I rushed down the stage, following behind Aunt Alexa keenly. “Please Aunt, don’t sell me off. I promise to pay you back for everything.” I cried behind her, and she took an abrupt turn, looking at me with a straight face. “You have paid back already. Didn’t you hear that man? $100,000! I can manage that.” She responded, letting out a grin. “But… but, I don’t know this man. What if he’s not a good man? What if he ends up…” “I do not care! You’ll have to take care of yourself, Mia! You are an adult. Listen, you need to act cool when we meet him. Don’t you dare act like you are forced to do this, okay?!” She smacked angrily, and I gulped hard. Tears rolled down my cheeks and I hastily ran the back of my hand across my face, completely forgetting that I had makeup on. “Finally, we are getting rid of her. Argh! I can’t believe I dreamt of this day!” Tasha, my cousin spat, walking towards us and standing akimbo next to her mother, Aunt Alexa. “What about her bags?” Aunt Alexa asked her. “Outside. Ryan left them there.” She responded, shooting another disgusted look at me. “Great. Mr Cross is waiting outside too. Come on, Mia.” She said to me, leading the way. I ignored Tasha and just followed behind Aunt Alexa. I was more worried about who my buyer was than anything. As we got out to the parking lot, I saw Ryan, my other cousin, walking towards us. He bit his lower lip as his eyes trailed over my body. “Can’t believe that man is going to have a taste of you first.” He muttered, and Aunt Alexa hit him hard on his head. “Get out of here, Ryan!” I clenched my jaws and looked up to see Mr Cross waiting by his car, and next to him stood another man I didn’t see when we were in the bar. Getting to where they stood, Aunt Alexa moved even closer, while I kept a reasonable distance away from her, keeping my head lowered in fear. “Mr Cross, once again, thank you. I don’t know how to express my gratitude. You finding Mia worthy of that amount is alarming. My secretary confirmed your payment.” Aunt Alexa uttered, grabbing me by the wrist and pulling me closer to her. “Hi, Mia.” I heard his deep and resonant voice again, and I slowly raised my head to look at him. He and the man that stood next to him kept their gazes on me. “H…hi.” I stuttered, trying to force on a smile, but I just couldn’t. Tears kept prickling the corner of my eyes. Aunt Alexa pointed to the luggage not too far from his car. “Her bag is…” “She wouldn’t be needing that.” Mr Cross cut her off, and I turned to look at Aunt Alexa. “Oh… okay. I’ll just take it back then. I expect to see you at our next auction…” “That won’t be happening, Mrs Alexa. We’ll be on our way now.” The man who stood next to Mr Cross answered as he walked to the other side of the car. “Get in.” Mr Cross said to me, and I nodded obediently, staring at Aunt Alexa. I knew the deal was sealed and there was no going back from here, but what I couldn’t believe was that she was so happy and comfortable selling me off. I got into the back seat and settled in. I kept to one side of the seat and placed my hands on my thighs. I looked out of the window and watched Aunt Alexa and the clubhouse vanish from sight. I gulped hard and looked up and that was when I noticed Mr Cross staring at me through the rear mirror. “Hello, Mia. So, I haven’t introduced myself to you. My name is John and I’m Ethan’s best friend.” The other man in front said, turning to look at me. He stretched out his hand in a handshake and I let out my hand too. “Hi, Mr John. My name is Mia.” I responded, unsure of the right response. “You are a very beautiful lady, Mia.” He added, and to my greatest surprise, he raised my hand to his lips and planted a kiss on my hand. My brows lifted in shock and I looked into the rare mirror to see Mr Ethan staring at me again. “John, let her be. You’re scaring her.” He said, and Mr John carefully let go of my hand. “Scaring her? Did she tell you that?” He scoffed, shaking his head. I breathed out softly and lowered my head again. I wasn’t sure how to feel about everything that was happening. “Don’t be scared, Mia. I’m not going to hurt you.” I heard Mr Ethan say, and for some reason, I believed him. Maybe it was because of how soft his gazes were, or the calmness in his voice. “Thank you, Mr Cross,” I responded with a faint smile. “It’s Ethan. Just Ethan is fine.” He replied, looking into the rear mirror again. I nodded shyly and just then, I heard Mr John laugh. “Just Ethan is fine.” He mocked with a laugh. “I knew you’d say that.” “Shut up, John. Act mature for once, okay?” Mr Cross responded. “Keep