Chapter 4: Embarrassment
Sofia’s POV
“You need to stay here until his young master arrives,” Mr. Wu said. I look around the whole place. I feel nervous and thrilled at the same time.
This place was screaming power and wealth. I can’t help but wonder what is my purpose here. “Are you listening, Miss Sanders?”
“Yes. I’m listening. But may I ask why we are here? I thought I was used as payment. You will sell me, right?” Mr. Wu’s face remained serious, but I could see a little amusement in his eyes.
“You think so?” He asked. I shook my head and laughed a little. “No. You know what? Even if you guys take me away, I don’t feel you bad at all,” I answered honestly.
They look more harmless than my aunt. “I see. What do you think why you are here then?” I don’t know, but I have an idea.
“I will work here as a maid? Or I’m right that you will sell me,” I joked the last part. I saw the edge of his lips rise, but just a second.
His face went serious again, “None of the two. You will know later. His young master will tell,” My brow furrowed. He’s been mentioning that young master since earlier. Who is that?
“Anyway, please follow me. I’ll show you your temporary room,” he said when he noticed my silence. I only nodded my head and followed him again.
“By the way, I’m Ryan Wu. His young master’s secretary,” he introduced himself. Why won’t he mention his master’s true name? I set aside that thought in my mind.
“I’m Sofia---” Before I could introduce myself, he looked at me. “I already know you, Miss Sanders.” Yeah, I know that. But it will be so rude of me if I don’t introduce myself personally, right?
“So, here we are,” we stopped walking, and he opened the door. “This will be your room. Please settle down; you can rest if you want to. We will leave you here now,” he said.
He’s so professional.
“Wait before you go. I wanted to ask when your young master will come?” I stared at me.
“Honestly, I don’t know because he’s a busy man. But don’t worry, it will be today or tomorrow,” he answered. I see, a busy man then.
“Thank you.” He only nodded and turned his back on me. I closed the door and sighed. This room is larger than my apartment. How rich the owner of this is?
“Okay, Sofia. You should hope the owner of this won’t kill you,” I muttered to myself. I approached the queen-sized bed. It looked so soft like it was inviting me to lie down and sleep again.
I shook my head. It is early in the morning; maybe it is not prohibited to roam around this place. I went out of the room and went downstairs.
The surroundings are so quiet as if no one lives here. Am I the only one who’s here at the moment? Or could there be a ghost? No, even if there is, I’m not afraid of them.
I went inside the kitchen first. First of all, if Mr. Wu’s not sure when his young master will come back, I need to know if there’s a supply of water and food here.
The kitchen is large and spacious. It looks very neat and clean, too. Kitchen appliances and tools, check. I slowly approached the fridge and checked inside. My eyes widened slightly at what I saw; it was filled with food and drinks.
I guess I can survive here for one month. Great, I hope Mr. Wu’s young master won’t come back. I close the fridge and step back. This will be my favourite spot.
A smile formed on my lips. This is great. What a good life.
I’m currently lying in my bed while watching a movie. It’s been two days since I came here, and I’ve been all alone in this mansion. Does Mr. Wu’s young master really have no plans of coming back?
Well, if that’s the case, I’ll take over his mansion then. It seems like he is incredibly wealthy, and he doesn’t want this mansion anymore.
I chuckle at that thought. I feel like an evil witch claiming something I don’t own. I laughed once again; gosh, am I going crazy here?
I got up from the bed when I felt thirsty. I was about to go downstairs to get some water when I heard a faint noise. Damn, what is that? Is there really a ghost here?
Even though I’m not afraid of ghosts, I can’t help but be afraid. “Hmmm… ugh..” My brow furrowed. Is that a moan? Where is it coming from?
I slowly followed where those voices were coming from. Am I only imagining what I’m hearing? As I got closer to the room, the noises grew louder.
“That’s it! More please!... ugh!” I blink twice. The heck? There’s someone here aside from me now? I went closer to the door and listened more.
But I stopped when I noticed the door was actually open. Is Mr. Wu’s back now? I smirk and went closer to see what’s really happening. Maybe he’s just watching some adult movie.
