him come into this place. Because he told me that no one can come on unless he has his or his grandmother's permission.

"Cattleya, I'm sorry. I know that I'm wrong. I know that what I told you is too much and I can't defend myself anymore. But I hope you understand that I was just protecting you from those people. If they know more about you, they won't stop unless they get what they want. And if they do… They will turn it into something ugly.”

I shifted my eyes to Jaxson, I felt tears streaming down my cheeks as I looked intently at his eyes.

"But isn't that my purpose to your life? Isn't my job here is for your publicity? You can just tell me the truth Jax, and stop sugarcoating your words because the more you act like that, the more you are hurting me. You are hiding me because I am not a supermodel. Because I am not someone from a family just like yours. Just say that to me!?” I couldn't stop myself from screaming my lungs out because of the pain I feel in my chest right now.

"You were right." Jaxson muttered causing my tears to flow down in big drops as I shook my head.

"I was right..."

"Yes. But that was before I fell hard... Cattleya. That was before I started caring for you and having this bizarre feeling to be protective of you. So, I'm sorry. I am sorry for hurting your feelings with my sharp words. I am sorry for making you insecure of yourself. I am just afraid to let you out there anymore because I want you to keep having the life you have.” Jaxson's eyes glinted as I noticed tears accumulating as he raised his voice to me. "You might not think that having a normal and ordinary life like what you have is a privilege, but believe me... it is. Not everyone in this world can live the same way and have the life that you do. And I want to protect that ordinary life. That ordinary life that I wish I had.”

I am lost for words for all the things he said to me.

The next thing I knew is that I felt my feet deliberately step forward and wrap my arms around Jaxson as tight as I can while I feel my tears still falling down my cheeks.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered while still not letting go of him in my arms. "I-I'm sorry for being selfish..."

Jaxson knows that he is wrong for letting those words slip away from his lips but I am also very wrong for not realizing how much he cares for me already.

"Cattleya, why are you saying sorry? I'm the one who came here to apologize. Please, you have nothing to feel sorry about. I am wrong. And I promise you that I will never ever do it again. I can't afford spending another night feeling lost on where to find you and giving up all the pride that I have just to make a call to that club owner." I felt Jaxson's hand as he caressed my hair while his lips gave a soft kiss on my head.

"I'm sorry for making you do all that... Jax..." I whispered to him again before sneaking a peek at Richard from behind but I was surprised that he wasn't where he was just now.

"So, are you forgiving me now? Are we okay?” Jaxson asked getting my attention again.

I did not loosen my arms from wrapping his body as my eyes ran up to his eyes staring deeply into him.

This man, he really cares for me. I didn't think that this is possible for me to find someone that really loves me the way I am and don't judge me because of where I came from. If only we weren't born in so much different status in life, we could've been perfect for each other.

His eyes are wide as he stares back at me. Those eyes, the eyes that captured me the second I get to stare at those. Now these eyes are staring at me, the attention is on me and it seems like it wants to tell me that all these eyes can see is me.

"So?" Jackson asked. "I at least need to get an answer. Coming here is way more expensive than you can imagine.”

I frowned because of what he said and then I withdrew from our hug.

"What do you mean expensive? This place is not free? You mean you have to actually pay them just so you can get in?”

Jaxson shrugged his shoulders as the bottom of his lips moved upward pushing his other lip. "Well, technically, no. But, I have to agree to that owner for his project offer which he didn't even tell me about and made me agree for a fifty-fifty share.”

I tilted my head, perplexed. "You agreed to Richard for a business proposal that you don't even know about?"

"Yes, I did." He uttered, making a little sound with his lips. "All because I am desperate to see my wife."

I am in awe as I puppy eyed because of how much he can go just to see me.

“— Now, you don't call him your manager anymore and just call him by his name? You guys dropped the honor a little too fast, huh?”

I chortled. "He's not my manager anymore, unless you let me continue my job as a bottle girl in his nightclub. But not until then, he said he wants me to call him by his first name, Richard." After telling him the truth, I turned away and started walking back to Richard's grandmother's house. "I have been smelling like chicken poop and crushed eggs so I better wash myself first before we leave."

I heard Jaxson break into a soft laugh.

"I have been smelling you and yet I did not get away from your hugs. That's true love." He said sarcastically that my feet suddenly pulled up for a matter of seconds and then quickly ran towards Richard's grandmother's house because I was hit with shame.
