~Mia~
I woke up at 11 a.m. and that was pretty strange. I couldn’t remember the last time I had stayed asleep this late. At my Aunt Alexa’s, 5 a.m., I am up, or the next thing I’ll hear is a smack on my face. But, I guess my body has quickly adjusted to this peaceful and serene life. ‘And Mr Ethan didn’t bother to wake me up either.’ I thought as I walked into the kitchen. Getting in, I found a sticky note on the fridge. I walked closer to the fridge and took a closer look at what was written on it. “Hey, Mia. I’m off to work now. I believe everything you need for dinner is in the fridge. See you.” I read with a wide smile on my face. ‘He leaves notes too? Who can be more perfect than my boss?’ I thought as I opened the fridge, and I was stunned by how stacked the fridge was with different ingredients and vegetables. I was excited because it was only going to make cooking easier for me. ‘But, should I make dinner now? It’s still quite early…” “Grrrr! Grrr!” The doorbell cut my thoughts short and I looked out of the kitchen door. ‘Who could that be?’ “I’m coming!” I answered, shutting the fridge and rushing out of the kitchen. Getting to the door, I looked out through the peephole and saw a man, dressed in a blue overall and a blue face cap. “You've got a delivery, ma’am.” He uttered, and I opened the door. “Errm… Hi!” I responded with a wide smile. “Mr Cross isn’t around now, but I can take the delivery,” I responded, looking down at the numerous bags on the porch floor. “This isn’t for Mr Cross, Ma’am.” He answered, opening a small notepad in his hand. “This for Miss Mia Blake.” He responded, and my eyes slowly widened. “What? I… I am Mia Blake,” I stuttered in awe. I looked at the bags again, trying to comprehend how they could all be for me. “Please, I’d need you to sign here, Ma’am.” He responded, giving me the notepad and pen. “These are from Mr Cross to you, Ma’am. Have a lovely day.” He added. “Thank you so much,” I replied with a wide grin as he turned to leave. There were about ten bags, and six of them were from the Zara brand. In excitement, I grabbed all the bags and headed into the house. ‘What has Mr Cross gotten this time?’ I thought as I picked up the first bag and opened it. My jaw dropped as I saw beautiful packaged shirts and tops. They were in different colors and sizes. “Oh My God!!” I squealed in disbelief. In shock, I hurriedly checked the remaining bags and my mouth remained open in awe. There were dresses, robes and towels, pants, trousers, jeans, shoes and flip flops, toiletries and to my greatest surprise, underwear! There were so many of them, in different sizes. I broke into laughter as I looked at everything. The panties and Bras were so beautiful, and even though some looked small, I hoped I could still use them. I wouldn’t want him to waste money in getting stuff for me that I can’t use. I hurriedly proceeded to try one on and it was fit! ‘How did he know my size?” I wondered in happiness. I reached for the next bag, and this was smaller, compared to the other ones. I looked inside it and it happened to be an iPhone. My eyes popped wide open as I grabbed it. “An iPhone?!” I yelled in shock, staring at the box in shock. I had never for once thought I’d be the owner of such a phone. My cousins always carried them around and even warned me earnestly not to touch them because they were worth more than me. “And now, I’m holding one in my hands,” I muttered, opening the box. It was unboxed and I took out the phone. In excitement and anticipation, I turned it on. It came on and I began to scroll through the Home Screen, grinning widely. I wasn’t sure where to start from. Just then, the phone began to vibrate in my hands and my eyes widened. I was having a call! It was my first call, and the name on it was ‘Ethan.’ ‘Oh! He has my number already?’ I thought in surprise as I swiped right. “Hello, Mia. I see you’ve gotten the package.” I heard his voice, and I slowly shook my head. “I have, Mr Cross, and I… isn’t this too much for me? This must have cost a fortune.” I stuttered, looking at the items scattered on the couch. “It didn’t actually cost that much. Do you like them?” He asked, and I could feel he was smiling. “Yes. Yes. I love them so much. Thank you so much.” “Are clothes your size? I wasn’t sure…” “Yes, the majority of them suit me well. The shoes too. How did you know my size?” “Oh, I checked your heels last night. You left it at the door, so I checked the size.” “Oh, wow. That is so kind of you, Mr Cross. Thank you so so much.” “Don’t mention. And the… errmmm, the under… I didn’t know your size or I just, you know…” He stuttered, and I knew he was pretty embarrassed from talking about it. “A lot of them are my size, and the smaller ones are still usable. They are all very nice, sir.” “Ahh! That’s a relief. I’m glad you like them.” “And the phone? I don’t know how to repay your kindness, Sir. This is huge.” “Well, I’d need to communicate with you from time to time when I’m not at home. It is equally important.” “Yes. Thank you so much.” “That is enough thanksgiving for today. I have to get back to work. See you later.” “Wait! Before you