~Mia~
I sat in front of the mirror, my eyes were shut as the makeup brush skimmed over my eyelids. The music from the bar could be slightly heard in the dressing room I was in, and even though it was my favorite song, I dared not move. My Aunt Alexa was doing my makeup which was pretty strange and surprising. Not only the fact that she was doing my makeup, but that I needed makeup tonight was confusing. My Aunt Alexa was never this nice to me. “Oh God, I can’t wait to finish this makeover! Their heads will turn tonight!” She squealed with excitement, causing me to furrow my brows. ‘Their heads? Whose heads?’ I wondered, but I couldn’t say a word, or I was going to get hit, like always. Since my parents died in a car accident when I was seven, I have lived with Aunt Alexa since then. And I must confess that it wasn’t the peaceful life I pictured or always wanted. I was bullied and maltreated by her and her children, my cousins. I never did anything right in their sights. In fact, I had to work very hard before I could eat once a day. When I turned ten, I began to work in this clubhouse owned by my Aunt. I would clean, wash and even cook when necessary. However, it has always been like this and I’ve gotten pretty used to it. But today… Today, my Aunt is giving me the attention I hadn’t gotten in years. She bought me a beautiful mini, red dress and now, she’s doing my makeup? Something is wrong somewhere. ‘Why are you being so nice to me, Aunt Alexa?’ I thought, and suddenly, there was a smack on my shoulders. “Great! Now, open your eyes.” She whispered next to my ear and I slowly opened my eyes. I slowly lifted my eyebrows in astonishment as I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked extremely beautiful. More than I had ever been. This made me excited, but beneath that excitement was confusion. ‘Why all this all of a sudden?’ “Aunt Alexa, why am I dressed so beautifully?” I asked, slightly tilting my head to the side to look at her face. “Because… Today, you are finally going to repay all my good deeds.” She responded with a large grin, but I was still very confused. “Repay? But… I don’t have any money.” I muttered and she scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Listen to me, Mia. You are now twenty years old, and I can’t keep looking after you forever. You have to remember you are not my daughter and I have my children to take care of.” She uttered, and I gulped painfully, nodding in agreement. “Yes.” “Great.” She moved her hands to my cleavages which were protruding out from the neckline of my gown and ran her finger on them. “I have groomed you into a beautiful, sexy lady.” She whispered, leaning closer and looking at me through the mirror again. “All these assets you have are going to fetch me some good money. Now, we have to get out there. Get up.” She commanded, and I hastily did as I was told. “Aunt… Alexa, I don’t understand.” I stuttered, pulling the hem of my gown down so it would cover more of my skin. My hips were so huge in them that they barely covered my backside. “Mia, please! You’re beginning to annoy me! You’ll figure it out yourself sooner or later!” She smacked, and I hastily nodded, swallowing hard again. She headed out of the dressing room and I followed behind her. Getting out, I saw other ladies, in different sizes, all dressed up like I was. Ladies were often dressed up like this on special occasions. And one of them was ‘The Auction.’ I shook my head and let out a faint smile. ‘It’s impossible. My Aunt would never sell me.’ I thought, shaking the thoughts off. “Ladies, come closer!” Aunt Alexa announced from the door that led to the bar. The other ladies rushed to the door, but I remained where I was. I believed she wasn’t talking to me until I saw her shoot me a deadly look. “C’mon, Mia! Don’t fucking waste my time!” She shouted, and immediately I found my way to the door, struggling to walk properly in the outrageous heels she got for me. “Now, listen ladies. This is a very important night for the clubhouse and you. You are going to go up there and give them your all, okay?! The lady that brings home the highest bid is definitely getting a special package from me.” She uttered, and all the girls happily muttered things to each other, chuckling and adjusting themselves in their exposing dresses. But I was left in uttermost dismay. Reality dawned on me. ‘My aunt is going to sell me to those filthy men that use women!” “Flaunt those titties and asses, girls! Tonight is your night!” “Yess!” They all yelled in unison. I blinked severally and even raised my hand, trying to get Aunt Alexa’s attention, but she just ignored me and walked into the bar. My heart began to thump against my chest and I looked around me, hoping someone was going to save me, but there was no one. I was alone. Like I had always been. While I stood, speechless and scared in front of the door, I heard my Aunt’s voice from inside the bar. “Good evening gentlemen! Tonight is the night we’ve all been waiting for! It’s another season of The Auction!” She screamed in excitement, and I could hear the cheering from the audience. ‘What if I’m sold off to a man that will maltreat me? Or even kill me?!’ Sweat oozed out of my pores as I thought about every terrible thing that could happen to me. “Without wasting any more time, let’s get down to business! I present to you, the ladies of the night!” She yelled, and another round of applause followed her words. The ladies in front of me began to walk into the bar, and in no time, they were all gone, leaving me behind the door. My hands and legs shivered in fear. I had never been in the spotlight, ever before. ‘How am I supposed to act?’ All of a sudden, my Aunt appeared again. “Oh, Mia! Don’t ruin my mood tonight. I believe you will bring in the highest bid, trust me. I mean, look at that body.” She uttered softly. “Now, get out there.” She grabbed my arm and pulled me into the bar. She let go of me and stood behind me, signaling to me to go up the stage, where the spotlight was. My legs quivered at every step I took. My head remained lowered as I got on the stage and stood next to the other girls. The spotlights were so bright that I couldn’t see those seated behind them. “So, the number one girl of the night! Rita!” My aunt announced, and a slim, beautiful lady moved out from the straight line where we waited. She walked from one end of the stage to the other end, smiling widely. I couldn’t help but wonder how they could be so comfortable and happy doing this. I just wanted to run away as fast as I could. “Rita’s opening bid is $7,000!” Aunt Alexa announced. “$7000!” A voice from behind the spotlight yelled and I raised my head out of curiosity. Another spotlight was put on this man, and from looking at him, he seemed like a gentle businessman, dressed in a black suit. ‘No gentleman will come to places like this.’ I told myself, slightly lowering my head again. “$7,000 going! One! Two! And sold! She is sold to the handsome man in black.” My Aunt announced happily and the lady walked down the stage, approaching her buyer. The line rapidly reduced as the bidding went as fast as possible. I was the last on the line and as it got closer to my turn, it was as if the ground was going to open up and swallow me. After a while, I was finally left on the stage with my Aunt. “Now, for the real deal of tonight! Mia! A perfect curvy, virgin girl you can ever find! Innocent and cute! $50,000 is Mia’s opening bid…” ‘What?! Why would anyone buy me for such an amount?’ I thought in disbelief. “$51,000!” A voice yelled from the audience and my eyes popped wide open. With my heart racing in my chest, I raised my head to look at who had spoken. “$55,000!” Another man yelled, also standing up. “$55,000! Going, one…” “$70,000!” “What?! $70,000?! That is incredible!” Aunt Alexa yelled in shock, and when the spotlight came on this man, I was terrified by his look. He was hefty and had tattoos all over him. He was no doubt a Mafia boss. “$70,000! Going…” “$100,000!” “What the hell?” I muttered in shock. Aunt Alexa looked at me with shock on her face and it seemed like everyone was also in shock. The spotlight came on him and our eyes met. For the first time, someone looked at me like he wasn’t ready to rip my clothes off my body. He looked very tall and wore a vintage shirt and pants. He seemed like another gentleman. “$100,000! Going, one! Two! And Sold to that gentleman over there!” Aunt Alexa announced enthusiastically. “What’s your name, sir?!” “Ethan. Ethan Cross.” Even though there was chaos in the room, I couldn’t seem to take my eyes off my new owner, and it seemed mutual to him too. ‘Why did you buy me with such an outrageous amount, Mr Ethan? What kind of life am I stepping into?’~Mia~ I rushed down the stage, following behind Aunt Alexa keenly. “Please Aunt, don’t sell me off. I promise to pay you back for everything.” I cried behind her, and she took an abrupt turn, looking at me with a straight face. “You have paid back already. Didn’t you hear that man? $100,000! I can manage that.” She responded, letting out a grin. “But… but, I don’t know this man. What if he’s not a good man? What if he ends up…” “I do not care! You’ll have to take care of yourself, Mia! You are an adult. Listen, you need to act cool when we meet him. Don’t you dare act like you are forced to do this, okay?!” She smacked angrily, and I gulped hard.Tears rolled down my cheeks and I hastily ran the back of my hand across my face, completely forgetting that I had makeup on. “Finally, we are getting rid of her. Argh! I can’t believe I dreamt of this day!” Tasha, my cousin spat, walking towards us and standing akimbo next to her mother, Aunt Alexa. “What about her bags?” Aunt Alexa as
~Mia~He took a puff and nodded before looking at me again. “What can you do, Mia?” He asked. “I do basically anything. I can clean and cook pretty well. I used to do this at the clubhouse and my Aunt’s house. Chores don’t scare me.” I responded, and he nodded. “Great. I guess it’s settled then. You’ll take care of the house, cook, and do all necessary things and I’ll pay you at the end of the month.” He uttered, pressing the end of his cigar on the ashtray on the mini table that separated our chairs. “You’ll pay me?” I asked in awe, and he nodded. “Of course, I would. I wouldn’t let you work for free.” “But… but you bought me already. Why did you buy me if you would still pay me for what I’ll do?” I asked in confusion, and he let out a deep breath. “Listen, Mia. I don’t see you as some commodity or asset, I see you as a human. I paid that money because I was scared you would fall into the wrong hands. You seemed so innocent and scared when you were up there, I couldn’t take any
