Chapter Sixty-One: It Was All My Fault

Tamara's POV

As I stood there, frozen in place, watching Olivia's car drive away, I felt someone pull me into a tight hug. It took a moment before I realized it was Diana, her arms wrapped around me as if she were trying to hold me together while I broke apart.

“It’s going to be fine,” she whispered softly, her voice filled with reassurance, but I couldn’t believe her. How could anything be fine now? Jesse, the man I loved, had just been arrested for something he didn’t do.

My mind raced, my heart pounded, and no matter how much Diana patted my back, the tears wouldn’t stop. I was shaking uncontrollably, my body unable to cope with the reality crashing down around me.

“T…Tamara...” Diana’s voice wavered as she pulled back slightly, wiping away her own tears. “Why didn’t you tell me about this? Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