go. What would you like to have for dinner? I can prepare your favorite meal. It would be my little way of saying thank you.” I replied, and he chuckled. “Just do you, Mia. I bet I’d enjoy whatever you offer me. Bye.” “Bye, sir.” My cheeks flushed as I moved the phone away from my ear. I covered my face with my hands and giggled very hard. It was as if I was in a trance and I’d wake up any moment and find myself back in Aunt Alexa’s clubhouse. I sprang up from the couch and packed the items into the bags again. I carried them to my room and put them in my closet before heading into the kitchen. I knew I had to prepare a special delicacy for him and it had to be the best he’d ever had at home. So, I decided to make roasted Chicken, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, Cranberry sauce, and salad as a dessert. I hastily got into cooking because I knew it was going to take a while for me to finish. After a long while, I was done cooking and I kept them in the fridge. All I needed to do was microwave them and serve. I took my bath and wore one of the dresses Mr Cross got for me. It was a blue bodycon dress which stopped at the top of my knees. It was pretty tight which made my curves very visible. I looked at the wall clock and saw it was evening time around, 6 p.m. to be precise. ‘He’ll be back anytime soon.’ I thought, heading out of my room. On my way to the kitchen, I heard the sound of a car driving in. “He’s back,” I uttered with excitement as I hurried down the stairs. I stood at the bottom of the stairs, waiting to hear him at the doorstep so I could open the door for him. When I heard footsteps on the porch, I took rapid steps toward the door with a wide smile. Opening the door, the smile on my face slowly faded off as I saw a beautiful tall woman in front of me. “Good… good evening.” I greeted her, and she looked at me with disgust and confusion. “Babe, who is she?” She walked in, eyeing me from head to toe. Just then, Mr Cross walked in with his briefcase. “Welcome home, Mr Cross…” I moved close to him to get his briefcase but this woman stepped in front of me. “Hello?! Who are you?!” Her voice grew louder and I hastily took a few steps backward. “Babe, C’mon. You don’t have to yell. Her name is Mia, and she’s the housekeeper. Mia, this is Sienna, my girlfriend.” Mr Cross uttered. ‘Of course, he has a girlfriend. How did I not think about that?’ I thought, letting out a feeble smile. “Fiancé, not girlfriend.” She muttered, still looking at me with disgust. “Good evening once again, Miss Sienna,” I responded, but she ignored me and began to walk to the couch. “So she’s a maid? I thought you didn’t like maids.” Miss Sienna uttered, sitting on the couch. “Housekeeper is the word, Sienna.” Mr Cross uttered with a sigh. “Don’t worry about the briefcase. Thank you, Mia.” He said to me, and I nodded. I moved closer to the couch, folding my hands in front of me. “What would you like to drink, Ma’am?” I asked with my head slightly bowed. Mr Cross sat beside her, resting his head on the backrest. She moved closer to him and cuddled up in his arms. “Get us water for now.” She uttered, her fingers caressing Mr Cross’ face. I gulped hard and nodded. “Right away, Ma’am.” I turned to walk away when all of a sudden, I heard her yell again. “Hey! Come back here!” She smacked, causing me to take a halt. I turned and hurried back to where she was, then I noticed she had her eyes on my feet. “Where did you get that? Why are you wearing his flip-flops?!” She asked furiously. I opened my mouth to speak but Mr Cross spoke up before I could. “I gave it to her, Sienna. She doesn’t have one.” He responded, and I nodded in agreement. “Go and do your thing, Mia. Sorry about that.” He added and I turned to leave again. “You didn’t have to apologize. She’s a maid. She has no right to wear your things. If you let her get too comfortable, she can steal your stuff.” I heard her say as I walked away. Getting into the kitchen, I slammed the door shut behind me, letting out a loud sigh. I looked at his flip-flops on my feet and shook my head. I should have removed it and put on the one he got for me, but I just didn’t because I wanted to wear his, and now it has caused problems. ‘Why was she being so rude though??’ I thought as I recalled how clingy she was with him.One Month LaterI returned home right after wrapping up things at the farm. Ethan had kept his word—he bought me a large piece of land, and construction was already underway.Initially, he wanted me to stay home until everything was ready, but I couldn't contain my excitement. I pleaded with him to let me visit today, and he agreed. When I got back, I noticed his car parked outside. He must’ve returned from the office already. I stepped out of my car, adjusting the loose, flowing gown that did a good job hiding my bump.I walked into the house, but the living room was empty.“Ethan? I’m back!” I called out, heading toward the stairs. There was Silence.‘Maybe he’s in the bathroom,’ I thought, making my way down the hallway toward our bedroom. The moment I opened the door, my jaw dropped.Rose petals were scattered across the floor and the bed. A large, heart-shaped balloon rested at the center of the mattress. Smaller red balloons floated from the ceiling, soft candlelight glowed from