~Ethan ~ “Good morning, Sir.” My secretary greeted me as I walked towards my office door. “Good morning, Stella,” I responded with a wide smile as I headed into my office. As expected, it was all arranged and cleaned. I placed my briefcase on my table and slammed into my chair. I let out a loud sigh as I stared at the ceiling. I replayed what went down with Mia in my head again. It wasn’t the first time since last night, it was in my head throughout the night. I couldn’t forget how perfect and smooth her body was even though I wanted to so badly. Seeing her naked drove me insane, but I couldn’t show her that. I needed her to know that I didn’t get her out of the clubhouse just to use her. I just felt the urge to make sure she was safe. Last night, I was so hard in my shorts after I saw her and I even tried to distract myself by playing games on my iPad, but that didn’t work. I had to… you know, take care of that myself. ‘I’ll forget about her body soon. I know this.’ I assure
~Mia~I woke up at 11 a.m. and that was pretty strange. I couldn’t remember the last time I had stayed asleep this late. At my Aunt Alexa’s, 5 a.m., I am up, or the next thing I’ll hear is a smack on my face. But, I guess my body has quickly adjusted to this peaceful and serene life. ‘And Mr Ethan didn’t bother to wake me up either.’ I thought as I walked into the kitchen. Getting in, I found a sticky note on the fridge. I walked closer to the fridge and took a closer look at what was written on it. “Hey, Mia. I’m off to work now. I believe everything you need for dinner is in the fridge. See you.” I read with a wide smile on my face. ‘He leaves notes too? Who can be more perfect than my boss?’ I thought as I opened the fridge, and I was stunned by how stacked the fridge was with different ingredients and vegetables. I was excited because it was only going to make cooking easier for me. ‘But, should I make dinner now? It’s still quite early…” “Grrrr! Grrr!” The doorbell cut my
~Mia~ After microwaving the whole meal, I began to carry them in a large tray to the dining room, which was on the right side of the living room. As I walked out of the kitchen, my gaze fell on Mr Cross and his girlfriend on the couch, and what I saw shocked me. Sienna was seated on top of his thighs, facing him, and her mouth, I mean, the whole of her mouth was in his. Her eyes were opened and she stared at me keenly from above the couch. I gulped hard and hastily looked away. It seemed like she wanted me to see her doing whatever she was doing to him. It wasn’t my first time seeing people make out, it was a pretty common thing in my Aunt’s clubhouse, but seeing Mr. Ethan, whom I hold in high esteem doing this… It just felt weird. Especially… with her. I took hasty steps out of the dining room and into the kitchen again to bring out the remaining dishes. Every time I entered the dining room, I saw her always looking at me. ‘I wonder what is going on in her mind.’ “Mr Cross, d
~Ethan~ We began to wash the dishes together, she washed with soap and I rinsed with water. The only noise that could be heard was that of the running water and breakable plates. Though the kitchen wasn’t completely silent, I wanted to hear something from her. I wanted to hear her voice. But I knew that would be impossible if I didn’t start up a conversation. “So…” I uttered out of nowhere, giving her a jump scare. The plate in her hand slipped off and smashed into the floor causing a loud noise. The glass shattered all over the kitchen floor and she instantly fell to her knees to start picking up the pieces. “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I…” I moved closer to her and hastily grabbed her by the arm, lifting her from the floor. “There can be glass anywhere. You could injure yourself.” I uttered, moving her away from the spot. I looked at her legs and realized she didn’t even have flip-flops on. “Stay back. I’ll take care of it.” I added. “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I didn’t mean to.” Sh
~Mia~My eyes were wide open as soon as I woke up. If I were to guess how many hours I had slept, I’d say that it wasn’t more than four hours. After what I saw happen last night, I couldn’t bring myself to sleep peacefully. One time, I was thinking something was going on between my boss and me, something undeniable yet unspeakable. And the next minute, I saw his girlfriend, on her knees in front of him, pleasuring him, and he seemed to really like it considering the look on his face. Last night, I hid by the stairs on the second floor, taking a peek at whatever they were doing. I knew it was rude of me but I just couldn’t help it. The look of pleasure on his face as he was having fun made me unable to look away. I got so distracted that he ended up looking up the stairs while I was still there. I wasn’t sure if he saw me but I didn’t wait to find out, I ran to my room as fast as I could, hoping he didn’t. As if that wasn’t enough, I could hear her moans and screams coming from h