I approached the door and peeked inside a bit. But what I saw next sent a cold shiver down my spine. I didn’t expect it; I mean, I’ve seen such things before, but not like this.
And damn, it’s not Mr. Wu inside. It’s someone else I don’t know. They were having sex right in front of me. I closed my eyes immediately, and I was about to leave, but I accidentally pushed the door.
My eyes widened in shock. Shit! I saw the way they stopped moving and looked at me with the same expression as mine.
I pulled the door closed and ran away. Damn, that was embarrassing, I never intended to disturb them. That was unintentional. I shook my head and lightly slapped my face.
Please tell me that was just a dream. Gosh, I’m crying inside now. How can I unsee what I saw? I can’t forget the way he thrust inside her.
Sofia, erase that scene in your mind, please.
If that man is not Mr. Wu, then he is the mansion’s owner. I doubt if someone can do something like that here aside from the boss.
Shit, I’m screwed. How will I face him then? Oh wait, I just saw it; I’m not the one who did it. There’s nothing to be embarrassed.
That’s right, Sofia. Maybe if you meet here, just act innocently. Pretend like you did not see anything
Chapter 5: Marry MeSofia's POVI was just sitting on the sofa in the living room, watching a movie. Despite being calm, I couldn't explain the strange feeling I had. I never expected to see that in that room, and I still can't forget it. How could I forget such a scene, right? Oh God. Why did this happen to me?I took a deep breath and tried to focus on what I was watching. However, I was interrupted when I heard a rustle behind me, so I turned around. My lips sealed in shock. It was her, the woman he was having intimate relations with. She looked at me with disapproval. Well, it seems I ruined their moment.I didn't mean to. How would I know they were doing that over there? She rolled her eyes at me before finally leaving. She's got some attitude, huh?I just shrugged. I was about to go back to watching when my eyes caught something—a handsome, topless man. I couldn't help but admire his well-built body.I swallowed slowly. This guy has an amazing physique. I heard him clear his thr
Chapter 6: A DealSofia's POVDid I hear it right? Am I going to marry him? I looked at him in confusion. Why would he marry a poor girl like me? He looked rich, handsome and powerful. As he said a while ago, he can get any girl he likes. So why me? Something doesn't seem right here. What could he possibly gain from marrying me? I have nothing to offer him. Oh, wait, I do have something—the care, love, and beauty that I possess. I smiled to myself. Here I go again, super confident.I looked at him again, "You mean, marriage? Why? I mean, I'm beautiful, but I don't think that's enough reason for you to propose marriage to me," I confidently said. Damn, I'm daydreaming again. He looked at me intently. Wait, he didn't disagree that I'm beautiful. Does that mean he finds me attractive? It seems like this guy fancies me."So, what's the reason?" I asked again when he still didn't speak."I just need to get married, that's it. No other reason," he answered seriously.I raised an eyebrow, "
Chapter 7: The Wedding "Miss Sanders, the wedding will start in two minutes," a woman said to me. I nodded and gave a small smile.Everything happened so quickly. It feels like just yesterday when all of this happened. I never imagined I'd be getting married today.Although it's not my dream wedding, I wish my parents were still alive to see this."Mother, Father, your only child is getting married now," I whispered, biting my inner lip to hold back tears. I miss them terribly.I lost myself for a moment. Why am I crying? I shouldn't be; it'll ruin my makeup."Sofia Sanders?" I heard a gentle voice beside me. A blonde girl is standing there.I raised an eyebrow. Who is she? She's not the same woman who informed me earlier."Yes, it's me," I confirmed. She nodded, "I'm Christy, your bridesmaid," she introduced herself.Look how absurd this marriage is. I don't even know my own bridesmaid. I didn't invite any relatives; I didn't want my aunt and cousin to attend. Because of them, this
