~After a week~

“Here we are,” Mr Cross uttered as soon as he parked his car in front of my school. I gulped hard and nodded, staring out of the window.

There was a completely different life ahead of me, and even though I loved the idea of it and anticipated this day more than anything else, I felt scared…

Scared that I may not fit in. I was scared that everyone would end up hating me like my Aunt and cousins. ‘What if I never make any friends?’

“Are you alright?” Mr Cross' question jolted me out of my thoughts, and I forced on a smile and nodded.

“Yes; I am, Mr Cross,” I responded, unbuckling my seatbelt.

“I hope you are not having second thoughts.” He added, and I hastily shook my head.

‘Second thoughts? It was way too late for that. Mr Cross had paid every single bill that needed to be paid. I can’t chicken out now. I won’t let him regret that he believes in me.’