~Mia~~After a week~“Here we are,” Mr Cross uttered as soon as he parked his car in front of my school. I gulped hard and nodded, staring out of the window. There was a completely different life ahead of me, and even though I loved the idea of it and anticipated this day more than anything else, I felt scared…Scared that I may not fit in. I was scared that everyone would end up hating me like my Aunt and cousins. ‘What if I never make any friends?’ “Are you alright?” Mr Cross' question jolted me out of my thoughts, and I forced on a smile and nodded. “Yes; I am, Mr Cross,” I responded, unbuckling my seatbelt. “I hope you are not having second thoughts.” He added, and I hastily shook my head. ‘Second thoughts? It was way too late for that. Mr Cross had paid every single bill that needed to be paid. I can’t chicken out now. I won’t let him regret that he believes in me.’ “No, I’m not.” “Good. Now, let’s go in.” He uttered, unbuckling his seatbelt too, and I raised my brows in s
~Mia~The car ride to the police station was quiet. I knew Ethan wanted Charles to suffer more for what he had done, but despite his own feelings, he couldn’t ignore what I wanted.“Are you okay?” I asked softly, my hand reaching for his thigh.Ethan glanced at me, then offered a small smile. “Yeah, I am.” He nodded. “Why do you ask?”“You seem deep in thought,” I replied, returning his smile. He arched a brow. “Well, you’re not wrong.” He exhaled. “I can’t shake this uneasy feeling about letting Charles go. We’re finally happy together—what if he does something reckless again? What if he tries to hurt you?”I sighed, understanding his concern. “I get it, baby. But that’s exactly why we’re going to talk to him first. He needs to prove that he’s no longer a threat. And who knows? Maybe he’ll finally reveal who sent him after you in the first place.”Ethan considered my words, then shrugged. “Well, we’re already on our way, aren’t we? Guess that means you win.” He smirked playfully, and
~John~I drove to Darla’s house, and as I pulled up to the location, my brows furrowed in confusion. ‘Why does this place look so awkwardly familiar if it’s my first time here?’ I wondered, turning off the engine.Reaching for my phone, I was about to text her when I heard the creak of the gate. Looking up, I saw Darla step out of the compound.“So, I wasn’t imagining things,” I muttered, setting my phone aside as a wide grin spread across my face. “Hey,” I greeted, opening my door and stepping out.“Hey.” Her voice was soft, her lips curling into a faint smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. Something felt...off. I opened my arms, pulling her into a tight embrace, my gaze drifting back to the house.“Are you alright?” I asked as she sniffled, nodding against my chest. Pulling back slightly, I looked into her face. “Why does your house look so familiar?”She sighed heavily, her head dropping. “Because...you probably know this house,” she muttered, swallowing hard.“What do you mean?
~Mia~As Ethan and I sat cuddled on the couch in the living room, the sound of the door opening and closing caught our attention. We turned to look, and to our utter shock, it was Mrs. Cross.I quickly jumped to my feet, stepping away from Ethan, my heart pounding as she walked toward us, her eyes locked on me.“Mum, you didn’t mention you were coming,” Ethan said calmly, standing up as well.“Well, I needed to see things for myself,” she replied with a sigh, settling onto one of the armchairs. Ethan stepped closer to me, lacing his fingers with mine. I glanced at him in disbelief.“I knew if I told you I was coming, you two would try to put on an act,” she added.“Mother, we…” Ethan began, but she quickly interrupted.“Let me finish first, okay?” she said gently, gesturing to the couch opposite her. “Please, sit.”Ethan and I exchanged a wary look before doing as she asked. With a deep breath, she continued, “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I’ve realized how self-centered I’ve
~Ethan~I pulled up outside Alexa’s clubhouse and stepped out of the car. Taking long strides, I circled to the passenger side and opened the door for Mia.“Thank you,” she said shyly as she stepped out.“You don’t have to thank me for that.” I took her hand in mine, shutting the door behind us. “It’s just what I’m supposed to do.”We walked toward the entrance together, and I could see the unease etched on Mia’s face. It wasn’t hard to understand why. She hadn’t seen her aunt since the day she’d been sold off, and now that same aunt was sick and planning to sell off Mia’s parents’ properties? It was too much for anyone to process.Inside the club, the daytime atmosphere felt muted compared to its usual liveliness. A few workers were scattered about: the bartender, a couple of the girls, and the cleaners prepping for the night.Mia led the way to her aunt’s office, but before we could reach the door, a voice called out from behind us.“Mia?”We stopped and turned. The guy approaching