Chapter 8: Marcus Sterling Sofia's POVWhen I wake up in the morning, my head hurts so much. Damn, hangover. I yawned and stretched out my arms. What time is it? Why does the sunray burn my skin? As I looked around, I suddenly froze. Hmm? Why am I here in my room? I thought I slept on the couch last night? My brow furrowed as I recalled yesterday.Yesterday... Oh, right yesterday I got married. And my husband-- husband in contract, left me alone here with some blonde girl. Then, I got drunk. I pursed my lips. I'm a married woman now.I shrugged off and did my morning routines. A couple of hours later, I found myself walking downstairs. I'm starving, I need to get some food to feed my dragons in my stomach. When I arrived in the dining room, I found him there. He's sitting on his chair like a king on his throne. My eyebrows rise, and a smirk is playing on my lips.He probably had fun last night. "Good morning," I greeted him. He didn't look at me instead he told me to sit down and hav
Chapter 9: Privacy Sofia's POV"Who are you? This is the first time I've seen you here?" Obviously, because I just got here. I took a deep breath, stood upright, and confidently looked at them. I didn't want them to belittle me on my first day of work.I lost my job last time because of a crazy customer. I remember that incident again. It's making my blood boil. "I'm Sofia Sanders, Mr. Marcus Sterling's assistant," I confidently said. They both stared in disbelief. It seemed like they couldn't believe it."You're his new assistant?" I nodded."How? We didn't see you yesterday when they had an interview," I raised an eyebrow. Obviously, I didn't attend. Because he's the one who hired me."He hired me," I said honestly. They exchanged glances, then laughed."This girl is hallucinating things. Mr. Sterling doesn't just hire anyone as you said. You either graduated from a prestigious university or academy, or... you have connections," the other one said with a smirk.Yes, I do have a co
Chapter 10: TalkSofia's POVA few weeks had passed, and I rarely saw him inside the office because he's always outside attending different meetings. I thought I would join him in those meetings, but Marcus said he'd only need me when it is necessary. As a result, I often found myself alone in his office. It wasn't a problem for me; in fact, it was a favor since, despite being loud, I value my privacy. At home, he seldom comes back. Sometimes, I don't even wait for him because it gets too late. But a few days ago, I saw him with a blonde. I was slightly confused, but then I remembered my role. Oh, right, I'm just his wife on paper. We made an agreement about having an affair secretly. But I never thought he'd take it seriously. It's Monday today, which means I have work again. I walked slowly towards Rita. Marcus is not around again today; he's been gone for two days due to an out-of-town business meeting."Good morning, Rita!" I greeted her. She looked up and paused what she was doin
Chapter 11: Small ArgumentSofia’s POV“We need to talk,” My brow furrowed upon hearing that. Why do we need to talk? Is there something wrong? I nodded as I approached him.“Sure, but talk about what?” I asked. He let out a sigh like he’s calming himself. Why is he calming himself?“You broke the deal,” I immediately looked at him. What? I did not break anything. What is he talking about?“I don’t understand.” He’s playing ‘guess what I’m referring’ to again. “You went out,” So? Of course, I need to go out. What does he want? I will stay here or on the mansion all day and night?“What if the media saw you and your man?” My brow furrowed. Media? Me and my man? Oh, he’s talking about Jasper. So, he saw us. No one saw us. And besides, I doubt if someone can remember me being his wife.I shook my head, “There’s no media around. And there’s no big deal about it. You’re the one who always leaves with different woman. So, don’t ask me about this matter.” He glared at me.What? I glared bac
Chapter 12: Childhood FriendSofia’s POVMy eyes were so red when I woke up the next morning. I can’t believe him last night. Oh God, they did the deeds multiple times and it hurts my damn ears. They did not even bother to tone down their moans, groans, whatsoever. That’s absolutely and terribly gross.I walked downstairs while frowning. Good thing I don’t have work today. When I reached the dining room, I saw him having his breakfast already. I was wondering if he or they eat the food I made last night. I sighed and rolled my eyes.I did not greet him and sat down immediately. I know he noticed the sudden change of my behavior. And I’m also aware the he knew the reason. How bold they are last night. Just thinking of it making me want to throw up.It’s not like that I expect something from him. I know his not a saint to not do something like that. He can do whatever he wants, whatever he pleased.“I’m leaving today,” I told him and started digging on my food. He looked up, seems unbot