~Ethan~We got back to Giulia’s apartment, and she welcomed me in gently. I took a seat on the couch, and Mia sat right beside me.“You still haven’t told me what you’re doing here, Ethan,” she said, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. “Were you stalking me?”My jaw tightened as I tilted my head a little. “Honestly…” I began, and her eyes widened. “I did stalk you—back when you first got here. Darla found out and gave me a proper reality check, so I stopped. But it’s been months, Mia… and I couldn’t shake the need to see you again. So I thought I’d show up with some flowers. That’s why I was at the mall.”I looked at her, her expression still frozen in surprise. “I’m sorry. I know it was wrong. I was just… worried about you.”Before she could respond, Giulia came out carrying a large tray. On it were ceramic plates with lids, the scent already hinting at something warm and homemade.“I made you something, Ethan,” she said, placing the tray on the small table in front of us.“You didn’t
~Mia~I stood in front of the mirror, gazing at the reflection of my adorable baby bump. It’s been five months since I found out I was pregnant—and I made it.I hadn’t reached out to Ethan, no matter how badly I’d wanted to. He hadn’t reached out either. As much as I missed him, I appreciated that he respected my need for space. In these months, I’d also discovered new sides of myself—hobbies and interests I never knew I had.“Mia,” Giulia’s voice pulled me from my thoughts. I turned, a little startled. She was holding up a crochet shirt I’d just finished. “This is beautiful,” she said, admiration in her eyes.Crocheting had become one of the things I’d grown to love during this time.“Thank you, Giulia. And thank you for taking the time to teach me,” I replied warmly. She waved off the thanks with a flick of her hand. “Tch, please. You know how much I love showing you how to make things. Honestly, I should be thanking you—for making one for me too! But tell me, who’s this shirt for?”
~Ethan~"Please tell me you’ve got everything you need on that phone," I said as I paced restlessly across the living room floor. John and Darla sat rigidly on the couch, clearly bracing themselves for whatever answer was coming next.“I managed to recover some deleted messages and emails,” he said. “Turns out she’d been in contact with this Bernard guy. And I don’t think it was just about taking Mia out of the picture—there was something else going on. Something... romantic.”My jaw tightened. I shut my eyes, shook my head slowly. “A romance with a criminal? That’s not what I want to hear,” I muttered, casting a glance at Darla, whose expression had shifted into one of growing concern and confusion.“I… I think she did it to protect you,” he added, his voice quieter now.My brows pulled together in a deep frown. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I scoffed.“Bernard and his boss were planning to come after you. Eliminate you, make sure you disappeared. She must’ve known that. I think sh
MiaEvening had draped itself across the sky, painting the mountains in a hue of fire and gold. I sat outside the house, knees drawn to my chest, staring blankly at the sun as it dipped behind the peaks. My fingers trembled around the pregnancy test Giulia had handed me—two red lines, unmistakably positive. The truth was in my hands, but my mind was somewhere else entirely.“Hey.” Giulia’s voice cut through the silence like a soft blade. I turned my head slowly, blinking back to the present. She walked over and eased down beside me, her presence grounding—but barely.“Hi,” I murmured, managing a hollow smile. She chuckled lightly, though there was a flicker of concern in her eyes as she studied me. “How are you holding up?”I inhaled sharply, eyes returning to the horizon. “I don’t know, Giulia. Everything feels… unreal.” My voice cracked around the edges. “You know what’s insane? I lied about being pregnant just two days ago—and now… now it’s real. Maybe I jinxed myself. Maybe I sho
~Sienna~I drove down our street, heart pounding with a mix of excitement and wicked satisfaction. Everything was falling into place—my plan had worked. Perfectly. Mia? Gone. Bernard? Cut off completely. No more dead weight. No more distractions. Now, all that was left was to play it cool—bide my time, keep my guilt tucked away, and slip back into Ethan’s arms like nothing ever happened. Easy.Music pulsed through the car speakers, my fingers tapping the steering wheel in rhythm. I was practically glowing—until the car gave a sudden, violent jerk.“What the hell?” I muttered, tightening my grip as I eased the car to the side of the road. The dashboard lights blinked at me like an omen. “Oh, come on! Not now—I’m already running late for work!”I climbed out, still hoping it was something minor. But the second I crouched down, my stomach sank. The back tyre was flat.I blinked, rubbed my eyes, and looked again. It was Slashed. A clean, deliberate cut sliced through the rubber like a war