your eyes on the road and I’ll keep mine on this beautiful Diva.” Mr John uttered, turning to look at me. He had a large, funny grin on his face as he stared intensely at me and this made me grin widely. Even though I had yet to know either of them, Mr John seemed like a fun person to be with. “Mia, just ignore him, okay? That’s what I have to deal with every day.” Mr Cross uttered, and I chuckled softly and nodded. After a short while, we stopped in front of a huge mansion which happened to be Mr John’s. He alighted and bade us goodnight. After a few minutes, the car stopped again in front of a very huge mansion and my jaw dropped at its magnificence. Even though I had the idea that Mr Cross was going to be a rich man, I never expected his house to be so grand. It was one of the biggest houses I had ever seen. It was way bigger compared to Mr John’s. “Here we are.” Mr Cross uttered, turning off the car engine. I kept my gaze on the house as I got out of the car. I felt his gaze on him and I quickly tried to hide my awe. “Come on in.” He said, leading the way. I followed behind him, still struggling to walk properly in my four-inch heels. Getting to the porch, I carefully lifted my legs so I wouldn’t fall, and then I saw his hand in front of me. “Let me help you.” He uttered, and I nodded, holding onto his hand. “Thank you, Mr Cross,” I answered as I walked up the porch. “Ethan. Ethan.” He reminded me, and I nodded in obedience. As we got into the house, I was wowed again. It was extremely beautiful and warm, regardless of its largeness. “You should get out of those first.” He said, pointing to my heels before walking away. “Yes.” I pulled off my shoes, still feeding my eyes with the beauty of his home when he came back with a flip-flop. “Here. You can wear this. They’re mine, so they are pretty big.” He dropped them in front of me, and when I put them on, they were truly bigger than my feet. I mean, what was I expecting? He was way taller and bigger than I was. “Better?” He asked, and I raised my head to look at him. I let out a smile and nodded. “Much better.” “Great. C’mon, let me show you around while you tell me more about yourself.” He uttered, walking to a door on our right. “This is the kitchen.” He uttered, and I nodded. As I had expected, it was very huge and equipped. “Tell me, Mia. What is your relationship with Mrs Alexa?” He asked as he headed to the stairs. “She’s my Aunt,” I responded, and his eyes widened as he turned to look at me. “Your Aunt?” “Yes. My father’s sister. She took me in when my parents died.” “Woah. I can’t believe an Aunt would ever sell her niece off like that. That’s so unbelievable.” He responded while I was struggling to pull my gown down behind him. Climbing the stairs made my gown shift up to my ass and this was pretty embarrassing for me. I couldn’t let him see me like that. “Are you alright?” He asked, and when I raised my head, I realized he was looking at me. “Oh… yes. Yes, I’m fine. Thank you, Mr Cross.” I muttered, letting go of my gown. “You can pick any of these rooms. They are all empty.” He continued, pointing to the rooms on our left and right. “Okay, Sir.” “Tell me everything I need to know about you.” He said as we continued the tour. “Errmm… there’s not much to say. I’ve lived a pretty boring life. I’ve worked hard since I lost my parents. Things were never good with Aunt Alexa and her children.” I further narrated, and in no time, we were in the backyard, and there was a pool. ‘He has a pool!’ “This is the pool, obviously. You can come here anytime you want.” He responded, turning to look at me. “I can?” I asked in surprise. “Well, it’s too big for only me. Come here.” He said, walking to the chairs next to the pool. He sat on one and pointed to the other next to him. “Have a seat.” With my hands folded in front of me, I walked to the chair and sat upright. “How old are you, Mia?” He asked, reaching for something in his chest pocket and it happened to be a cigar. I raised my brows in surprise because I didn’t think he was a smoker. While he reached into his pants, he looked at me and that was when he realized. “Oh… you don’t mind. Do you?” He asked, and I shook my head. “No, I don’t. Aunt Alexa does it a lot too.” I responded, and he nodded and pulled out his lighter. “I am twenty years old,” I added. “What?” He managed to speak with the cigar in his mouth. And in some kind of way, this made him hotter. “Wow. You look so mature to be twenty. I mean, you’re very beautiful. I wanted to tell you that first, but John is just an asshole.” I chuckled softly and lowered my head. “Thank you, Mr Cross.” “Ethan, Mia. Just Ethan.” He sighed deeply. “Ethan,” I responded even though his name without a title felt heavy in my mouth. He owns me now.