Chapter Fifty-Seven: Jesse’s Past

Tamara's POV

Jesse was pacing the room in silence, his hand rubbing the back of his neck as if trying to gather the right words to say. I could see the concern in his eyes, the way his brows furrowed each time he looked in my direction.

“T, I just...I need you to know it’s not your fault,” he finally said, stopping in front of me. “It’s not your fault that Isabella turned out the way she did, and it’s definitely not your fault that you were friends with her. Don’t blame yourself for any of this.”

I looked up at him, my chest tightening at his words. He was trying to comfort me, but the storm inside me was still brewing. How could I not feel responsible? I had trusted Isabella, even took her as a Friend how on earth did she get connected to some Mafia clan, and now she was part of this twisted mess.