~Mia~After a week of exams..."Arrghhh! I’m so glad to finally be done! Now I can enjoy life like never before!" Sharon exclaimed, throwing her arms around my shoulders with glee.I chuckled lightly, nodding. “Same,” I replied, though my tone was far less enthusiastic than hers. “But I’m not happy because I have more time for fun,” I muttered under my breath, my thoughts inevitably returning to Aunt Alexa and the malicious schemes she had for my parents’ estate.Sharon’s expression softened as she looked at me. “Is Charles still giving you trouble?” she asked, concern written all over her face.I shook my head. “No. I’ve made my peace with him facing the consequences of his actions,” I said.“Good,” Sharon said sharply. “He nearly killed Mr. Cross and ran that disgusting anonymous account to ruin your reputation. He’s a lowlife who deserves to rot in prison.”I raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by her bluntness.“Well… maybe not rot, but a few years wouldn’t hurt,” she stammered, h
~Sienna~ I paced back and forth in my room, my eyes locked on the pictures on John’s Instagram story. It was from the annual charity gala Ethan and I were supposed to attend together, yet now, he was there with *her*—that maid!“Ugh, he has no taste whatsoever!” I shouted, frustration bubbling over. The thought of him parading around with her at such an event, embarrassing me like this, was infuriating. That girl has done enough. It's time to end this for good. I paused, dialing Mrs. Cross’s number. I needed her to remind me where her loyalties lay—she had been acting too comfortable lately. As the phone rang, I resumed my pacing, waiting for her to pick up. When she finally answered, I stopped in my tracks.“Mrs. Cross?” My voice quivered, on the verge of breaking. “Sienna, darling, how are you?” she replied sweetly. I sniffed, trying to hold back the tears. “I’m not okay, Mom. Ethan went to the gala with that maid. It was supposed to be the two of us,” I mumbled, sniffling harde
~Mia~ I stood in front of the mirror, eyes fixed on my reflection. I was wearing a sleek black silk dress with tiny straps, the one Ethan had gifted me. Around my neck, the necklace he gave me shimmered, and a dainty watch rested on my wrist, right above my black cotten glove. On the other side of the room, Ethan stood in front of the closet, busy getting dressed as well. We were getting ready for the Charity Gala he’d been invited to, and he’d asked me to accompany him as his date.“Baby, can you help me with my watch?” Ethan called out, and I turned toward him. A soft smile spread across my face as he walked toward me and extended his hand.“Why are you smiling?” he asked, his grin playful as he gazed at me.I shrugged lightly. “I… I don’t know,” I stammered, “This… this feels cute. It’s like we’re a couple,” I added shyly, fastening his watch around his wrist. He chuckled. “Like a couple? We are a couple already, babe. We’re not pretending,” he replied, reaching up to touch my fa
~Alexa~"Get Dina here, now!" I shouted, my frustration echoing through the office. One of the girls quickly bolted to fetch her. My account book sat on the desk in front of me, glaring back like an unwelcome reminder.Dina was the club's newest stripper, and in her first week, she was a star—pulling in over $500 a night and earning the title of my favorite. But now? Her nightly earnings had plummeted to less than $100.The door creaked open, and Dina stepped in, dressed for the night."You called for me, Alexa?" she asked, her tone cautious.I grabbed the account book and flung it toward her. She caught it just before it hit the ground. "What the hell is going on? Look at this! Your numbers have tanked! Are you stealing from me?" I demanded, my voice laced with fury. Her eyes widened in shock. "What? No, Alexa! I’d never do that!""Then explain this!" I snapped. "Why aren’t you earning like you used to? What’s the excuse? Your knees giving out or something?"Dina shook her head, "Tha
~John~I pulled into the parking lot and stepped out of my car, clutching a bouquet of roses in one hand. I adjusted my suit and shirt, my heart pounded with nervous anticipation as I approached the entrance.Pushing the door open, I paused for a moment, my eyes sweeping across the restaurant in search of her. And then, there she was—seated in a cozy corner. She spotted me and waved, her face glowing with a cheerful grin. A broad smile spread across my own face as I made my way toward her.I approached the table and set the bouquet on it. She stood, greeting me with a warm hug and a light kiss on the cheek.“Finally,” she said, her voice brimming with excitement as she sat down again.“Right.” I chuckled. “Finally. I’m so sorry you had to wait this long.” Sitting down, I picked up the bouquet and extended it to her. “These are for you.”She accepted it with a soft smile, bringing the flowers to her nose for a gentle sniff. “This is so sweet of you,” she murmured, closing her eyes as i