~Mia~He took a puff and nodded before looking at me again. “What can you do, Mia?” He asked. “I do basically anything. I can clean and cook pretty well. I used to do this at the clubhouse and my Aunt’s house. Chores don’t scare me.” I responded, and he nodded. “Great. I guess it’s settled then. You’ll take care of the house, cook, and do all necessary things and I’ll pay you at the end of the month.” He uttered, pressing the end of his cigar on the ashtray on the mini table that separated our chairs. “You’ll pay me?” I asked in awe, and he nodded. “Of course, I would. I wouldn’t let you work for free.” “But… but you bought me already. Why did you buy me if you would still pay me for what I’ll do?” I asked in confusion, and he let out a deep breath. “Listen, Mia. I don’t see you as some commodity or asset, I see you as a human. I paid that money because I was scared you would fall into the wrong hands. You seemed so innocent and scared when you were up there, I couldn’t take any
~Ethan ~ “Good morning, Sir.” My secretary greeted me as I walked towards my office door. “Good morning, Stella,” I responded with a wide smile as I headed into my office. As expected, it was all arranged and cleaned. I placed my briefcase on my table and slammed into my chair. I let out a loud sigh as I stared at the ceiling. I replayed what went down with Mia in my head again. It wasn’t the first time since last night, it was in my head throughout the night. I couldn’t forget how perfect and smooth her body was even though I wanted to so badly. Seeing her naked drove me insane, but I couldn’t show her that. I needed her to know that I didn’t get her out of the clubhouse just to use her. I just felt the urge to make sure she was safe. Last night, I was so hard in my shorts after I saw her and I even tried to distract myself by playing games on my iPad, but that didn’t work. I had to… you know, take care of that myself. ‘I’ll forget about her body soon. I know this.’ I assure
~Mia~I woke up at 11 a.m. and that was pretty strange. I couldn’t remember the last time I had stayed asleep this late. At my Aunt Alexa’s, 5 a.m., I am up, or the next thing I’ll hear is a smack on my face. But, I guess my body has quickly adjusted to this peaceful and serene life. ‘And Mr Ethan didn’t bother to wake me up either.’ I thought as I walked into the kitchen. Getting in, I found a sticky note on the fridge. I walked closer to the fridge and took a closer look at what was written on it. “Hey, Mia. I’m off to work now. I believe everything you need for dinner is in the fridge. See you.” I read with a wide smile on my face. ‘He leaves notes too? Who can be more perfect than my boss?’ I thought as I opened the fridge, and I was stunned by how stacked the fridge was with different ingredients and vegetables. I was excited because it was only going to make cooking easier for me. ‘But, should I make dinner now? It’s still quite early…” “Grrrr! Grrr!” The doorbell cut my
~Mia~ After microwaving the whole meal, I began to carry them in a large tray to the dining room, which was on the right side of the living room. As I walked out of the kitchen, my gaze fell on Mr Cross and his girlfriend on the couch, and what I saw shocked me. Sienna was seated on top of his thighs, facing him, and her mouth, I mean, the whole of her mouth was in his. Her eyes were opened and she stared at me keenly from above the couch. I gulped hard and hastily looked away. It seemed like she wanted me to see her doing whatever she was doing to him. It wasn’t my first time seeing people make out, it was a pretty common thing in my Aunt’s clubhouse, but seeing Mr. Ethan, whom I hold in high esteem doing this… It just felt weird. Especially… with her. I took hasty steps out of the dining room and into the kitchen again to bring out the remaining dishes. Every time I entered the dining room, I saw her always looking at me. ‘I wonder what is going on in her mind.’ “Mr Cross, d
~Ethan~ We began to wash the dishes together, she washed with soap and I rinsed with water. The only noise that could be heard was that of the running water and breakable plates. Though the kitchen wasn’t completely silent, I wanted to hear something from her. I wanted to hear her voice. But I knew that would be impossible if I didn’t start up a conversation. “So…” I uttered out of nowhere, giving her a jump scare. The plate in her hand slipped off and smashed into the floor causing a loud noise. The glass shattered all over the kitchen floor and she instantly fell to her knees to start picking up the pieces. “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I…” I moved closer to her and hastily grabbed her by the arm, lifting her from the floor. “There can be glass anywhere. You could injure yourself.” I uttered, moving her away from the spot. I looked at her legs and realized she didn’t even have flip-flops on. “Stay back. I’ll take care of it.” I added. “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I didn’t mean to.” Sh
~Mia~My eyes were wide open as soon as I woke up. If I were to guess how many hours I had slept, I’d say that it wasn’t more than four hours. After what I saw happen last night, I couldn’t bring myself to sleep peacefully. One time, I was thinking something was going on between my boss and me, something undeniable yet unspeakable. And the next minute, I saw his girlfriend, on her knees in front of him, pleasuring him, and he seemed to really like it considering the look on his face. Last night, I hid by the stairs on the second floor, taking a peek at whatever they were doing. I knew it was rude of me but I just couldn’t help it. The look of pleasure on his face as he was having fun made me unable to look away. I got so distracted that he ended up looking up the stairs while I was still there. I wasn’t sure if he saw me but I didn’t wait to find out, I ran to my room as fast as I could, hoping he didn’t. As if that wasn’t enough, I could hear her moans and screams coming from h
~Mia~~After a week~“Here we are,” Mr Cross uttered as soon as he parked his car in front of my school. I gulped hard and nodded, staring out of the window. There was a completely different life ahead of me, and even though I loved the idea of it and anticipated this day more than anything else, I felt scared…Scared that I may not fit in. I was scared that everyone would end up hating me like my Aunt and cousins. ‘What if I never make any friends?’ “Are you alright?” Mr Cross' question jolted me out of my thoughts, and I forced on a smile and nodded. “Yes; I am, Mr Cross,” I responded, unbuckling my seatbelt. “I hope you are not having second thoughts.” He added, and I hastily shook my head. ‘Second thoughts? It was way too late for that. Mr Cross had paid every single bill that needed to be paid. I can’t chicken out now. I won’t let him regret that he believes in me.’ “No, I’m not.” “Good. Now, let’s go in.” He uttered, unbuckling his seatbelt too, and I raised my brows in s
~Ethan~It was lunchtime and I couldn’t stop staring at my phone, waiting for her reply. Her class finished about thirty minutes ago, and my message got delivered but she didn’t check. ‘Her next class was going to start in thirty minutes, so why isn’t she replying to my text?’ I thought, dying of curiosity. I needed her to tell me how it was going and how she was feeling. I wanted her to tell me she made friends already and she was loving the school. She promised to update me on how everything was going as frequently as she could earlier this morning, but she hasn’t done that. “Hey!” I heard John’s voice from my door, causing me to raise my head. “What?!” I saw the look on his face as he walked in and I just knew he was about to piss me off. “What the hell is wrong with you? I’ve been standing behind your door for a while and you didn’t look away from your phone for once. Is something bothering you?” He asked, slamming into the chair in front of my desk. I heaved a sigh and shoo
~John~I drove to Darla’s house, and as I pulled up to the location, my brows furrowed in confusion. ‘Why does this place look so awkwardly familiar if it’s my first time here?’ I wondered, turning off the engine.Reaching for my phone, I was about to text her when I heard the creak of the gate. Looking up, I saw Darla step out of the compound.“So, I wasn’t imagining things,” I muttered, setting my phone aside as a wide grin spread across my face. “Hey,” I greeted, opening my door and stepping out.“Hey.” Her voice was soft, her lips curling into a faint smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. Something felt...off. I opened my arms, pulling her into a tight embrace, my gaze drifting back to the house.“Are you alright?” I asked as she sniffled, nodding against my chest. Pulling back slightly, I looked into her face. “Why does your house look so familiar?”She sighed heavily, her head dropping. “Because...you probably know this house,” she muttered, swallowing hard.“What do you mean?
~Mia~As Ethan and I sat cuddled on the couch in the living room, the sound of the door opening and closing caught our attention. We turned to look, and to our utter shock, it was Mrs. Cross.I quickly jumped to my feet, stepping away from Ethan, my heart pounding as she walked toward us, her eyes locked on me.“Mum, you didn’t mention you were coming,” Ethan said calmly, standing up as well.“Well, I needed to see things for myself,” she replied with a sigh, settling onto one of the armchairs. Ethan stepped closer to me, lacing his fingers with mine. I glanced at him in disbelief.“I knew if I told you I was coming, you two would try to put on an act,” she added.“Mother, we…” Ethan began, but she quickly interrupted.“Let me finish first, okay?” she said gently, gesturing to the couch opposite her. “Please, sit.”Ethan and I exchanged a wary look before doing as she asked. With a deep breath, she continued, “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I’ve realized how self-centered I’ve
~Ethan~I pulled up outside Alexa’s clubhouse and stepped out of the car. Taking long strides, I circled to the passenger side and opened the door for Mia.“Thank you,” she said shyly as she stepped out.“You don’t have to thank me for that.” I took her hand in mine, shutting the door behind us. “It’s just what I’m supposed to do.”We walked toward the entrance together, and I could see the unease etched on Mia’s face. It wasn’t hard to understand why. She hadn’t seen her aunt since the day she’d been sold off, and now that same aunt was sick and planning to sell off Mia’s parents’ properties? It was too much for anyone to process.Inside the club, the daytime atmosphere felt muted compared to its usual liveliness. A few workers were scattered about: the bartender, a couple of the girls, and the cleaners prepping for the night.Mia led the way to her aunt’s office, but before we could reach the door, a voice called out from behind us.“Mia?”We stopped and turned. The guy approaching
~Mia~After a week of exams..."Arrghhh! I’m so glad to finally be done! Now I can enjoy life like never before!" Sharon exclaimed, throwing her arms around my shoulders with glee.I chuckled lightly, nodding. “Same,” I replied, though my tone was far less enthusiastic than hers. “But I’m not happy because I have more time for fun,” I muttered under my breath, my thoughts inevitably returning to Aunt Alexa and the malicious schemes she had for my parents’ estate.Sharon’s expression softened as she looked at me. “Is Charles still giving you trouble?” she asked, concern written all over her face.I shook my head. “No. I’ve made my peace with him facing the consequences of his actions,” I said.“Good,” Sharon said sharply. “He nearly killed Mr. Cross and ran that disgusting anonymous account to ruin your reputation. He’s a lowlife who deserves to rot in prison.”I raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by her bluntness.“Well… maybe not rot, but a few years wouldn’t hurt,” she stammered, h
~Sienna~ I paced back and forth in my room, my eyes locked on the pictures on John’s Instagram story. It was from the annual charity gala Ethan and I were supposed to attend together, yet now, he was there with *her*—that maid!“Ugh, he has no taste whatsoever!” I shouted, frustration bubbling over. The thought of him parading around with her at such an event, embarrassing me like this, was infuriating. That girl has done enough. It's time to end this for good. I paused, dialing Mrs. Cross’s number. I needed her to remind me where her loyalties lay—she had been acting too comfortable lately. As the phone rang, I resumed my pacing, waiting for her to pick up. When she finally answered, I stopped in my tracks.“Mrs. Cross?” My voice quivered, on the verge of breaking. “Sienna, darling, how are you?” she replied sweetly. I sniffed, trying to hold back the tears. “I’m not okay, Mom. Ethan went to the gala with that maid. It was supposed to be the two of us,” I mumbled, sniffling harde
~Mia~ I stood in front of the mirror, eyes fixed on my reflection. I was wearing a sleek black silk dress with tiny straps, the one Ethan had gifted me. Around my neck, the necklace he gave me shimmered, and a dainty watch rested on my wrist, right above my black cotten glove. On the other side of the room, Ethan stood in front of the closet, busy getting dressed as well. We were getting ready for the Charity Gala he’d been invited to, and he’d asked me to accompany him as his date.“Baby, can you help me with my watch?” Ethan called out, and I turned toward him. A soft smile spread across my face as he walked toward me and extended his hand.“Why are you smiling?” he asked, his grin playful as he gazed at me.I shrugged lightly. “I… I don’t know,” I stammered, “This… this feels cute. It’s like we’re a couple,” I added shyly, fastening his watch around his wrist. He chuckled. “Like a couple? We are a couple already, babe. We’re not pretending,” he replied, reaching up to touch my fa
~Alexa~"Get Dina here, now!" I shouted, my frustration echoing through the office. One of the girls quickly bolted to fetch her. My account book sat on the desk in front of me, glaring back like an unwelcome reminder.Dina was the club's newest stripper, and in her first week, she was a star—pulling in over $500 a night and earning the title of my favorite. But now? Her nightly earnings had plummeted to less than $100.The door creaked open, and Dina stepped in, dressed for the night."You called for me, Alexa?" she asked, her tone cautious.I grabbed the account book and flung it toward her. She caught it just before it hit the ground. "What the hell is going on? Look at this! Your numbers have tanked! Are you stealing from me?" I demanded, my voice laced with fury. Her eyes widened in shock. "What? No, Alexa! I’d never do that!""Then explain this!" I snapped. "Why aren’t you earning like you used to? What’s the excuse? Your knees giving out or something?"Dina shook her head, "Tha
~John~I pulled into the parking lot and stepped out of my car, clutching a bouquet of roses in one hand. I adjusted my suit and shirt, my heart pounded with nervous anticipation as I approached the entrance.Pushing the door open, I paused for a moment, my eyes sweeping across the restaurant in search of her. And then, there she was—seated in a cozy corner. She spotted me and waved, her face glowing with a cheerful grin. A broad smile spread across my own face as I made my way toward her.I approached the table and set the bouquet on it. She stood, greeting me with a warm hug and a light kiss on the cheek.“Finally,” she said, her voice brimming with excitement as she sat down again.“Right.” I chuckled. “Finally. I’m so sorry you had to wait this long.” Sitting down, I picked up the bouquet and extended it to her. “These are for you.”She accepted it with a soft smile, bringing the flowers to her nose for a gentle sniff. “This is so sweet of you,” she murmured, closing her eyes as i
~Mia~“Won’t you go back to her?” I whispered as I manage to break the kiss and catch my breath. He heaved a loud sigh, his hand moving slowly under my shirt, right on top of my nipple. “I will, but I don’t want to move away from you.” he muttered, resting his forehead on mine. I was still pinned to the wall and my hands were held up high, above my head with one of his hands, while the other explored my warm, perky peaks. “You have to or she will cause another problem.” I responded sadly, “I don’t think I want to deal with her anymore, Ethan.” “You wouldn’t have to.” He responded, slowly releasing his grip on my hands and they fell to my side. I could feel slight pain in my shoulders, but I didn’t care about it. “She wouldn’t bother you anymore. I am working on a plan to end things with her for good.” He said, and my face instantly lit up.“Really?” My voice etched with hope. “Hmmm,” he nodded. “I just need a little more time. I need to prepare my mother for what is to come. If s
